  1. So the date is now out there. I have indeed been in mild preparation for this years event so will not have to rely on the number 12 (I did swipe on) to assist me down the road...... The Barry Barry Road Race has a pedigree and the sun always shines on race day. Its a barry day for sure. All welcome either as a Barry Runner or supporter and it seems this year we will have even more junior competitors so for the under 12's a half pint at either end is permissable. Birth certifcates will be checked on the day! For those not sure, a video montage was taken last year: Now where are those bears....and can someone let SMG know!
  2. Sounds a gent. I think the new chef at the forest hill tavern is called Jason. There is a thread in this section about the new management of the FHT by the manager pete Wilson. Seems a big coincidence that a chap called Jason lives above the FHT. Pity your visit was spoiled by the incident.
  3. To leave east dulwich for the middle east though. Its not that bad here is it. Almost had a hatrick of beeb journos in east dulwich a couple of years ago. Had pieanar first. Followed by bowen about an hour later. Had hoped latif would waltz by for my hatrick and make my day. All from the comfort of a sunny day outside liquorish.
  4. Small community based club and facility. Been to a couple of events there and use the squash courts, tragic event a few weeks ago but that could happen almost anywhere whether it be a school disco or other venue (they will bring their own don revvy or other with them). I hope the licence continues and the club survives.
  5. A good Address to the Haggis. Sets the tone I think. Downhill thereafter. Im addressing the Haggis on saturday... "Yer powrs that mak mankind its care and dish them oot their bill o fare Auld Scotland wants nae skining ware That jaups and luggies But if you wishe her grateful prayer Gie her a haggis.."
  6. Good work Weegee Have inked it in on my xmas calendar!
  7. Moon on the water, Leicester square. Pure Barry likesay.
  8. That's bad gravy man. Hope the damage not too bad. BofA boys en masse in toon today, doesn't help now but you know what ehs mean!
  9. Enjoyed meeting you all, missed the ladies fitba team though. Thanks weegee, good work.
  10. Weegee Im still coming to this, but dont let that put anyone of, and look forward to it. Cheers
  11. It was said on come dine with me this week from Stoke. Not sure that helps all the same.
  12. I can KO at 6 seeing as I was very late for Georgias last drinks.....if that helps. Doubt the Lodge will be open but. Happy to wait downstairs in the EDT for further instruction and or direction! 6-7 Bar Story Happy Hour has never let me down so may do that to liberally apply a base coat prior to the 8 start. May see what other friends are upto and get them involved as well. That will ensure a "quiet" night for all. The Xmas silly season will be in full swing by the 10th so look forward to a good evening.
  13. I can get along on the 10th. Good stuff weegee
  14. Made it as a very late blow in. Knocking on the door of the Phoenix around midnight convinced a pairty was going on inside. Gladly found Georgia et al in EDT and had a couple of milk based products. Weegee, nice tae meet you. I was convinced you would be a wee hard guy fae glesga! Im wearing my drinking cords today and will be out and about making up for lost time as working late last night. Annaj was hoping to see you as had just left the Royal Society of Medicine bar and was suitably inspired. That has now past! Georgia, thanks for all your efforts. I only made a few drinks but always enjoyed them. They dont need to end just a new chairperson required (not me) LASERS SET TAE MALKY.............CHARGE
  15. Aye its a fair sair fecht when wullie, fat boab and soaupey souter built a boogie and pc murdoch caught them oot. Then paw broon fae glebe street would make it aw right. Anyhoo, nothing tae do with the chanting but yep, DC Thomson published Broons, Oor Wullie and the rest. Jute, jam and journalism, and DC Thomson kindly donated to the Barry Barry Road Race 2010 and i I thank them for that. Jings, crivens and help ma boab....... The demonic wailing, as you were.... I type this fromn Donegal, overlooking a beautiful harbour listening tae a beatufil world by some polynesian guy so not so stressed by the wailer....that will most probably change by ten minutes of arrival in London.....
  16. I live in the Gardens and hear this chanting, screaming and wailing as well. Its as described and at those times. I have no idea who it is and its a big assumption that it is the POW chap. Just hear the noise. Bit unfair on the POW fella as it could be anyone, as yet unidetified. Sounds like the noise is coming freom near the Gardens Doctors and lasts for an hour. Unless the noise wardens get there pretty sharpish the noise would have stopped so guessing it will be hard to track down and investigate.
  17. Working late till 8.30ish , hope to pop into Phoenix on way home to stand Georgia a wee glass, although by then all may well be talking into their top pockets, but I will try. Would love to be there from 6.30pm to have a right good kick of the baw. Trying to swap the work thing but a Friday evening shift is not top of the swap list.
  18. The 2010 running of the Barry Barry Road Race raised ?150 for the MS Society. This was the left over kitty money from your drinks fees at the start as well as a contribution from the Sunday Post. Just recieved the attached letter from the society. Thanks to all runners and supporters. Hope to see you at the start for the 2011 running if there is appetite for the chaotic charm of the race! Ahh............the somewhat hazy memories............... Till next time. LASERS SET TAE MALKY....CHARGE!
  19. Wont make these drinks. Pity, am diein tae take the Actress for a test run....will try her out in the next couple of weeks hopefully.
  20. Thanks Georgia, good to meet you all. I think in my enthusiasm last night I signed up for next drinks. Turns out I am due to give a talk in Winchester on that night about carrying of a man necklace, a talk that will of course incorporate all your positive feedback...........
  21. Blimey, small world is this ED. As for the Howler, its not that frequent these days and think I only hear him as my gaff faces out on the Common. RosieH - will keep my eyes peeled from now on! Surprised you didnt see me doing laps of the Gardens in prep for the BBRR!
  22. If it sounds like some kind of religious wailing then yes. Not so frequently these days but over the past few months, awoken by these screams and chants between 3.00am - 4.30am. Live in Gardens and thought Id identified the source as a flat somewhere near the Doctors surgery. Its not foxes either.
  23. Well, was out last night and have decided tae have a settler. Liqourish from 1230, join me, im oan ma boilersuit! wearing a t-shirt that will get the EDF discussing my providance..CHARGE
  24. A true reflection on the days events (hard for to me tell from the bus). Thanks to the producer for this bit of work. Top notch! Over and out till the next Barry day CHARGE..................
  25. Thank you all. A Barry day. The left over kitty money, 100 poonds, will go tae the ms society. See you next year. Mega thanks sue, sean et al for admin and of course station master Barry for the prizes, pure barry eh no!
