  1. Sorry Ruth, I was misinformed! I thought it was going to be for all children but the government plans to increase the funding for the most disadvantaged children and for those on low incomes from 2014. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/nov/29/autumn-statement-free-nursery-education
  2. Stan? Arlo?
  3. But CD was deleted from here already, I don't understand how she/he managed to re-register under the same name spouting yet more rubbish?

What happened to the "Combating Anti-Semitism" thread? Did I miss something? It was all very bizarre.
  6. The plot thickens...
  7. Feel like the OP has some kind of hidden agenda for dragging this up here but can't quite work out what it might be...altogether a bizarre first post.
  8. Also, if the crawling is a relatively new thing it may well be connected to that. Inkspawn never crawled so she didn't roll over and get up when she came into a light sleep, but we did have issues when she (finally) started to stand up and would spring to her feet at bedtime and ridiculously early in the morning and refuse to lie down again because this new skill was just so exciting! However, it didn't last very long and then normal service was resumed.
  9. You wouldn't necessarily have to drop the morning nap but you could shorten it to 30mins and see if that makes a difference?
  10. Does Minisailor still have a morning nap? Inkspawn dropped her morning nap of her own accord at 6 months but struggled a bit by lunchtime, so just moved lunch to 11:30am with sleep at 12/12:30 and she slept 2-3 hours every afternoon. In fact, at 21 months she still sleeps for that long but now goes down at 1/1:30pm so there is hope!
  11. Also not much nursery can do if parents do not regularly check for head lice and eradicate them during an outbreak. It is infuriating to have your child get it over and over again because someone else hasn't sorted it out and keeps sending their child to nursery regardless.
  12. Just in case anyone was planning on going to Bea's Baby Bop on a Friday, it is still on at 3:30pm but has now moved to the Plough. The Tuesday afternoon class is still at Soup Dragon, but the Wednesday afternoon and Saturday morning classes are also now at the Plough. She's also starting a couple of morning classes.

But i*Rate was your wife actually carrying a SNUB bag at the time? If someone was using a bag that said "Say no to unwanted plastic bags" I would offer them the opportunity to say no to an unwanted plastic bag.
  14. I second the miracle blanket!
  15. I didn't realize that being a mum in East Dulwich and having tattoos were mutually exclusive.
  16. Glad little kickers was good Atticus. Inkman took Inkspawn to the breakfast club at the Albrighton Centre on Saturday morning(10am-12pm)and he said it was great. And I got a lie-in so everybody wins!
  17. Jelly Babies- Saturday 1-2pm at Peckham Pulse pool Sunday 10-11am or 1-2pm Peckham Pulse 10am-12pm Dulwich Leisure Centre Little Kickers football? http://www.littlekickers.co.uk/signupdetails.aspx?venue=East%20Dulwich&Fran=27&area=Southwark&day=7 Or you could try Bea's music class on Saturday at 10:30-11:30am above Soup Dragon.
  18. We've tried to go to the Rye Oak one a couple of times but it was full. The lady at reception said you need to arrive early as it's always very busy. There's also a playgroup at Goose Green Centre from 10-11:30am on Thursday, think it's ?1.50 entry.
  19. Thanks to all the helpful forumites pointing me in the right direction, we saw the consultant and Inkspawn is indeed extremely hypermobile. As it turns out both Inkman and I are as well (which explains a lot actually), so we're like one big happy hypermobile family. Thank you very much to everyone for the posts and PM's, it made all the difference between fruitless worrying and finding a resolution.
  20. Thank you Kath 243, that's very interesting and helpful. The doctor also said Inkspawn is "just extremely flexible" but my sister is hypermobile (she dislocates her shoulder so often she can now pop it back in by herself, erk) and her ten year old daughter still has issues with walking with her feet turned in. I will definitely seek a referral to investigate a bit further. Out of interest, from what age could you find shoes that provided extra ankle support for your daughter? Inkspawn's feet are currently so little that she can only wear cruising shoes which don't provide much ankle support.
  21. So at the grand old age of 18 months Inkspawn has decided to start walking. I'm not concerned about her late walking- she's a bum shuffler and I also didn't walk till 18 months- I'm concerned about the fact that she's walking on the insides of her feet, with her ankles practically touching the floor and it seems to be very uncomfortable for her to put her feet flat on the floor. She can cruise and walk with one of those v-tech walker things but when she tries to stand up independently she just topples over because she can't balance. After about a month of this I took her to the doctor this week but before I could even finish my first sentence she said she sees it all the time and to come back in 6 months if she's still not walking. She checked her hips which are fine but said she didn't need to see her standing or walking. I'm not worried about her walking so much as worried about how she's walking, but I don't know if I'm being over-anxious and it will sort itself out. I prefer her to be barefoot or in very soft moccis but I've now bought her some Clarks cruising shoes in an attempt to support her ankles. I could really do with some opinions or experiences.
  22. This is exactly what happened to us- Inkspawn was up and down like a yoyo and then getting stuck standing up. It took one or two hours to settle her every night and gone were our lovely 8am starts, replaced by anything between 5:30 and 7:30am as once she woke up she stood up. She was also waking and sitting or standing up in the middle of the night, which was a nightmare. After a week, I did start leaving her at bedtime unless she sounded really distressed in which case i knew she was stuck standing up. I would settle her a couple of times and then tell her I wasn't going to keep coming in. It didn't last very long, she goes to sleep quite quickly at night now as the novelty has worn off- if you leave them to their own devices it's no longer a fun game if someone doesn't keep laying you down so you can pop up again. The middle of the night wakings have eased off as well as she can now settle herself. I also started bedtime a lot earlier because it was taking her so long to go to sleep that she was then so overtired that it was affecting her sleep and then she couldn't settle and so on and so forth. Sadly, the 8am wake-ups now seem to be a thing of the past...
  23. Maybe won't be nipping there for some milk after all, thanks everyone.
  24. Pollypops- are you sure it's the little tescos on East Dulwich Road and not the one on Rye Lane?
  25. Go Team Baldock! Congratulations and welcome Alexa Ruby. Hope you're feeling ok Ruth. And good God woman, you're teeny, where were you hiding all that baby?
