  2. Seems very odd place - we went to get ice-cream based on recommendations on here, but they only have ice-cream in cardboard pots rather than cones (love a cone) and also don't accept cards, only cash. Frustrates me when a business opens but isn't really geared up for customers?
  3. I found children's clothes in there from a multipack being sold as single items for a higher price than the original shop. One example was baby grows from Sainsburys which were selling for ?2 each when they are ?6 for five as a multipack. Agree it's great to donate to charity but don't agree it should be more expensive than buying items from the original seller, whether they are new or secondhand. Feels dishonest to me? And I found secondhand muslins in a bundle which were dirty... :( Angharad
  4. Has Tierra Verde closed? There are renovations today to change it into a different Spanish deli. Shame, the food and coffee was lovely in there. Angharad
  5. Waiting to cross at the zebra crossing on Bellenden Road yesterday with a pram, 3 cars drive straight over the Zebra crossing without stopping to let me across. Last week a woman drove at speed towards the zebra crossing at the roundabout outside the EDT looking the complete opposite way as I was crossing with my pram giving me the fright of my life. Think everyone needs to observe the road rules, no matter whether a cyclist, pedestrian or driver.
  6. Will definitely try this out soon!! Pls report back whether it's a good service!
  7. Had a manicure/pedicure at 999 Beauty yesterday and am so pleased - they spent ages doing everything thoroughly and it was super relaxing - plus ?30 for the whole lot! Already planning my next visit. Really loved it there. Angharad
  8. Hello! I'm having my first baby, due in mid-July and would love to be part of these meet-ups. Could someone let me know the Facebook page and when the next meet-up is? Thanks everyone, Angharad
  9. Hisar is the best!! Their Turkish is amazing. Def go and try it out. I eat there all the time.
  10. 😰😰 I hope the pizza and prices stay the same....
  11. I asked for toast at lunchtime at Toasted a while back... but they said NO it's not on the menu. It's a shame when it's the name of the cafe! Further disappointment came when the table next to me got a nice big plate of toast... they had ordered the soup and it came with it. Shame they couldn't be more flexible...
  12. Homemade did a cracking breakfast. The staff were always useless and rude to me when I was in there though. Was so delish though I kept going back!
  13. I had brekkie in Brick House on Sat and it's a beautiful setting. Think the prices would be fair if the portions were a big bigger. 3 huge slices of toast for ?2.50 - amazing value!! But the Birchir muesli for ?4.50.. I was expecting something a bit bigger. The coffee was a bit titchy too for ?2.50ish. Shame there was no fresh juice, but it was absolutely heaving by the time I left and kid friendly so I'm sure it will do well. Nice staff too :)
  14. GUTTED. We had so many lovely meals there and it was a great local place to grab pizza or pasta. When Franco opened I feared the worse that Sorsi might suffer. We kept going but we're gutted it's now closed. SO SAD! :(
  15. Does anyone have any info on Sorsi y Morsi? It was closed in the afternoon at the weekend and the website is now down. It's one of our fave places to eat Italian in Dulwich and we'll be gutted if it's closed! Has anyone seen it open as usual this week? Angharad
  16. I got the 8.51 train this morning from ED. It was 5 mins delayed and took 22 minutes. Sounds like it's only going to get worse!
  17. Legged it for the 22.40 train last night... Got on.. And went nowhere fast. 15 minute delay to a train on the platform and ready to go!! Tweeted Southern and they blamed it on 'congestion after the works' and 'signal failures'. Utterly ridiculous.
  18. The bottom at Franco isn't supposed to be crispy like other pizzas - it's like the pizza in Naples... almost pancake like and pull apart soft, topped with delicious mozzarella and basil... YUM! For a crispier base, try Sorsi Y Morsi - they do great pizza and amazing homemade pasta too!
  19. Same goes for ridiculously splashy swimmers. The point is that you cut through the water, not splash around making everyone else's swim unpleasant! I think there will always be lane wars in swimming pools - it's the same in every pool I've been in!

    Duck Egg

messageRe: Duck egg Posted by Angharad_L Today, 10:25AM What is going on with Duck Egg lately?? I've been going since it opened and eaten there loads and loads of times. The service has always been questionable - but the last time I went in there I had to wait ages, got a luke warm breakfast (bubble and squeak) which was the first time I hadn't enjoyed what I'd been served, pretty disappointed. Not to be put off I went back today and as I was by myself, asked for a table for one. Ignoring all the nicely placed empty tables, they suggested I sit on a table shoved in the corner facing away from the rest of the customers, looking at their fridge!!! I asked to sit at one of the multiple empty tables (some for two which I find an acceptable request). And was told that they were 'saving' all these tables for customers of more than one as they had queues out the door last week. It was half empty!! I walked out -- after being a loyal customer for years I'm pretty shocked!!! Eating alone is something I enjoy but it's also quite an effort for some people. You shouldn't be shoved in a corner just because you are a party of one.

  22. Popped into Tierra Verde to sample a double espresso and it was perfection. Can't wait to try their food next. Needs more tables in there!
  23. Heya, where are the classes and how much? Is it just on an ongoing basis or are there set courses? Thanks!
