Hi Matt what year was that picture taken ? I notice the church hall has been burnt down / demolished and the building on the corner of Inverton and Ivydale roads does not appear to be built lynne

It is really sad to pull these magnificent buildings down the large house was Dunns the gents outfitters private house. not sure who lived in the the semi's on site It shows the family living there in the 1881 census I believe the 4 semi detached houses [ one is missing ] on Sartor road were his workers cottages. hence Sartor [sartorial ] They are probably the oldest houses up here. It was left to the council and was an orphanage before the war. a paint store and storage area during the war. and a private boys boarding school after, In the 1950-60s the lawn and gardens were manicured and they grew flowers which sold in the local shops I am dreading its demolition, such a sad loss

Dear Ms Duck Thank you for your email. Tessa has asked me to get back to you. Tessa was made aware of this recently and is making enquiries with NHS England and awaiting their response. More broadly, Tessa is taking a keen and active interest in the future of the Dulwich Hospital site as a whole and is waiting for a further reply from Education Secretary Michael Gove in respect of the future education component of the site. I have pasted below links to that correspondence which might be of interest. http://tessajowell.net/uploads/0061f23d-637b-d7c4-1512-ae391b392af2.pdf and http://www.tessajowell.net/uploads/f00a48ee-7141-f7f4-994c-6433c2027fb9.pdf We will, of course, pass on any news. Sent: 12 June 2014 13:15 To: JOWELL, Tessa Subject: help save our surgery Dear ms jowell my name is Julie Duck I am a patient of the east dulwich primary care surgery { Dr Sarma] attached to dulwich hospital, to my horror have been told surgery is shutting on the 31st july 2014 there is no replacement doctor. Dr Sarma took over this surgery from Dr Slovick some 25 years ago, this is a good practice with hundreds if not 1000s of patients. Is there any thing that can be done?. There is another doctor there a Dr Marks. It would be a shame to lose this practice, it provides an excellent service. Dr Sarma is entitled to retire if he so wishes, but could not this practice be turned over to another doctor, just like dr Slovick turned it over to Dr Sarma kind regards -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UK Parliament Disclaimer: This e-mail is confidential to the intended recipient. Hi I am sorry to hear meeting did not happen I also like littleone didnt find out till gone 7pm when I got home when I got access to the internet. and Kalamity I admire your attitude call the surgery etc but over 1600 people have read this thread so far, what if we all phoned how would the sick get through ? The staff knew sometime ago, so did the doctor, we could have been warned- advised to go elsewhere before the stampede. I am personally worried about this,I am not impressed by any of the surgeries local [ I read the forums opinions ] I need due to medication to re-locate fast. But how do the old oldies who are immobile fare to quote littleone too little too late -

have been a patient at this surgery for 60 years when Dr Slovick first took it on, then doctor Sarma. Bad show that we have all been let down like this! lots of us take life preserving medicines. What GP is going to want to take on all us oldies with problems? -

Hi All Dr Marks has been there for years. he was there in the 80s if not earlier he used to stand in for Dr Slovick also did Dr Sarma I hope something can be sorted. I have a large family sisters their kids and my kids husband etc all with this practice can any of the other overstretched practises in the area where you wait days to be seen accomodate all the hundreds possibly 1000s of his patients -

Hi Tigres pride and littleone I like you have been with have been with this surgery for 60 odd years I believe the doctor will shut this down and nobody will know till they turn up sick and there will be a mad scramble to get sited elsewhere. and by watching this web WHO do you sign up with? Dr Sarma owes it to his faithful patients like us and many of you out there in dulwich and local ares to pass this surgery on to another doctor -
Dr Sarma is retiring, and closing the surgery attached to Dulwich Hospital he has not told any patients. He is not leaving the practice with any other GP as Dr Slovick did to him what are patients to do ? It is a good practice if you want to see the doctor, you walk in, in the morning and see him you are not fended off by receptionists and have to wait 2 weeks to be seen please voice your opinions now to make sure we DONT lose this valuable service the surgery should be passed along to another GP who is willing to take on and keep this excellent surgery running
