If you've ever tried getting to Hackney from ED then you'll know this line can't come soon enough...
  2. Anytime I see 'Village' in a city place name I know it's going to be an area where the majority care more about the value of their house then whether their own family members live or die, and avoid.

  4. Brilliant stuff guys. Someone sign off with 'word', that's always hilarious. *does mad gang signalz from doorstep of townhouse on Northcross Road with Wu-Tang blasting (not too loud) in the lounge, runs back indoors when some 'yoof' walk past*

And it still isn't, the middle classes tend to be the most vocal and indignant as a rule is all, so you tend to hear their tireless bleating over everything else.

Agreed... We are verging close to a Dulwich Taliban with some of the points on this thread. common sense dictates that nappy changing is something for the restroom, hence the prevalence of 'nappy changing facilities' therin, and not on the end of restaurant tables.
  10. NB If you're going to kick a dog into a road you need a good pair of boots. It would ruin your sandals.

  12. Anytime I see an owner let their dog do anything like that I simply pick it up and drop-kick it into traffic. If everyone did this there wouldn't be a problem.

  14. This thread seems to be like the internet equivalent of Capitaine and Sous-Fifre messaging each other in the Private Eye classifieds for the best part of 20 years It's either a warning or something to do with spies

Does ED > not have its own Joseph Williamson? > http://www.williamsontunnels.com/intro.htm I used to live in the old Matlock Pub across from the entrance to those. Used to go quite far in at night armed only with a marine torch. Pertrifying. I think there's a visitor's centre / lights in them now.

  18. In terms of actual percentages, the majority of those figures have a negligible difference. Certainly not significant to warrant the cacophony of snobbish tutting on here. the violence against the person figure is considerably higher, though as I imagine the majority of you don't run in gangs or live on a sink estate then your chances of that happening are diminished anyway.
  19. If there were some village stocks in the centre of ED for these kind of lapses in decorum it would make it easier to shame wrongdoers and people who act suspiciously. I've been on the phone to someone or other at the council all morning about it, I advise you to do the same.
  20. Children shouldn't be in bars or eateries. end of.
  21. +1 Cue a bunch of predicable sneering snobs posting drivel regarding the areas you mention. *sets watch*

I was of course referring to his more salient tome, The Shoreditch T*at.. (I've never been on a forum where swearwords are censored before. Good Christ.)

I walk further than you would to get there, I rarely drink anywhere else (except on saturday, when people with kids decide to turn it into some sort of creche that sells booze)
  24. > Does anyone know anywhere that still has a > pool table? > The Gowlett. Has the added bonus of technically not being in ED. Wishing Well and Prince Albert on Bellenden Road both have them too. As for ED, the Uplands might have one, but they're thin on the ground.
