  2. Aircraft noise is much more prevalent as the number of overflights going to Heathrow has dramatically grown and London City Airport. London City Airport are fighting to increase their flights by 50%. Boris thankfully is trying to stop this. A 3rd runway at Heathrow would also see a dramatic increase in flights. Some may not notice the noise - good luck to them. Many of us do. If you're in the latter category then please do join HACAN the campaign against aircraft noise.

  4. Nicely dodged. I don't think you really believe obesity and global warming is all due to Lib Dems helping to form a coalition gov't for 5 years. Come on you must have ideas to solve these massive problems? you clearly care.
  5. The current residences at this property did not have planning permission. If they get planning permission for the two flats on additional floor they'll then apply to convert the offices into flats. Such conversions the gov't has issues guidance are allowed and nearly nothing councils can do to stop them. The result in 10 residential properties. Normally social housing is required for development of over 9 homes. So they'll have side stepped this. Cllr Rosie Shimell and I are calling this in.

  9. Hi Dun, Andrew1011, One of the beauties is you can apply directly for the CGS funds and local councillors decide later. I applied successfully for a new path in the Dog Kennel Woods that join that estate to Sainsbury's. I'd estimate around ?250 for each upgrade light - suspect it would cost less but good place to start based on experience of when I was knife and forking CGS spend in East Dulwich to ensure all our street light met modern standards (but I think we now need to upgrade them further).   10. Lesson learnt. If anyone feels the DDC has taken a daft decision prod me and I will get the minutes for that item expedited as draft minutes so we're all clear about what we're discussing. Being a councillor is an extremely busy voluntary role for most of us as I'm sure Robin will attest to - hence the South Camberwell councillor just resigning - and sometimes I need to take a deep breath before commenting.   11. Hi kibris, I can confirm the charges are proposed. That the decision has been called-in to the main Overview and Scrutiny Committee which I had hope to be on tonight but due to circumstance can't. The committee has a Labour majority so doesn't often agree to return a decision back for full reconsideration. So as things stand 1 October ?16 per collection of up to 10 items. Have that Spring clean-out NOW.

  13. Officers have confirmed at meetings and in writing that all the turning movements have had swept path analysis. The junction from memory - Robin do you recall - had a safety audit some time ago and was declared unsafe for pedestrians. So when the School Crossing Patrols were proposed to be removed that safety audit was part of the justification for not removing them. The focus on that was probably a contributor to the remodelling taking place. Is it now safe enough to remove the SCP's? I hope it is but hope they remain. Hope that makes sense. As for using cycle budgets. It is often the case that only marginal at best cycle improvement results from cycle budgets and not the step change we need to make. When you next hear a large amount of money for making cycling safer remember this example.

Hi P68, first mate, I suspect a desire to open asap is driven by renting the site - so incurring costs without revenue - and being ready for Xmas. Vs. council not incurring any costs for public inconvenience.

Perhaps worthing asking if you could channel the money for this via the local South outwork Business Association - it would happen much quicker than via council officials with the hundreds of project thy have on the go at any one point. If you need any help please prod me. It would look lovely in my opinion.
  16. Just had very quick response from Lambeth officers. THE CLOSURES ARE IN PLACE. They are being enforced by CCTV. That the first two weeks they will issue warning letters and then tickets. This could get really expensive as the tickets will be sent by post and people could amass quite a number of tickets before the first one arrived in the post. Please, please, please don't get ticketed.
  17. Hi bonaome, We can't use capital funds to employ people - but we have bought a mechanical street cleaning machine using capital. I think I've spotted an even better one with what looks like a big hoover thingy on it to get between car tyres and will be asking for a demo of one. Interested in taking part? If it works we could apply for funds for one to further mechanise our street cleaning. Hi Jacqui5254, WE also get some devolved funding for highway repairs and renewals ?33,333 each year. So lets put that spot for that money. Any others you (or anyone else) thinks should be a priority? My thinking is Lordship Lane as it has such huge footfall. Hi redjam, We've funded some pavement improvement there and fencing. The shop has agreed to take part in this. I need to see where we are with this. Thanks or the prod.
  18. I also believe burials on top of other previous burials is also not allowed by some faiths. The council plans are to spend multi million pounds - circa ?5m in phase 1 to remove trees etc. Effectively the council will be grossly subsidising every burial there. It could use a commercial cemetery a couple of miles away, reduce the costs to families dramatically, and avoid this huge capital outlay.
  19. I've asked Lambeth council officials what the score is. Clearly it was closed but I'm unclear whether it was physically closed and now reopened or closed via signage and if the latter what enforcement is/will be taking place.

Hi P68, Robin was at the 24 June meeting when we refused to close Melbourne Grove but decided to fund a feasibility study looking at various options and area of impacted to cover the wider area to Townley Road - Robin even helped us reach that decision. A second deputation campaigned for either cancelling the study or widening it to cover the area we'd already decided to cover at 24 June and have more options than just closing the road - which we had already agreed 24 June. Robin helped organise this petition. Robin knows the processes. Knew the decision we'd taken 24 June. Knows the repeated opportunities to be consulted upon about this over the next 12 months. As it happened the car crash of comms around this was helpfully explored with the deputation attending. But I'm puzzled why people are still fighting for a decision - to have various options and look at wider area impacts - that we took 24 June.
  21. Over a decade ago we introduce a capital and revenue devolved funding stream. The deadline for applications is Monday 9 November. We have around ?88,000 for capital investment and ?30,000 for revenue projects for East Dulwich ward. Each ward received similar. I've submitted applications for things like: - Crime Prevention kit for homes and businesses - More street trees (where residents want them) - Fixing junction of Lordship Lane with East Dulwich Grove - Improving the frontage to our local refugee hostel Barry House If you have an idea but need any help - please get in touch.   22. Robin, I think you've made a useful point previously about the DCC agenda being too full. Which means the chair has to push things along and regularly people don't feel they've said everything they've wanted to. It is a really tricky balance to get that right. Apologies for any patronising. Not intended. Definitely a bad hair day. Hi ITATM, I don't think any one is wary. Robin has always made a point of being friendly to people of all parties. I genuinely think it's concern about someone not going via the chairperson and ensuring some level of parity between everyone contributing. Which tight agendas exacerbate. Hi firstmate, I'm baffled. I have no known agenda with Labour. 24 June we agreed a feasibility study of up to ?10,000 to look at if we can reduce volume and speeding of traffic along southern Melbourne Grove. We agreed it should be of the wider area and include Townley Road. Robin was instrumental in helping us reach that decision at that meeting. And yes that study we anticipate including as one of a number of potential options closing the road. At no point have I every called anyone hysterical. I made a point of thanking the deputation and all the hard work they'd done. I've found it valuable for helping balance up the wider views of the area and I believe I said that.
  23. Hi first mate, Robin speaks at nearly all DCC meetings. Sometimes often. I don't think democracy is dead. I think Robin is finding it hard to adjust from being a councillor. And I deeply regret she felt unable to really go for being re elected in 2014. We sometimes disagree but I valued her then and still do now. She stood in a deputation with from memory five others and other councillors thought it important to hear from people we've never heard from before. We had heard from Robin at the 24 June about this very subject - to the degree she emailed an apology for ignoring the chair. Hi Andrew1011, Harris ED primary school has full planning permission, signed Section 106 by the Secretary of State and Southwark Council so will proceed rapidly. They will open September 2016 on this permanent site. I recall the Chair of Charter governors saying they'd met with the local NHS and Educational Finance Agency and were jointly commissioning a full traffic study. Fingers crossed it's an origination and destination study and parking study. Both will need this for their anticipated planning applications. Hi EDAus, I had thought until seeing your post that if we'd all had the draft minutes of 24 June meeting - where it makes clear we're looking at a feasibility report to include options and any consultation should includes the surrounding streets including Townley Road this thread and other conversations would have gone differently. But hearing you received a letter late August saying funding for a study to close the road I'm not surprised things have kicked off as they did. And yes when you asked to close your road I didn't support that as it would have pushed traffic onto other parallel roads but did ensure we used our limited CGS money against council officer advice to add full humps to your road. I still think that a good decision for Chesterfield and Ashbourne Groves. Hi Abe_foreman, You may be right. I have apologised. And I've since stated here that I would find it hard to see how a barrier at the northern end of Melbourne Grove would work without causing greater harm to people accessing the neighbouring and indeed Melbourne Grove. Hi Grok, Yes, I was delayed attending due to a family illness and ensuring I did my share. I have an extremely understanding family. I thought I had my fair share of time asking questions/making comments. Six ward councillors directly affected. Whereas I'm the only councillor commenting on the forum. And apologies to those who thought I was gurning. How embarrassing. Going forward, we'll have a proposal for the study ToR. Will work on those until we capture hopefully all views without predetermining any outcome officers might recommend. As soon as I have final draft ToR I will ensure all parties have access and can comment.
  24. Hi rch, That's not my recollection of the 24 June. The chair had to ask you several times to stop interrupting. After that meeting you emailed a gracious apology. Eitherway I hope you don't feel gagged at future meetings. Yes, I also learnt that lesson that smaller focused agendas can lead to better meetings. But the latest chair is learning and resisting the temptation for themselves to talk lots. So generally I think doing a good job.
