  1. No, they're not that well known - but hopefully soon will be. The band is Asura - unique metal/rock/indi/jazz/reggae fusion, some really cool stuff. We both thank you all for the advice. I'm following up leads from here so hopefully he can have the work done soon. Thanks.
  2. Thanks DGS, will drop you a line. Jeremy, when you say 'leakage' was there still enough sound outside to cause a problem for neighbours?
  3. Dear all, I'm appealing on behalf of my brother who lives Elmers End way. He is looking for recommendations, advice or contacts of trustworthy tradespersons who have experience in soundproofing/conversions. The garage is 1930s double detached at the end of the garden with side road access. He requires a basic conversion to a soundproofed space where him and his band members (including acoustic drums) can practise without disturbing the neighbours. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
  4. Can anybody recommend, or are there any experienced, trustworthy, conciousness cleaners; who can do a moving and oven deep clean? I'm moving out and need house clean for new tenants (working very long hours most days, housework has slipped). 4 beds, living room, kitchen bathroom - plus oven clean. Needed for next week Monday or Tuesday. Please PM me.

Oh time to slap on the 1210s, look what > you've gone and done! I'm getting excited. Nurse! > Sorry I tend not to get out much... Totally agree with everything you have said, Cupid. The opening bars of Sir Dennis Brown's 'How could I Leave?' is the only song capable of stopping me in my tracks sending a tingle of emotion and memory down my spine. I suspect most of us singing the virtues of this particular genre and era of a similar age and like to be reminded of our carefree youth! Hence, I'm going to the BT dance on Wednesday to hear all these great tunes around like minded people. Anyone else going?
  7. PEARSON GLAZING in Peckham - 020 7732 1511. I have 20+ year old aluminium double glazing. On three of the windows, the hinges and levers had buckled and I was unable to open / close these windows. Had quotes from other local double glazing firms who told me the whole window unit needs replacing. As the estimated cost for this was around two thousand, it was outside my budget. Happened to drive by Pearsons in Peckham, noticed that they replaced hinges. Same week appointment, really polite, knowledgeable, friendly lads who had the job done in just over an hour costing just under ?300. Windows good as new. On a slight down/upside depending on your viewpoint, one of the lads made a small crack in the window as he was refitting. He came straight in to tell me, measured up came back later the same day and REPLACED THE WHOLE DOUBLE GLAZING WINDOW unit and threw in wedges that were missing on other windows all free of charge. Cannot fault the work ethic, highly recommended.
  8. I have broken the handle of the flush on my toilet. A bog standard porcelain low flush unit with a lever handle, just snapped off where it goes into the cistern. I have bought a new one but cant get the old one out. Can anybody either give me instructions how this is done, or do it for a reasonable price? Thanks. THANKS TO THE RAPID RESPONSE OF JOE 07931837240 SORTED QUICKLY, EVEN ADJUST A PREVIOUS PROBLEM.
  9. Hello all, Derrick deserves a recommendation on this site for all the brilliant work he's done in my house recently. This includes fitting made to measure blinds, building shelving systems (he saved me loads of money by pointing out alternatives that had the same result and look as what I wanted) painting and decorating living room. He did all those fiddly jobs that needed doing for years but nobody else wanted. A nice chap, felt at ease leaving him whilst I went out. Will definitely be using him again. DERRICK 07572140870
  10. Hello all, I'm looking for a good, reliable builder/handyman (or genuine recommendations)who can sort out my lean-to. I'ts a typical ED Victorian terraced house with back side return. 15 years ago, we had a lean-to built that now houses washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. I need a raised floor put in, toot and invading greenery cleared, shelves and hooks put on the wall, general clean up and said appliances moved to a more convenient location. The person must have a van to take all junk to the dump and actually listen to what I need done. Price must be reasonable too. Any takers?
  11. An old one, but Song of Solomon or Beloved by Toni Morrison are my all time favorites.
  12. Hi, can anybody recommend a man and van service available today? I need to collect a double divan bed and mattress from Greenwich SE10 and bring it back to East Dulwich. The man&van advertised on this forum is not available. Thanks.
