  1. (Copied from 'Wanted' section) Hi, I need to change the oil tomorrow morning and cannot find a replacement filter. Part number is RTC 3183. It is a very long paper element which sits inside the housing. Will fit 4cyl 2.25 petrol engines - 1950's - 1960. NOT the later Mann OX15D. Can pick up with cash tonight. Phil
  2. Life seemed to be so simple in the past. It feels like the whole country is becoming awash with rules and bureaucracy. If we go about banning so many things that are part of our culture, just because they might have a religious influence, then we will be poorer for it. Most of us are atheist/agnostic these days, but that doesn't mean we can't appreciate and understand how and where these traditions have come from and why they are there. It shouldn't be this difficult, surely!
  3. I think it would be sad if school assemblies were banned. I used to love the old hymns at school and never really understood the religious relevance, but purely enjoyed the old English melodies. :(
  4. Well, perhaps I'll make up some fliers and put them about. Choose a Saturday afternoon at 1pm or something, and see if anyone shows up. There are indeed many classics left on the roadsides in East Dulwich. I still wouldn't be happy about leaving mine out at night though. In fact, many of the old cars left out look sadly abandoned.
  5. Hi all, I've brought a classic car! It's now my only car and in everyday use. I've noticed quite a few old cars bombing about so thought it would be nice to have a meet up somewhere. What d'ya think? How about Belair House on Gallery Road? Nice big car park and pleasant surroundings. Just a thought. Phil
  6. I'll ask about the wood. I'm Sure you can have it. Hopefully popping across with a ladder on Wednesday. Anyone else interested, go help yourself. You can definitely get loads from roadside without entering property. (With a ladder) Builders seem uninterested anyway.
  7. I have noticed a heavily laden apple tree on Troy Town and have acquired permission to pick them from the builder who will soon chop the tree down (grr..) to pave over the garden. Anyone fancy joining me? There's hundreds! Oh, about apples; another tree heaving with tasty morsels has been denied picking. The tree leans over the pavement. Am I still able to take these ones? It would be quite rude because it's in view of the windows. The owner wanted them all to himself but I think they'll fall and rot in the road. Shame. Some council trees have apples but they're not eaters. I think though that the many trees in fruit at the moment could provide an excellent food source to be shared and enjoyed amongst the locals. I've amassed boxes so far and have been giving them to friends.
  8. The little garage being queens road Peckham station is meant to be good. Under the arches.
  9. Hello all, Can anyone recommend a good hotel or Bed and Breakfast in East Dulwich for my sister and her husband plus their 2 year old daughter plus grandparents(!) to stay for a night? They plan to visit in a few weeks and I don't know where to put them. Thank you, Phil
  10. Dear all, If you are looking for something new to read, please drop in at the Gowlett where a new book-swap has started up. Simply drop off any unwanted books and help yourself to others. I would like to thank the Wednesday Night Book Club for their help. Philma
  11. Thank you for posting these links and sorry to hear of your bike loss. I recently ditched my cable lock (from pound shop. How did I get away with it??) for a lock like the ones on the second video clip. Luck of the draw, I guess.
  12. I'm sorry, I don't approve of this bridge. There's hardly any nice views on the river as it is.
  13. Hello everyone, I used to play the organ in my village chapel (this was growing up - years ago!In Haslingfield) and would like to play for Sunday morning services on a regular basis. There shall be no charge for this - although a cup of tea would not go a-miss. I live near Goose Green. The last time I played for church services was around Easter last year for six weeks. I am in the meantime a professional musician and teach the piano. In fact a lady told me a church in Ladywell was looking for someone but unfortunately I have forgotten the name. Thank you.
