  1. Apparently a problem with the main cable feeding the area, which is being repaired/replaced. I haven't ventured out so not sure how far reaching the problems are, although it seems pretty localized from the perspective of the back garden :-) Full credit to them for arranging generators to provide cover while the mains supply is being restored
  2. Same here (Rye Hill Park) - a few blipsyesterday and this morning, then no power since about midday. Generators being loaded onto the street as we speak..
  3. Second mlteenie's suggestion to check out the Dulwich Paragon - the 30 mile Saturday route (start/finish Crystal Palace) is on bikely here and will have you out of traffic and onto country lanes within half an hour. If you don't fancy the climb to Crystal Palace you can take a flatter way to Elmers End via Forest Hill/Sydenham/Penge. For a faster ride you can also turn at West Wickham and follow the A232-A21 towards Farnborough, which is generally less rolling in terms of terrain but much busier in terms of traffic.

(see http://www.ctc.org.uk/DesktopDefault.aspx?TabID=4071)
  5. Do people think the ASL/green box arrangement actually works? For me it seems to give inexperienced cyclists the (IMO false) impression that it's safe to filter down the left hand side of traffic, and puts them in front of a line of traffic that will invariably want to leapfrog them as soon as the lights change. Intuitively (to me, at least) this would seem to be a contributory factor in the number of cyclists seeming to come unstuck at the hands (wheels?) of left-turning vehicle.. Andy (who prefers to pretend he's a car and wait in line for the lights to change)
