I am looking for a part time Nanny to start in January. I live in SE22 and my daughter goes to school close to Dulwich Village. I ideally need someone to help with wrap around care during termtime and a mix of full days and wrap around care during school holidays. Hours can be negotiated but I would really like someone who could do Mon - Fri 7-8:30am and 3:30-6/6:30pm during termtime and then between 5 to 11 hours 5 days a week during school holidays. I also need someone who can drive and has their own car. It’s a really difficult ask and I’m open to discussion on hours as I can look to utilise school wrap around care or I can consider offering longer hours if that’s more appealing. I advertised some free bits on the ED Mums Facebook page and had a lady come collect the other day. When she was leaving she asked me if I owned the (rather nice and expensive) car parked outside my house and when I said no she asked who did. I said I didn?t know but she persisted and asked if it belonged to one of my neighbours. Maybe I am being paranoid but if anyone else has experienced the same thing then please drop me a private message. Thanks.

Question for James Barber given the most recent comment above. Put aside the 16 people losing garages and the horrendous parking issues this development will cause, did you actually spend any time understanding the needs and lives of those directly adjacent to the site when you proposed it for development? If not, maybe it would be courteous to spend some time with them to fully understand how your proposal is going to impact them.

This is not about people v cars, this is people v people. If it was simply about crushing cars to make room for housing or building on disused land for people that need housing, then it would be a clear cut decision. However peoples lives are being impacted negatively by this proposal, some far more than others. There is zero consideration for the genuinely vulnerable families either side of the proposed site whose lives will be heavily and negatively impacted. There is zero consideration for parking. I can confirm that the new houses come with no provision for parking and no solution has been suggested for the people that currently use the garages for parking. There is zero consideration for the 16 people that pay rent and actually use the garages (some for over 20+ years). Ultimately, 3-4 new homes will not even make a minor dent in the 11,000 new homes target but it will massively impact many local families in numerous ways and Southwark needs to start considering these people too because collectively they should matter. It should not be all about meeting targets.

James - will you be there this evening given you proposed this site? It would be very good to hear how you plan to deal with the parking issues that will be caused by this development (you are probably well aware of proposed traffic calming islands for Barry Road which will put additional pressure on the already horrendous parking on Henslowe Road - which was created in the first place by previous developments). I would also be keen to hear your thoughts on the negative impact it will have on the lives of the 2 very vulnerable families that live directly beside the site. I wholeheartedly support new housing for those in need but it somewhat loses its value when it negatively impacts more people than it actually benefits.

I found my share on here but had some good interest via childcare.co.uk too My two pieces of advice would be to give plenty of detail about what you are looking for and I am not sure where you live but shares generally like to be close together so advertise on any local forums (if you're not based in ED) As Nina says - hang in there.

First and foremost I'm genuinely impressed you listened to a complaints thread and acted on it (despite the complaint being pretty weak in my humble opinion - coming back after several months and trying to use a credit note valid for 14/28 days is pretty cheeky but then not all of us read the small print (and if the foods were faulty then why not just say that??)). Secondly, I think it's also pretty weak that not one of those quick enough to slate and critise (trying to convince people not to shop there??) a local start up have even bothered to acknowledge your change of policy. I bought things from you today and will buy things in the future as will my friends and my friends friends. I am delighted about the change of policy but either way it would not have stopped me shopping in your store because I read and understand terms and conditions.

The issue seems to be that Southwark Council have set themselves a ridiculous goal of building 11,000 new homes and the only way they are going to get anywhere close to achieving this is by building on any bit of land they can find regardless of any disruption or negative impact it will have upon the existing residents and community. Now I am all for ensuring that everyone has a home regardless of their background, income etc but what I don't understand is why councils are being forced to build on any scrap of inappropriate land they can find, when I drive through Battersea (which I appreciate isn't in Southwark)and see massive private developments being built on a huge scale. If this land is so perfect for development and on such a huge scale, why is none of it being set aside for council housing schemes instead of for providing luxury accommodation for foreign investors, most of whom will leave said properties empty for many years and then sell them to make a tidy profit further exasperating the London property market???!!!!

I spoke to Danielle at Southwark this morning. The letter is the first stage of the consultation, but by the sounds of it (and this is only my take on what I have been told) if you would like your opinion to be heard prior to a decision being made as to whether the land in Henslowe should be developed for additional housing then you need to get in touch asap. It seems the plan is not to consult residents further prior to the decision, more to involve them 'if' the decision to build on the land goes ahead. I pushed for an answer as to when the decision would be made and was told in around 3 months, although Danielle said that anyone who had questions/comments should aim to go back to her in the next few weeks.
