  3. we eat at Na Pura the other night, lovely atmosphere, great service and the food was delicious. The place was very busy so thought that the food might come in dribs and drabs but it was all cooked fresh and delivered at the same time! great experience and we will definitely be returning. Very reasonably priced too !!

  5. Oh that is sad, they used to do such delicious things :0((
  6. Hi James If this is the case then I will be more than pleased to sign the petition, as this would be an excellent addition to our areas.
  7. this sounds great!!! Gonna check it out... cheers .... We go to the Crypt in Camberwell on a Friday night and that's another fab Jazz place.

Food and drink stall, a bouncy castle, face painting, arts and crafts tables, guess the name of the cute teddy bear, tombola with great prizes, and some fantastic raffle prizes to include a ?50.00 cash prize and a night out for two including dinner at the Crypt Jazz night. There will be a fire engine making a guest appearance, great chance to chat with the real life Fireman Sam's and photo opportunities in the engine. We hope that you can join us, for a great time. 9. love the Montague arms it was a fab place and is agreed almost as good.... miss the bar staff though :O(( they were characters......
  10. Z you are right... its my understanding from old that they are unable to dig a tunnel for two reasons on the water table is very high in this part of town due to the River flowing under the towns ... and secondly there a number of black death burial sites by the church, the wishing well areas etc... I know that they used to have a tram and trolley bus routes, and think that they would have to do what they have and make it over ground. It would be nice though.
  11. Louisa, Rudd's is still there as are the staff, they just changed the name due to the brother or sister cant remember taking it over, all still the same there though.... Its interesting to read the comments,my family and I have lived in Nunhead since 1935, when it was pretty much the same as it is now, of course the town houses were full of posh people and had servants etc.... the interesting thing is that East Dulwich was a place that you wouldn't have frequented in my younger days as it wasn't anywhere near what it is today, thankfully things have changed for the better. Peckham, especially Rye Lane, was the place to be, Department stores, independent traders, large chain stores and great market stalls, it was known as the golden mile, people would come from out side to shop as it was a great alternative to the West End. Things have changed and move and now we have more access to food from around the world at a great price. When I first heard of Peckham Village, I laughed my socks off, it was Bellenden Road!! A street you would not have walked down at night on your own, now its a fantastic place. There are plenty of pubs, gastro pubs, take away's and fantastic independent traders offering better quality products, for the same price as the super markets. The old pub /pizza bar will be come a coffee shop/wine bar and then a pub with food in the back, so you will have a choice and it will have more appeal to different families. There are rumours that it will have some B&B space up stairs, but that's just a rumour... Im glad to say that as a family that has been born and bred in Nunhead and Peckham, I'm happy to live here and see great things happening.... oh and the village once was as this area used to be Kent in the olden days!!! Have a great weekend...
  12. For me it was a complete strip back to the bricks, fitted an RSJ, plastered, new ceiling installed and all the electrics, plumbing, tiling, painting and of course fitting the required equipment. For my friend he had to retile and fit a new shower, screen, shelves and then re-floor the bathroom, when he went to re-floor the toilet he discovered it had been leaking so fixed that and then when he had dried it out re-floored it, he also finished off the kitchen as she had had a con merchant do half of it and leave, so he finished off the cupboards, tiling and flooring and then aligned all the cupboards to finish it off. In my other friends house he ripped out the kitchen refitted it replaced doors, plastered and then tiled and painted it, she then had him retile her bathroom and in her front room she had had a leak that ruined the wall, so he fixed the roof area, plastered and re rendered the wall, filled new oak wood flooring fixed her windows as the were off line and painted it all.. I have to say that he is very good, older guy and his son they work together, they will clean up and hoover up every day after they finish, they get the work done, not just sit round and drink tea !! Also they have done some full conversions in Camberwell Grove, which as I understand was a full refit, but he can give you the details and you can call him for his opinion too. Hope that helps ...

  15. Hi Laya I have a great cleaner called Izabella, her number is 07565505097, she has cleaned for me for about a year and is very good at following routines, as I like my rooms cleaned weekly and then once a month on deep clean rotation. If you need anymore information please pm me back. Good luck hope she can do it for you. chellbirdse15
  16. it is my understanding that this will never be an underground line for two reasons, one the water table is too high in this area and secondly because of all the areas where the black death people were buried. This is why there were tram lines in originally all the way through to the early 50's and then they took them out of service, there used to be a depot down in Peckham, which I don't think is there anymore. If they could offer us an over ground tube solution, that would be fantastic. Good luck with the petition.......
  17. The other one to go to is Skeehan's and this is one of the regular music pubs in Nunhead/Telegraph Hill, one of the local bands that are doing really well are the little Devils and highly recommend them, they play Blues. The Ivyhouse has live Jazz sometime up to 10 piece sets on a sunday lunch and evening. Th Rye hotel has a two man covers only band, but they are ok !!! If I can remember the music .com address I will let ya know ... good luck its a great place to live !!!
  18. The same thing happened to me earlier in the year, I thought I hadn't locked it and it wasn't until I got into the car did I realise, as I never keep anything in the car they took my lock nut re-leaser, so had to buy a new set of lock nuts etc. I also found the contents of the boot on the side walk, luck for me no one had taken it !!! That same week three others all ford's were broken into but again very little taken.... sorry to hear this. I hope you will get your things back will keep an eye out for you!!
  19. I had a NHW meeting tonight with one of the officers on duty this afternoon, apparently there were three people involved in a road rage incident, they all got out were giving it large to each other and then one of them smashed a glass bottle over one of the guys head, then it all got out of hand and two were unconscious, with the last guy standing calling the police.... it turns out that they have all been sent to hospital and all have been arrested for causing a fray! Lets hope the other two guys come round and all is okay with them..... sometimes it helps to have inside knowledge !!! lol !!! Im just a nosy NHW person really!!!!
  20. I have to say that the festival was excellent this year, the sun was shining and the addition of children's athletic area was great. I was face-painting there for the first time, and wanted to say how polite and well mannered the children were!!! A credit to the parents of the area!!!! Looking forward to seeing you all again next year. Michelle Chelle Belle Faces

  22. we used them two weeks ago too, they put down this powder which they eat and then die, so its not smoking them out or anything similar..... ours was in the bay window roof, and they were coming into the house all the time, by baby nearly got stung because he sat down on the couch and just as he was sitting down, two of them flew off.... I know how important they are to the cycle of nature, and normally I would have left it, but my two year old has to come first this time ..... good luck and I hope you find someone...
  23. HI Renata It might be worth asking them to add it to their neighbourhood watch FB page as there are a number of people signed up to this that are all the NHW coordinators. Very worrying news I have to say!
  24. My son was a premie too, I have to echo everyone's comments above.. SCBU is an amazing place with amazing staff who not only know their stuff but are fantastically supportive to the parents too. If you were to meet my son, you would have no clue that he was prem, he is the tallest in his class and more advanced in practical things than his class mates for his age, he has experience a little bit of speech delay, but that was for a couple of months he is all caught you development wise now.... Please dont worry for her, things will all turn out for the best, you just need to support her .... good luck with ya pregnancy!!!!
