  1. Sorry but the mere mention of the term "surgeon" when related to the chopping down of trees makes me laugh. Any retard with a chainsaw can do it. It is not surgeory, it is cutting down trees ffs and is a "past time" undertaken by failed hippy art students who have no measurable value other than the mis-placed one afforded to them by their (quite rightly) disappointed middle class failure parents.
  2. Very confusing post - entitled "Labourer" to lay paving slabs followed by "professional etc etc". Go to B&Q Old Kent Rd 7.00am onwards and there are loads of east european benefits scroungers touting for work at ?70 a day cash in hand or seek the services of indiginous tax paying tradesmen who you feel safe leaving the keys to your house with. The world is your oyster.

Hisar wins hands down but is too far from me, Sea Cow is far better than Seamasters where several friends have returned poor quality fish and their chips are not a patch on the Sea Cow's.
  4. The use of any ladder over 2.5m (8ft 9in) is now illegal under the busy body H&S PC legislation
  5. Can anyone recommend a Guttering Cleaning Company? I can't believe how many backward, in-bred, retards have infiltrated the manor so quickly. Come on you new money div, surely you do not believe that there is such a thing as a "qualified guttering cleaner" or are you really such a stuck up your own arse midddle class imbecile pen pushing office waller mug that you truly believe such "occupations" exist? You can't possibly be that thick an idiot so, I salute your acidic sense of humour.
  6. The new kebab shop (ASH) next to the FHT (or the Rose as it is now known to you in-comers) opened tonight. I assumed that it was going to be a bit special and, as it has been under construction for over a year, they were delaying it's opening until everything was just right. Kebab shops situate away from good passing trade locations (as this one is) must surely, need to aim at a different and sustainable market if they are to survive. The Hisar in Lordship Lane (in a great passing trade location) knew that from the outset and opened up just yards away from two established kebab shops but stepped up the quality, service and presentation to soon make it the no.1 choice out of the 3 along that stretch - and, I have always found, dining in the main restaurant is an enjoyable, good value for money experience. Who, in gods name, advised this lot at ASH and drew up their business plan? The menu in a kebab shop is extremely limited by default (doner, chicken, shish or kofte in pitta with some salad - pink fish egg stuff in yogurt, mint and 'cumber in yogurt or minced chick pea and sesame stuff, also served with pitta - if you fancy a starter) so it's not exactly easy to make a balls up of it on your opening night. However, this lot managed it. Nothing is home made and they don't even attempt to disguise the fact. The Humus was in a 5 litre Makro "value range" catering tupperware container on show (directly underneath burning hot spot light without a lid on it). The heating element behind the revolving elephants leg was not doing its job and there was a doner delay. The salad "ingredients" were of the standard I have come to expect from kebab shops but I was surprised that, given that this was their opening night, they would use such aged produce. The tomatoes were so old, they should have had a bus pass and I suspect that their iceberg lettuce was named in honour of the ship it was salvaged from rather than after any known variety. It was approx. 9.30pm with 6/7 customers but the 6 staff were in total disarray and orders were being mucked up right left and centre. I always have a chicken kebab and stress that I want it well done when I use one of these places but, as they were struggling, it was the 1st night and the elephant leg must, therefore, be relativeley fresh and I did not want to wait for 40 minutes, I had my 1st doner in about 30 years. I asked for LOTS of chillie sauce (to kill any bacteria) which I got but noticed his oppo filling up the pot from a Makro "value range" catering drum. When asked what salad I wanted, I requested just tomato, onion and red cabbage but 2 slices of lemon and plenty of pickled chillies. I couldn't believe it when he said "sorry sir, only 1 slice of lemon per custom allowed and we don't have any pickled chillies...delivery never come..should be here tomorrow - have nice day" I couldn't be arsed to point out to him that just 40 feet away was a Turkish deli that, amongst many other things, sold them by the catering jarfull at prices you would never find in Tesco/Asda/Lid etc. Based on what I saw tonight, that place will be closed within 6 months which is a real shame as it's previous incumbent went out of his way to make it the worst fish and chip shop in England and we all hoped this would be an improvement. It's not, at least the robbing thieves at the "Seamaster" down the road make an effort to sell you all their stale old crap fish, which I would not insult my cat by putting it in his bowl, and sell chips made from potatoes that my dad would consider unfit for use in his compost heap. ASH just sells crap and can't even be bothered to dress it up. Will be closed within 6 months unless it is just a cover for a muslim terrorist cell

Try the White Horse, Nigel Road (set back from the main road before it reaches Rye Lane). It is a very good traditional pub and the Sunday Lunch is excellent VFM. They average 150+ covers every Sunday so it is not just myself that rates it very highly. If Peckham is outside your comfort zone, try The Palmerston which serves a great Sunday Lunch but which is a lot more costly.
  8. I know they have been having trouble with the food lately but the new owners have now actually moved in and will be taking a much more hands on approach so expect things to improve rapidly

  16. Hi, try Dave of Kernow Preservation in Forest Hill. They do both tanking and the newton system and all the replastering. I have used them several times on projects and have always received an excellent service. Their number is 07775967293. Good luck with your works.
  17. Hi, we are a local company with references and recommendations on this forum and would be happy to view and provide you with a free no obligation competitively priced quote. Has the subsidence problem been rectified? If not, the wall may be subject to further movement and it might be best to address this issue first. Also, it may be possible to recover the cost of the work under the terms of your insurance policy and it might be a good idea to look into this, if you have not already done so. If you would like us to quote, please call Ian on 07943569287 to arrange a convenient day and time to view. Kind regards. Donovan Construction (London) Ltd
  18. Try Jan at J T ENTERPRISES for a quote. They are based in SE22 and are both very good and reasonable with recommendations and details on this forum. Tel. 07850716079.

  20. I practiced conveyancing for 20 years with a nationwide client base and in all that time never came across a single estate agent in the entire country that I would have been prepared to recommend. It remains a very poorly regulated "profession" offering appalling value for money for what is involved and one that can be dispensed with in areas such as SE22 where properties sell themselves.
  21. Could not agree more. He is first class.
  22. I am a local builder who recently viewed a house where substantial structural alterations had been previously made without Building Control (including unsupported chimney removal) and where new structural alterations were proposed. I immediately advised the new owners to instruct an SE, which they did. I met him on site last week and found him to be really professional, knowledgable and helpful with a practical approach to what is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a straightforward project. He is Mark Taylor of Torcal Ltd on 07450371508.
  23. I would take Jems good advice. Citizens Advice tends to take a long time and it may be weeks before you get to see a specialist adviser. Make sure you have as much documentary evidence as possible to accompany your claim and research on line for similar examples as a guide. If your LL fails to respond to the claim in time, the claim will be upheld in your favour and can be enforced by the court bailiff. Have you thought about having your LL discussing matters with you whilst you surreptitiously record the conversation including him blackmailing you? I did so in a legal matter in which I was involved and the other party managed to hang themselves and quickly settled out of court. Also, you could give him a taste of his own medicine if there are any breaches of H&S or L&T regulations in the flat. You could report these and have the authorities take action against your LL causing him cost and inconvenience.
