  1. Yep, don't worry, it will make no difference. They like a weekly church attendance though when applying for reception.
  2. Hello all Can anyone tell me which grammar schools (that take girls) are within the boundaries for applicants from SE15? I only know of Newstead Wood but there may be others I'm missing - I'm not au fait with the grammar school system at all. Thanks so much
  3. Thankyou - can anyone recommend anywhere locally that can do this? thanks
  4. Help! Have just spilled tea on my Macbook Air. It's buggered (according to my techzone at work) and I need a new one. I have all my daughter's baby pix on there in the library thingie, nearly 5000 of them (only her most recent are showing up on Icloud) Are photos contained on the hard drive? If the hard drive is still intact will the photos be retrievable? Any advice gratefully received, am so, so gutted. thanks
  5. Thanks Loz - I had no idea that they didn't have to put CPZ notices at the entry to every street in the zone, just have to have them at the beginning of the zone. I didn't notice any notice any signs on my route into Greenwich but there may well have been some - I can't even remember my route into Greenwich so have no idea how to check if there were signs or not. In any case I have challenged the PCN (am hoping the signs were missing!) but I don't rate my chances of getting it cancelled.
  6. Hello all - any help/advice would be greatly appreciated on this. I visited Greenwich on Sunday afternoon, round about 3.30pm and parked on Welland Street, just off Creek Road. It was single yellow lines, there were cars parked all along. I looked around nearby for any signage prohibiting parking but seeing none, and believing you could park on single yellow line on a Sunday, I parked. I came back to my car around 5pm to find a parking ticket issued at 4.20pm which said it believed a, '01 contravention had been committed' - this is 'parking in a restricted street during restricted hours.' I was really shocked and walked quite a bit further down the street and there, on the wall of a building, set quite far back from the road was a restricted parking notice including the hours that I had parked in. I've done a bit of digging and think Welland Street is maybe part of a CPZ (controlled parking zone) but I think, and I could be wrong, that any streets that you enter should have a sign stating this is a CPZ at all points of entry. There was only one point of entry to Welland Street, there was no sign, just a sign saying it was a dead end as I entered the street, I had no idea that it was restricted parking. Of course maybe I should have worked a lot further down the street but because it was a Sunday, and it was a single yellow line I just assumed (stupidly) I could park there. My question is, does anyone know the rules for CPZs - should there have been a sign on entry to Welland Street that there were restricted hours or am I supposed to know that a number of roads in Greenwich automatically full under CPZ? Can I make the point that there was only one sign and it was not obvious in any way? Or do I just have to pay up? It was a genuine (stupid) mistake. Thanks all .
  7. Hello I have just discovered an ongoing leak in my kitchen (cold water supply leaking) so having pulled everything out the area under the floor near the leak is sodden (well I can't see it but it's squelchy underfoot!) and the wall behind where the leak was is sodden too. I need to dry it out now leak about to be fixed but is there a quicker way of doing this - would hiring a dehumidifier or something help? Any advice gratefully received. thankyou
  8. It is horrendous - a 25 min drive to work is now taking me 1.5 hours sometimes. I was going to ask anyone if approaching Elephant Castle from the Old Kent Road is any better as on the days I need to drive to work I'm getting later and later! thanks
  9. Hi I'm guessing you've looked into the catholicity requirements for St anthony's ? Weekly church attendance (and where you attend counts) your child needs to have been baptised etc - there's quite a few and as the school is oversubscribed it's pretty tight. Might be useful to ask the school so you don't waste your time...
  10. We would never do that, don't worry! We'd always seek parental permissions etc/waiver forms etc
  11. or any of the other private schools in the area? I mean things like how many are given out, the level of financial help given and if children who are after a bursary place are marked differently in terms of the entry exams ? Any info gratefully received (pls Pm if easier) thanks
  12. Yes, she's on CCTV at both branches but am assuming this will be part of HSBC fraud depts investigations? Interestingly the signature that HSBC hold on file for me is thirteen years old, as I said it's in my maiden name and I haven't signed anything using that name (bank wise at least) for years and years....am thinking fraudster must have had an 'in' at the bank as you can tell, however badly the signature has been done, that there has been an attempt to copy it. How on earth would anyone know that's the one HSBC hold on file for me - only a person inside HSBC could know that.
  13. I live in Nunhead, top end near Peckham Rye, am guessing that realistically my daughter wouldn't have a hope of getting in due to distance? Would love to come and visit but am guessing it's probably pointless!
  14. Yep, a cheque has already bounced and I've had to borrow off friends - luckily for me I am in a position to do that.
  15. And I don't think I've particularly moaned - my mantra is usually 'it's only money' 'cos it is and it has been on this occasion too - I'd lose every bit of money I had over anything happening to someone I loved, money is not that much of a big deal to me. But people not doing their jobs properly infuriates me. And yes I'll get it back, mainly I think due to CCTV footage. The biggest shock to me has been how easy it was for this person to do this - whether I 'lost' my card or it was stolen HSBC failed to follow their own security measures. This could happen to anyone - what if it was to someone with less of a big gob than me/threats to go the media etc - would they have got their money back quite so easily? Possibly not.And I don't like that.
  16. Thanks all. Esp for the terms and conditions bit - they haven't changed since 2012- so they have not followed their own processes. Have put all of this to them. And the fact that no-one has called me from their fraud team yet and I have no idea when my money will be returned. I have told them they have until tomorrow morning to answer my questions before I'll be contacting the HSBC press office/Daily Mail etc ....sometimes it's useful being a journalist!
  17. Anyone got a number for Hillyfielders - the number on the website for Jenny doesn't work...
  18. Hi there Does anyone know if there's any football training/matches for youth footie teams in the area on a Sunday? I am looking to film in an area where there's a children of a variety of ages playing football on different bits of the ground but in close proximity to each other. Does this happen on the Rye on a Sunday? I've seen it on Saturday but am not sure about Sundays. Thanks
  19. So.... They had this woman on cctv in both branches she went to and were happy to confirm it wasn't me . However all she did was pick up a cash withdrawal form in the bank - she didn't present any bank card, simply filled in my name (my maiden name, yet all my accounts are in my married name) my address, my sort code and account number and did apparently a v accurate signature to the one HSBC holds on file without any other forms of ID asked for. HSBC apparently don't require any other forms of ID in transactions up to ?1000. I don't buy this. When I've had to get large sums out for builders or whatever over the counter I could have sworn they've asked me for other ID. I just cannot believe she was just handed this sum of money without being asked for ID. Also the cashier at the second branch would of been able to see that just an hour before she'd withdrawn another large amount but apparently did not question this. I'm assuming that this woman got my bank details from my 'lost' debit card but she could not have 'learnt' my signature from it as the signature on my debit card is my married name. And how did she know my address? I'm glad I'm getting my money back but know HSBC has f***ed and aim to prove it. And yes, I will be moving banks.
  20. Just spoke to the bank after being passed around the houses for over an hour - they say it was 'withdrawn' which they 'think' means an over the counter withdrawal but they're 'not sure' as they've 'never seen that wording before.' They then said it might be a cashier mistake - so two cashiers at two separate HSBC branches made the same 'mistake' within an hour of each other yesterday? And my card just happens to be missing - stupid. They also initially told me I had to go to the branch to sort - FFS. Am now waiting for someone from 'branch services' to call me back. No one seems to know what they're doing. Might just be using my ITV twitter account to send a message to HSBC by if I get no joy by lunchtime. Bloody ridiculous.
  21. hello - I noticed my debit card was missing from my purse (last time I used it was yesterday afternoon) so checked bank account - this afternoon someone went into a branch of HSBC in Clapham and withdrew ?600 in a 'real time transaction' then went to borough high street HSBC and withdrew another ?400. Just been on phone to HSBC fraud dept - they say they can't do anything as they only deal with online fraud so I have to call 'branch solutions' in the morning. Am so shocked and angry - cannot think how someone has had access to my purse and more so how you can withdrew money in branch with no other id (I guess they faked an id) and why I wasn't called/alerted to such high amounts. To be honest I'm usually over my overdraft limit at this point in the month but had just been paid for some freelance work so there was money there when normally they wouldn't have got anything . Has anyone else been through this? How do fraudsters do this? And I will get my money back won't I? Am absolutely gutted/fuming.
  22. This now for a child starting reception on Friday rather than Thursday?
  23. Hello - does anyone have a child starting reception on Friday - doing a full day or at least staying for lunch? ITV Good Morning Britain want to do a piece on what it's really like on your first day at 'big' school - so we'd like to put a little camera onto them (small, about size of pack of playing cards, fits onto their shirt) so they can film their first day at school from a child's viewpoint...it's a great thing to keep. I'll sort permissions from the school etc. Please PM me for more info, thanks
