No prebook appointments at DMC until end of March
hat282 replied to midivydale's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Alex K, when we went for the bloods we had to go to the childrens unit at Kings. I parked and paid for two hours on the meter but we were in and out in precisely 28 minutes from car to unit and back. The person dealing with my daughter could not have been more caring and gentle. I made all of these points to DMC when battling for the results - the NHS is such a precious resource so why waste time and money sending patients for tests that they won't look at? -
No prebook appointments at DMC until end of March
hat282 replied to midivydale's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
My daughter had some tests on the 14th Feb. After repeated calls I was told first they were not back - they were on the 19th; second by the 26th when I went in I was told they still had not been looked at but they had been put in a Doctors box who was in fact absent; third on the 28th I was told half the results had been looked at but then the Dr had gone home and had left them half checked. I went in again yesterday and was told they had atill not been checked but that I could make an appt for today which would " the Dr you see will have to check them in front of you" and finally after I almost had to stage a sit in a GP finally looked at them and agreed my daughter needed to see a Consultant. While all this went on yesterday, another patient behind me said he had been waiting for six weeks for his test results having been told first they were not back; second they had not been checked and so on and so on. A really poor and almost disdainful service. -
Man knocking on door at 1am asking for money
hat282 replied to JLJ's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
We just had a knock at our door in Crystal Palace. A very well spoken woman professing to be our new neighbour and caught short of ?15 for her meter. Could we possibly give her the cash until her partner returned in the morning? Mr C declined! -

I think this is a great idea and would be happy to donate.

I used the cash point at Tesco Express East Dulwich Road early on Saturday and was informed yesterday that lots of large transactions went through my account and more were attempted later that day and on Sunday - none of which were mine. I cannot think where else my details could have been obtained. Anyone else had this happen there?

I would be very sad if B&j moving in meant that Scoop did not reopen

Odd 'solvent' smell coming from kitchen??
hat282 replied to MrsMc's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
We had this very thing when we lived on Underhill Road. It turned out to be that a neighbours drain had been relined and the smell was the lining compound (which is like a flexible compound puumped along the drain line between a liner to form a new seal) which made it's way along the sewer connections between the adjoining properties and could be smelt for days afterwards until the compound fully dried. It smelt like very strong glue with a strong acetone smell. -
Lead stolen from roof on Ondine Road
hat282 replied to Albert Fegg's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Just to add, without being alarmist, it seems lead theft is the crime that gives and gives as these thieves know you are going to have to replace it and come back again in our case. Hope you are luckier:-S -
Lead stolen from roof on Ondine Road
hat282 replied to Albert Fegg's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
WE had the lead stolen form our nearly completed roof in Crystal Palace on the first Thursday night in September. They scaled the scaffolding at about midnight and ripped off all the lead, smashing the new slates in the process. They then returned on the Sunday night to get some more - despite the scaffolding then being alarmed. We were there, with the police within ten minutes but too late. We were told lead theft more prevalent than ever - coinciding with highest lead price ever. We were advised to use smart water on the lead. -
What East Dulwich needs is a cobbler...

I had my favourite pair of boots re soled and heeled at Merrifields and he did an amazing job - ?40.00 and probably another two years worth of wear before any more repairs needed. -

Does he own the property the Bailiffs attended at? If so you could apply for a charging order. -
East Dulwich on Cowboy Builders this Wed (Feb16)

I met Andrea Binda when I was undertaking building work in Underhill Road and needed photos of extensions on the road for the planning officer. He showed me a project further up the road on which he was working. Shockingly, I recognised the house on last nights programme as the home with the live cables left exposed under the terrace. He is artful and charming and I can well see how many people were deceived by him. He also told me he is an architect. I do hope that the programme yesterday will have been sufficiently viewed to expose this man widely enough to prevent any further damage. I am genuinely shocked by what he has done and feel for the homeowners who have been his victims. -

I am on Underhill Road and we are still waiting for parcels ordered 2 December. At one stage we had volunteers delivering to clear the backlog! Not seen any form of parcel delivery here for well over a week now although we did have a huge quantity of cards today, all franked on different dates though.

Squirrel on the menu at Franklins according to BBC
hat282 replied to missus's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have eaten squirrel in Devon. It was barbequed and was very much like quail in taste and number of tiny bones. It was, however, delicious. -

About 2.00 today I was unloading my car on my driveway and when I returned from inside I found a bloke at the open car door. When I challenged him he claimed he was looking for scrap ( my car is a bit iffy but not scrap!) and walked away. He then left my drive and went into my neighbours, through a side gate and started rooting around. I challenged him and he told me not to get so excited and that he was looking for scrap. Someone working next door said he could have an old bath but he just walked off. Shortly after a builder working up the road called over to me to keep my door shut as there were some dodgy blokes about up to no good. By this time the actual dodgy bloke had disappeared on foot. Shortly after the police arrived at my house to say that some blokes were indeed up to no good on my road and that several members of the public had phoned in to report their suspicious behaviour. They later returned to say that they had apprehended them along Woodvale and that they felt they were not legitimate scrapmen although they had not caught them with anything. They have asked us to notify them if we see them around again and I am just passing this info on in case they are not deterred by being stopped today. The bloke I saw has short dark hair and a beard and I am told is driving a white Astra van although he was on foot when I met with him today.

Cellar under water - again (on Underhill Road )
hat282 replied to hat282's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
That is an option I have been considering too so thanks for that. I am just curious at the inconsistent nature of the flooding as I can understand the water table levels changing during wet weather but in dry weather could it really have a sudden rise? -
We are on Underhill Road and since last September we have had problems with our cellar flooding. There seems to be no pattern to the flooding at all and it does not always coincide with bad weather - in fact we awoke this morning to find several inches of water even though no rain overnight. We have had our drains relined recently as it was suggested this was the cause - patently not though. I don't want to go down the tanking route as I think the water will just find a different point of entry into the house but I am now at a loss as to our next move to solve this. Anybody else having the same problem or, even better, found a solution?

Concrete House Lordship Lane - Public Inquiry

I feel very foolish for my earlier post on this matter. The person who called at my claiming to be a neighbour was in fact Reg himself. He was very convincing and I am extremely angry to have been involved this way -
Concrete House Lordship Lane - Public Inquiry
hat282 replied to Zak's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I live on Underhill Road, just a few houses down from The Concrete House. Clearly what the owners of that property have done is nothing more than a sustained act of vandalism for commercial gain and as it is a Listed property that should not go unpunished. However, the owners of the flats in the White Gothic House have, it seems to me, done nothing to warrant losing their homes. One of the residents knocked at my home tonight, in a bid to win support from local people to prevent punitive measures against him and others. Of the documents he showed me in support of his case, the most interesting were the dockets from Building Control, signing off on all stages of construction of the Gothic House. Whilst I am aware that BC are looking at construction and safety issues they are all part of Southwark Planning and it seems incredible that one limb should not know what the other is doing. Hardly much point in signing off on something in contravention of planning in the first place and it is easy to see why those purchasing the flats would think that all of these documents meant that the build was legitimate. I cannot see what will be achieved by the demolition of the Gothic House and I hope that others would see fit to support the homeowners who are as much victims of the unscrupulous owners of the Concrete House as the Concrete House itself. I am not usually given to such posts but really felt it right to highlight this tonight. -
I would be more bothered by the report on The Ormrith, which is completely damning, but very often recommended on the forum.
