Looks like the baby swimming sessions are still on! Phew! I love taking my baby swimming at this gym. Was looking for the website for ages, so thanks for all that info! Angharad -

Best croissants in East Dulwich
Angharad_L replied to Angharad_L's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Had a croissant today from Patisserie Valerie when out and about. Not as good as Boulangerie Jade. I haven't tried the Anderson's ones as they always look a bit small and squashed and sorry for themselves. Hoxton Hotel do a great croissant, but it's a bit far to travel every morning. -

I've tried General Store before. They were good. However, they leave them next to the door to go cold and hard. This croissant positioning disturbs me! Am currently trying a croissant in Blackbird Cafe. It's good but it's no Boulangerie Jade.... I will try La Scala next! The great croissant debate of the middle classes rages on. -
Best croissants in East Dulwich

So far investigations have solely focused upon the classic croissant. No investigations have been conducted on the almond variety. However, on the pain au raisin front.... La Scala are very good. Barry keeps cropping up... Must investigate further. -

I don't know what you're moaning about DirtyBox, these are the important issues of the day. Jah Lush, I've had the Mirror and the Sun on the phone all day in a bidding war for the exclusive on my croissant investigation. However, I'm really holding out for an offer from The Guardian or the Times. Will definitely try Barry's croissants! 55p! That's a bargain. Don't let me down Bazza. -
Jus thought I'd give a shout out to Boulangerie Jade for having the best and most consistently good croissants in East Dulwich. Developed a craving for them while pregnant (which has persisted since I gave birth 3 months ago) and therefore have been trying out all the local cafes since then! Duck Egg's croissants were also good - but once I had a v stale one there. It was a v sad day. French House was ok, and Trio (Bellenden Road) did a good one that they warmed up for me once. However, on other days they haven't been the best. Thought it was in the community spirit to pass on this essential information.

I had the same confusion - thought the lunch special was anything from the menu. Ate at Chery Tree yesterday and had the burger and chips and it was easily the best burger in ED/Peckham. About ?14 as chips aren't included and we had bacon too! But it was so worth it. Wanted the Eton Mess but we were running late for meeting friends. Def go and try it out! Angharad

Yes, please update your website. We want to check out the food menu. Thanks!

I found children's clothes in there from a multipack being sold as single items for a higher price than the original shop. One example was baby grows from Sainsburys which were selling for ?2 each when they are ?6 for five as a multipack. Agree it's great to donate to charity but don't agree it should be more expensive than buying items from the original seller, whether they are new or secondhand. Feels dishonest to me? And I found secondhand muslins in a bundle which were dirty... :( Angharad

Has Tierra Verde closed? There are renovations today to change it into a different Spanish deli. Shame, the food and coffee was lovely in there. Angharad

Waiting to cross at the zebra crossing on Bellenden Road yesterday with a pram, 3 cars drive straight over the Zebra crossing without stopping to let me across. Last week a woman drove at speed towards the zebra crossing at the roundabout outside the EDT looking the complete opposite way as I was crossing with my pram giving me the fright of my life. Think everyone needs to observe the road rules, no matter whether a cyclist, pedestrian or driver.

Best thread ever!

GUTTED. We had so many lovely meals there and it was a great local place to grab pizza or pasta. When Franco opened I feared the worse that Sorsi might suffer. We kept going but we're gutted it's now closed. SO SAD! :(
-
Does anyone have any info on Sorsi y Morsi? It was closed in the afternoon at the weekend and the website is now down. It's one of our fave places to eat Italian in Dulwich and we'll be gutted if it's closed! Has anyone seen it open as usual this week? Angharad

Train journey times from ED to LB
Angharad_L replied to missyelliott's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I got the 8.51 train this morning from ED. It was 5 mins delayed and took 22 minutes. Sounds like it's only going to get worse! -

Legged it for the 22.40 train last night... Got on.. And went nowhere fast. 15 minute delay to a train on the platform and ready to go!! Tweeted Southern and they blamed it on 'congestion after the works' and 'signal failures'. Utterly ridiculous. -
Same goes for ridiculously splashy swimmers. The point is that you cut through the water, not splash around making everyone else's swim unpleasant! I think there will always be lane wars in swimming pools - it's the same in every pool I've been in!
