  1. If I see him and his hound in the act, I'll follow him home and curl one out on his doorstep. Selfish idiot.
  2. Never eaten in as atmosphere appears to be in short supply, but the many takeaways I've had have all been excellent...

  4. Maybe Jacksons can book out the entire place for their Xmas bash
  5. maxxi Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- host to yet another pop-up shop full of tat actually host to a place flogging some rather nice furniture
  6. Does anyone know if this is still running? Didn't seem to be on at the weekend...
  7. Didn't bother with the food as the new decor stopped me dead and had me backtracking full pelt onto Barry Road. I have yet to see a more soulless, design-by-numbers refit in my entire boozing life.
  8. As my name implies, Nb2515, I am not of a svelte constitution...
  9. I'm sure it's a good butcher, but these Top Ten lists are pointless. What's the criteria? Who chooses them? Some intern will just trawl through the internet and select some likely candidates from north, south, east and west London. Job done.
  10. I went in there a few months ago. Some lump in a Crystal Palace shirt waddled over to help - then immediately lost interest when I said I was after about 25m2 of cheap, contract-quality stuff. Thought he could have tried to hide his disgust a bit, though at least he was being honest...
  11. Sorry to hear that Kirsten1463. How did they gain entry? Hope you reported it etc
  12. Slightly off-topic but a few years ago I arranged to have my post redirected whilst abroad. In the year I was away, countless stuff was lost: mortgage statements, stuff from my bank, insurance info/renewal letters etc. I spoke to some useless robot, was told to write in ? which I did, twice actually as they claimed not to have received my first complaint - and then received a letter back about a month later saying that there was not a lot they could do about it. They sent this letter to the wrong address. I kid you not.
  13. Ditto James Barber and lane lover's comments. I removed the sign outside my gaff and dumped it in KFH's office.
  14. Slightly off-topic but the butcher on LL near Dulwich Library sells stonkingy good bacon. Smoked to within an inch of its life and all the better for it...
  15. I like them - they're good to flick through and I've found a decent carpet cleaner and plasterer through their pages. Whether I'd pay for them is another matter. Probably not, though I would imagine their business models allow them to give them away anyway.
  16. Delivery of these seems to be quite sporadic on Crystal Palace Road. Haven't received December's issues yet, for example. Any other areas affected?
  17. I tried to buy a loaf there a few months ago on a Saturday morning. The place appeared to be open (the door certainly was), music was on, someone was behind the till standing there with a glazed expression on her boat. I was told I was too early and to come back when they opened. I didn't.
  18. Very good of you, James. Will also continue to do as fuzzyboots suggested - and which I hear is commonplace in many European countries - and sweep up the immediate area around me on CPR. Got my broom out yesterday and found it surprisingly invigorating...
  19. "From weekly to fortnightly and now four weekly street sweeping" Apologies for moaning again, but that is totally unacceptable. And, I'm afraid, innaccurate. Pellatt Road, which I walk down every day, has not been swept for at least five weeks - unless the cleaners are picking up the litter and leaving all the leaves, that is.
  20. Fair enough, though I did have to scythe my way through the leaves on CPR and Pellatt Rd this morning on the way to Lordship Lane. Maybe I should take a leaf out of fuzzyboot's book and stop moaning! I'll get the broom out later...
  21. How deep do the piles of leaves have to get before someone sweeps them up? I can say with 100% honesty that I have never seen anyone sweeping any street in East Dulwich since I moved here just under a year ago. Granted, I work during the day.
  22. Live a bit too far away to comment on direct noise issues but I've noticed that a lot of the van drivers keep their engines running to (presumably) warm up the cabs while they stick postbags, parcels etc in the back. I guess that might be a bit irritating. The British Gas vans that pick up their parts etc from the PO there do it too.
  23. I pay about ?450/year. I had cheaper quotes, but sat down and read the small print for once and decided to pay extra for more robust cover. I used to always go for the cheapest option on price comparison sites until a friend's house suffered fire damage a year ago ago, and I witnessed (and am still witnessing) the agony he is going through trying to get them to cough up for stuff. It's been a real eye-opener.
  24. A pal of mine went through a rather odd period a few years ago. Grew an enormous 2-ft beard, became extremely argumentative, started railing against the west, considered becoming a muslim etc. Having nothing to do over the new year, he went to Beiruit by himself, checked into a hostel and was immediately taken for a jew by the owner, thanks to his whopping facial bush. This guy basically refused to believe he wasn't jewish, every time he saw him he'd cackle and make semi-comedic, threatening gestures at him. My mate was too scared to go out and get a razor so he basically moped around this dingy hostel for three days. Then flew home early. Sorry, I've got no idea why I'm writing this...
