There is one bread and cake stall and the other stall is a cake one. Neither of them are Blackbird.

How about stopping cats poo inside the house....
cate replied to Char's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I read that cats don't like citrus smells, so you could put down some lemon and orange peel as well. -
Hmmmmmm!

I love it too. Tasty sandwiches too and the rosemary bread is fab. Extremely pleasant staff.

The people who work at Grace & Favour are fab
cate replied to Curmudgeon's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I agree that the bloke who works in there is great. It is very expensive though. I usually buy a card or two and that is it. It is really full of stuff no one really needs, especially not during a recession. I liked it when they served food, many moons ago. -
Hi David Junior I did read the article in the South London Press. Have you put your complaints in writing to the surgery? I do know that they have a new practice manager who has only been there for 4 weeks and I am sure he would be keen to see comments from patients.

Southwark's bulk collection is fabulous. They take up to about 10 different items at a time, including fridges, bathtubs, washing machines, furniture.....other areas I have lived in always charged.

explosive device in ED police station
cate replied to benjaminty's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The Evening Standard said today that East Dulwich Police Station is to close down. -
Good idea First Mate, to find out if it is a pilot. It is so hard to know who to speak to there. I have questioned other things there and have never received replies. One problem I have had is trying to book an appointment with the osteopath. They are supposed to release appointments for him 4 weeks in advance but it never works like that. You can't even put yourself on a waiting list. I have registered several queries about this at reception but no one ever gets in contact with me. Think I wwill have a mosey down there tomorrow.

Re: Problems with Virgin Media internet connection?
cate replied to Browncoffee's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I use Waitrose for broadband, (excellent - haven't had any problems) BT for my line rental and 18185 for calls. They are extremely cheap. half a pence for calls to the United States, plus a tiny connection fee and UK calls are nothing, but there is also a tiny connection fee. I have only a freeview box which is sufficient for my needs. My phone bill for 6 weeks was about ?7.00 and that included loads of long US calls. -
I have been trying to ring the surgery today and it is constantly busy! Not even put in a queue. Heavens!
-
I certainly hope it is just a rumour and not true. I understood that the surgery is owned by Dr. Simon Fradd, who also owns another one in the Midlands. So where does Concordia fit it. Forgive me for sounding ignorant.

The library at Grove Vale also has terminals, 5 I think, 3 in the kiddy section. You can pre-book the time of up to an hour, then increase it if no one else needs it. I used it in the past. They are open today, but closed tomorrow and open again on Saturday.

Hopefully the owner will read this as the staff is obviously arriving late! I've never been there at that time. Maybe their opening hours are a bit ambitious! Perhaps they should change them to 730.

Trinity, thanks for explanation. It probably means that the noise was too much for residents I guess. According to research the illuminated speed signs are supposed to work better than speed bumps. I have notice that not too many people in this country seem to pay too much attention to speed limits anyway. Especially the 20mph limit in the side roads, which I totally agree with.

I have been in there at least 4 times and find the staff extremely friendly. They have samples on the counter to try. One staff member has been visiting the station to hand out muffin samples. I have tried a ham sandwich there, very delish, spice bar and muffins. They do a deal for ?2.50 for coffee and a muffin. I recommend their rosemary bread.

Why did the speed cushions get taken out of Colyton Road? Anyone know? They know have a speed sign warning to drive at 20 mph bt not too many people seem to bother. Southwark doesn't seem to have a cohesive policy. Some roads have cushions and some have bumps.

Has anyone tried complaining to the Environmental Health Department of the Council who could go and visit them and tell them to sstop what they are doing. Then it might be ascertained whether or not they have mental health problems. Perhaps they are living in some sort of hostel?

I too am with Melbourne Grove. Have had a nurse call me back to discuss symptoms and then make appointment. To be fair the call came when they said, within a couple of hours. They are also open very late some evenings for people who work, up until 9 or 10 pm. Have had an 840 pm appt. before. Have also been able to email one very kind female doctor who works where when laid up with hideous hallucinating flu at beginning of year. As long as they have enough people to call you back in a couple of hours it should theoretically work......

IIn the States it is common to have a cedarwood chest made, like a blanket box. Then put all your woolies and silk in there. Does anyone know anyone who would make one for me? I love the smell of cedar. Smells like a clean hamster's cage.

They always run out of liquorice toffee. Their fruit gums are awful, in my opinion. They taste very synthetic. Rowntrees taste better. Very over-rated. ?2 for a bottle of root beer!!!

I vote for Leon and/or Giraffe. If you haven't tried either, Leon has a branch in Spitalfields and in Carnaby Street, as well as a few others. Think there is one on the Southbank somewhere. Very fresh and seasonal food. Giraffe is great for kids and, I find, consistently good. There is one off Marylebone High Street, and one in Ken. High Street, plus others.
