  1. I'm really pleased to hear that I caught them on a one off bad moment and are generally very nice. Like I said I do still think I would have helped but each to their own opinion and I appreciate everyones responses. It is good to get people opinions and get some perspective :) Thanks everyone
  2. Thats good to know. I won't write them off just yet then :) The Palmerston were very lovely and did so thankfully.
  3. Thanks Rendelharris The reason for posting on here was purely to see other people opinions. I don't have much of an inclination to speak to them directly but as a public forum it seems a good place to see if other people shared my views. Thanks for yours - I can definitely see it from that side and I;m with you in that I would have helped. Interestingly the first girl I spoke to said yes, only to be told by her superior not to. So I guess they saw it from to sides also. I guess we come from the side of the fence that a small kind gesture even if payment is taken can go a long way to make someones day better.
  4. I had a really unpleasant experience in here on Friday and I wondered what people opinions were on it. I finished work for my maternity leave on Friday - I'm 36 weeks pregnant. My lovely colleagues bought me some beautiful flowers, unfortunately for the flowers my lovely husband had decided to take me for dinner to celebrate and they were not in water. I went into John Alan (the flowers were not purchased here)and asked if I could pay for them to re wrap the flowers in cellophane with some water as I wanted them to survive, they were so beautiful and I really didn't want them to go to waste! The woman behind the counter refused to do anything as they had not been bought there. I really struggled to see why if I had offered to pay what the problem was - Can anyone offer any insight? I'm ashamed to say I was very hot and flustered at this point and did swear on my exit telling them how f*ing unhelpful they were. I wish I hadn't sworn at them and had instead questioned them on their reasoning as I would love to know if other than being very unhelpful to a visible hot and distressed pregnant woman there is any reason for this at all?!! Thankfully the lovely chaps in the Palmerston put them in water for me and they survived. Kirsty '
  5. rahrahrah - In fact the point of this forum is to offer local residents reviews so they can decide if they would like to use peoples services. Dan - I wiped the oven down from the acid and we got the deposit back so the job was fine - just not finished which isnt satisfactory in my opinion. If I only did 80% of my job I wouldnt have one. The oven shelves was unfortunate- my main complaint was your attitude after this. You made no effort to apologise for taking them and made me feel it was my fault. I believe you are a good cleaner and any bad reviews will go a way to helping you learn from your mistakes. The problem is that currently you struggle to accept fault and blame your customer. Had we got the shelves back the sme day and received an apology then I would have given a good recommendation. Thanks Kirsty
  6. I've waited a few months to leave a review as I wanted to wait until the dust had settle a little. We called Dan when we were left in the lurch by another company the day before giving our keys back at the end of a tenancy. Despite being busy all day and having a job booked the next morning he agreed to come and clean our 1 bed flat over night. What a top bloke! He met us at 9pm and worked though the night to clean to flat. When he turned up he was about 20 cans of red bull down and acting extremely wired but he promised he would get everything done and text me when he finished around 2am. When we got up he hadn't text so I text to check all was OK and didn't get any response. We decided just to go back round to the flat to check everything as we had to hand keys back at midday. On first look the flat was in a really good state, he had done a really good job getting our carpet stains off and all kitchen cupboards etc had all come up very clean. However on closer inspection the oven has been left covered in Acid inside and he hadn't finishing cleaning it. He had also moved the oven shelves somewhere and we couldn't locate them. Now this is when his character started to change. I asked about the oven and he replied to say he had left the acid in as he ran out of time and that he had the oven shelves in his possession as he took them off site to clean. I finished the oven myself so no big problem there, the rest of the clean was still good and it got us our deposit back - on one condition - That we returned the shelves. Getting these back however was not easy. He agreed to drop them back off to the property and confirm when he had done so. He never confirmed despite me calling and chasing and then a week later it turns out he had given them to someone else and they had gone to the wrong property but he didn't know which. He said he couldn't be expected to know which house as he cleans so many. After about ten days we finally had them returned to us. We would not use Dan or recommend his company for 2 reasons. He didn't finish the Oven or let me know that he couldn't. And he removed property from our flat without our permission. The cleaning was fine but he lets himself down at the final hurdle and I felt his personal touch with customers was very disappointing.
