  1. All but a few one eyed people can see children riding a bike on an evening should do so competently and with normal safety gear. Also car drivers have a duty of care to others and should take all reasonable precautions. This is not rocket science. Apportioning blame to a driver where a drunk steps out onto the road without warning, where the driver was driving safety, is nonsense.
  2. Not having lights on whilst riding a bike at night is daft. Not ensuing your child has lights on is reckless. Everyone needs to take some personal responsibility. No one denies that cyclist need better infrastructure in London but it just might be wrong to argue all the worlds evils result from nasty male rapist drivers.
  3. Is this a new record? Four years to turn into a 'used to be great in the old days' bore. Holding onto my pants for the pig story - not to be missed.
  4. I'm looking forward to this opening - will be a great addition to the area. Was just looking at the pricing on their website and a family of 4 can go on a Saturday for ?6.50 each in Clapham for a blockbuster which sounds pretty good to me - although you need to click through a myriad of cross selling screens before you get to the price. I hope you can take your own sweets in too.
  5. virgin is getting worse. Not at all reliable - I must call them on a monthly basis to fix a fault.
  6. 28 new spaces assumed is clearly daft. How many spaces for the larger co-op just down the road on this basis? And you say the total EXTRA spaces needed will be 40. Is this net of what Iceland use currently? I suspect this is yet more scaremongering.
  7. People seem to think m+s is some brave New world that will excite those from miles around. It won't. It will be used by people coming home from work, people wanting a few bits and bobs, people who forgot to pick up some bread or salad or similar in their big shop. It really isn't a big deal - I'd prefer it to Iceland and I imagine the average ED resident would too- but let's all not have a fit about it.
  8. I can't believe there will be six deliveries per day, every day. Sounds like scaremongering
  9. East Dulwich. Moved here four years ago and love it. Loads for new mums to do, pretty much universally family friendly. Ignore the small minority if miserabellas and enjoy M&S when it opens.
  10. Taking a picture of someone having a piss is suspect in my book.
  11. I propose that people who don't care about a thread show this by not posting. Shame it is closing - nice people.
  12. Who sold to the 'blow in's? No one forced anyone to sell. I do wish all the miserabellas would blow off and buy a commune somewhere.
  13. I think it's great to live in ED and a shame that the same old miserabellas chip in again and again with their negative comments. If you don't like where you live now would seem a great time to leave.
  14. Old lady deciding what she does with her shop = no one else's business. Investor deciding what he wants to do with his shop = crime of the century. It that a good synopsis?
  15. what on earth does 'Harris came up trumps' actually mean James. My question was why have they been selected. Your answer that they won because they won isn't great. Presumably you set the policy, the selection criteria, run the selection process etc. pleas answer the question. Why is there no new Southwark BC school? Does Harris support the political parties?
  16. Why are Harris being allowed to monopolise new build education in ED? Far too many eggs in that unproven basket locally already
  17. More schools = good but why does it have to be Harris? Seems to be quite a lot of eggs in the Harris basket without any long term evidence of benefits. Nit keen
  18. It has always carried too many lines for the footprint. Let's not get carried away about loose leaf tea and magic bread when they often run out of real world basics.
  19. Like thousands of others I use the 63 twice a day and see no reason why we should be inconvenienced with a reduced service/ having to get on some ridiculous and no doubt insufficiently large hopper service between Peckham Rye and FHR due to a few inconsiderate NIMBYs. Clearly the works need doing and will result in an overall long term improvement Less than six weeks of increased traffic on a street is hardly a big deal - lots of people live on narrow roads with busses going past every day. Most simple answer - continue to ignore the NIMBYs.
  20. If people pay the prevailing rate for a house this doesn't falsely inflate prices- it just inflates prices. You'll have to really try to find a coffee and croissant for ?7.50 anywhere near here. The draft house sells beers for ?3/?4 so let's all stop being daft.
