  1. Hi Andrew1011, Every local promise I and my colleagues have made to East Dulwich we deliver in each term after being elected/re elected. And yes your right politically we should have stuck to our guns over tuition fees and sacrificed other policies we wanted - in my view. But we wouldn't have had things like the pupil premium. But Labour introduced the fees having promised in manifesto's not and then increased them after promising in manifestos not to and not having to dilute and compromise due to coalitions.
  2. Hi Oxenford, I've just helped two families do this in East Dulwich. If you email me I'll set the wheel in motions. The two families had been having a hard time from Southwark but my involvement they tell me has really helped.
  3. The Section 106 was hoped to be signed yesterday but missed the Secretary of State red box so it will be Tuesday when signed. This then triggers demolition and the contractors are waiting in the wings to get cracking.
  4. Can you guys email me about the problems you've had and I'll try and get them resolved asap
  5. Hi ITATM! I can assure you most school have tried blocking other new rival schools. If you still have a problem with the Peckham Academy I'd be happy to try and help resolve it. Usual email or mobile number.
  6. Hi ZT, landsberger, Manifesto are clearly framed at winning an outright majority. As I'm sure you realise. If you fail to win an outright majority parties negotiate. Since the Tories won a majority we've seen what they wanted to do all along and were blocked when lib demos were in a coalition with them. Do you honesty prefer unfettered torism?
  7. Hi Richard tudor, Southwark Council as part of the 20mph rollout allocated ?700k for further physical measures based on traffic count/speed to take place. This amount is meant to cover the whole borough. Being in opposition I don't yet know what or when further measures are proposed. I hope some of this is used on Barry Road, and other locations around East Dulwich with crashes. But other parts of the borough have much higher crash numbers and should be addressed first. But of the tiny devolved budgets we have I'd like to see if we can look at one or two crash locations to make them safer. Hi blah blah, You are unusual. The Police report that most people think others are driving faster than they actually are. Traffic counts have previously before 2mph speed limits shown excessive speeding on Lordship lane around Upland Road junction, Barry Road.
  8. Hi kford, We can with signed agreement from land owners - this is done if they agree to allow right of way. The area around Moxon's we've been trying to do this for some time. But if a single landowner doesn't wish to do it then very hardtop do without creating more ponding which is a major reasons for trying to do this. Hi bob, Because many people are not driving at 20mph. further measures are required. Hi ZT, Because they're allowed by Southwark Council to take so long. Not having a majority of councllors my lot can only do so much trying to get things completed in reasonable time scales.
  9. I've checked the Planning Permission for the school and double checked with officers. Their is no planning restriction. The school from the planning application hearing hasn't wanted to antagonise the Friends of Peckham Rye who opposed them using Peckham Rye Common and Park for hiring pitches. Hopefully the friends will change their mind at some point. Irony not lost on me that most people consider Harris Federation to lack sensitivity and they could push this and book pitches. They're generally happy with their use of Kings College Playing Fields. So the boys get PE there when not using their own large sports hall.
  10. Hi P68, How can a build out that does not protrude any further than parked cars "strangle" lordship Lane? Hi ZT, As I reported two weeks ago the works finish 7 September. Hi kford, we can't fix everything at once.
  11. Hi bob, They will hopefully calm traffic but primarily make the entrance to our market much more attractive.
  12. Hi yeknowmyeknom, If you email me separately I'd like to take your case up. if DMC CP records are that rubbish equally other may be recoded who haven't had the right immunisations.
  13. Apologies for not being clearer. We opposed changing unrestricted East Dulwich ward parking to 1 hour restricted car parking. Success for our patch. Labour Southwark have introduced such restrictions in many other places - despite 50:50 consultation results - because it was in their 2014 Southwark Labour manifesto. They resoundly won that election so people get what they voted for. Always worth reading the small print before voting in local elections.
  14. I'd also hope we'd let the new space happen before deciding to fill it! if we are going to fill it we have a real shortage of place for people to sit which we need to address - and was highlighted in the Living Streets reports about the walkability of the area.
  15. The final decision about implementing 1 hour parking spaces has been issued: http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgDecisionDetails.aspx?IId=50007568&Opt=1 If you look at the schedule you'll see we've been successful in stopping current no restriction car parking space around East Dulwich ward being converted to 1 hour restricted car parking bays.
  16. Hi Sazzle30, ALL food waste is taken to the new integrated Waste Management Facility. Put in massive concrete lined rooms. Effectively composting on a massive scale and can handle ALL food waste. The centre has an interpretation centre you can visit. And they do tours of the plant. Earlier this year I helped take a scout group there. My second visit and just as informative. Would anyone be interested if I organised a group visit from East Dulwich residents?
  17. Please, please, please, do report this to the Police non emergency 101 number now. Local Police would have really appreciated a call at the time you excited around midnight last night. 101 if officers are free can see instant very quick response. The mere fact of a patrol car in the area might have avoided the further tyre slashing.
  18. Hi hopskip, I don;'t think you;'re correct. Melbourne Grove residents originally asked for full width road humps to replace the current ones that can be ignored. A fellow East Dulwich councillor suggested to them several options including closing the road at the northern end. The residents then went door to door on Melbourne Grove and obtained a majority of residents on their road agreeing. They attended a Dulwich community Council asking for it to be closed immediately. Councillors agreed to fund a small study into options and consequences. The Terms of Reference for that study have not yet been agreed - this is likely in September/October. I'd anticipate the study reporting back early in the new year. councillors will then decide how to proceed. Most potential solutions would require a public consultation. Replacing the current road humps with full width I don't believe would legally require a consultation. If we decide on an option/s requiring a public consultation then Id anticipate that being late Spring 2016 for a decision June/July 2016 for implementation of whatever is agreed after the consultation in about 13+ months time. hope this helps.
  19. Hi rch, Officers also told us a pedestrian crossing outside Somerfield/Coop wasn't possible. But in reflection I'd need some convincing that closure close to EDG would be practical. Have asked for Terms of Reference and hope they can be largely aligned to this later petition. I've not heard of any formal diversionary routes for buses being in place. So I don't think that an argument. Buses could be diverted down Barry road/East Dulwich Road in the extreme example of Lordship Lane being totally blocked. I think the most compelling argument is avoiding sending lot of residents down Matham Grove and the horrid right turn onto Lordship Lane to then access their street.
  20. Hi landsberger, If Harris ED Girls had less than 100 new starter they'd go bust eventually. They certainly wouldn't have had the confidence to change admissions to a lottery based system. And They've just had a leap in GCSE results. So I take your comment with a pinch of salt without some actual evidence. Or is their more context to your comments? Hi first mate, I would have been consulted via the DCC meetings and papers.
  21. They work well when low densities of each. But we all want the Peckham Coalline to be immensely successful.
  22. As a former cycle campaigner and keen cyclist - some places aren't suitable for cyclists. Asking them to dismount for sections is unlikely to work. Funding should avoid using cycle funding as it makes people cycling feel they have access rights - understandably. much of the southbank riverside walk was funded with London Cycling Network budgets. no ne imagined how popular the area would be or that cycling would become impractical. But it does stick that so much cycling money was blown on something you can no longer cycle. The New York highline doesn't have cycling - guess they might make an exception for little children cycling but I never spotted any. It was a great experience and appears a key contributor to helping some deprived areas revitalise. It is of a very high landscaping standard.
  23. Hi Trinidad, Everything you say is true. I just think Southwark Council Housing Department is too big even with area offices. It doesn't seem capable of doing granular. The contract management either isn't resourced well enough or isn't using the right tools/levers. And yes, clearly any work should seek resident feedback - how else can they have meaningful scorecarding of the supplier and get to the root causes of issues.
  24. Hi dbboy, It is: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200456/southwark_streetscape_design_manual_ssdm If anyone could help fully review it and critique it - I'd really welcome the help and insights. Long over due.
