Hopefully it will be closed forever. Tesco has an appalling record on everything and anything ethical. The whole building is a disgrace. People upstairs (like everyone) should be properly housed whilst the site is entirely dismantled, rebuilt, and then they should be able to move back in to far higher quality accommodation. The ground floor needs to be opened up for a series of independent outlets rather than just a rather cr×ppy corporate convenience chain store. Let's see if Southwark's amoebas can work that one out.

Interesting thread. But gosh, people are cynical. Look: we've got two Marks and Spencers, the continuing closure of independent outlets replaced by aggressively branded chains, schools becoming akin to exclusive clubs, massive Volvos to get our kids to school in sixty seconds whilst spewing out everyone's favourite fumes, asking prices on very mediocre streets like Shawbury Road in excess of £2million, a tatty Saturday market selling overpriced junk to idiots with more money than sense, terrible transport links, no banks, no post, and not just a complete decline in community relations - there's no community here anymore. Just a bunch of greedy little pigs. What's not to like? Oink!

Hi Caro. There are several threads on the Forum involving Southwark leaseholders' service charges and the insanely escalating prices they're paying. Or at least this applies not to all but certainly to many of them. Have a peep on the Forum's search facility and you'll see how many people are astonished at these fees and how difficult this is for these folk. You might change your mind x
