  8. I like your theory that it is an image put on the photo for training purposes. It has more logic than the other explanation of being an actual aircraft or a mock up for fundraising purposes. If that was the case it would have been placed in a much more prominent location.
  9. Can the Administrator contact me about removing a message containing my phone number? By private message? Thanks
  10. it is actually at the bottom of Chrystal Palace Park near the Penge entrance. Maybe it should be renamed?
  11. i agree with Worldwiser's earlier comment that it is the better off streets which benefit. if you go on the SE23 forum look at their Road Closures thread. Lewisham has introduced a similar scheme for covid reasons with iffy consultations. A very leafy street called Bishopsthorpe Road has been closed off. This street contains the deputy mayor, a leading member of the Sydenham Society and various Labour Party luminaries- Lewisham is a one party state. It was ever thus.
  12. The best book on East Dulwich is the Victorian Suburb by Prof H J Dyos. It tells you about its development;how the builders were organised and how it was funded. Solicitors were the nexus between those with spare cash and enterprising tradesmen. Its a long time since I read it. He taught me back in the 1970s.
  13. A short documentary about them. Parental advisory.
  14. On the subject of police inaction, I was attacked by an oversized bulldog last week in Lewisham. I have a bruise and broken skin on my inner thigh and and also somewhere unmentionable. I rang 999 at the time,I was told an alert would go out but no advice about whether this would result in any reaction. I later rang 101 which resulted in being put through to a council answerphone. I then reported it online.I was rung back the following day and it was obvious that the telephonist is under instructions to keep down the need for a police response and the level of reported crime. I was told 'dogs can be unpredictable'. No crime number. I was told a report would be sent to the local police. My concern all along was this dog will do it again and maybe next time close its jaw.
  15. Its certainly not quiet if you are under the City Airport flight path. They seem to follow a very exact route curving round over the Horniman Museum.
