  2. Ms T, Re your post today:- Didn't Barclays block her account/card from the last time? Then they should refund her that money straight away because it sounds like their own fraud systems aren't even working after the fact!
  3. Asset Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > er, like all the other peeps cate. why the > inquisition on poor Mscrawthew? Hi Asset, I didn't mean to conduct an inquisition. I am trying to isolate the possible culprits. Mscrawthew's experience sounds the most able to confirm the most likely place, if there is only one place! I used that shop only once in the less than 5 weeks before my new card was cloned. The garage also seemed to be suspect which I also used. Maybe the police would be interested if the 'pin'pointing can be that precise! I am happy to go to the police, but seeing as I used the card in numerous places the info won't be as useful. I have already spoken several times to my bank and they said it's really a police matter. Yours nosily
  4. If it was the only time you used the card, ever, in its life, then that seems pretty certain where it was cloned. Perhaps you should go to the police......

So you are saying your card was cloned BEFORE you used it in the supermarket? Where did you use it before it was cloned?

Your bank should be able to tell you. Is that shop the only place you used the card in the last 6 months?

  10. Tegid I can recommend First Direct(part of the HSBC group) and possibly a few other on here can as well. First Direct links up with the HSBC Fraud Department and it was them I spoke to when they texted me and called me after spotting an attempted transaction in Germany. They have confirmed that they call/text every number you give them, as well as sending you a message on the internet banking site.
  11. Ha!, I splashed out and spent ?3.97! Never used Londis opposite East Dulwich station, maybe it is the shop in Bellenden Road. Is the Lloyds pharmacy the one in Bellenden or the one in Northcross anyone?
  12. More cloning stuff........ I had a brand new ATM card for less than 5 weeks before it was cloned. In that time, locally, I used Sainsburys, Co-op, both ATM and shop, Somerfield (once), Lidl (twice), HSBC ATM, Poundstretchers (once), Iceland, Barclays ATM, Lloyds Pharmacy, Londis AND the Texaco petrol station. I can't remember where Londis is?? Anyway the Somerfield and Sainsbury link is there. Anyone else used any of the other places I used?
  13. Otto Yes, it's weird that in the States, if you buy something in a shop then you don't need a pin. They sometimes ask for photo ID though. But at a US ATM you definitely do need a pin.
  14. Otto, Where did you use your two different cards?

  16. Can they clone cards that quickly? 10 hours from using it to being used. It's possible you used it a few/months weeks ago and it was cloned then.

That was their first office, then they opened up the one near Goose Green roundabout. I often wondered why they bothered having 2 office.......so doesn't seem to mean one less estate agent in ED.

Plus they are open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day and you can speak to a real person in this country, either in Glasgow or Leeds.

If they are not then they should have an ATM machine inside! I have a First Direct account and they told me to always use an HSBC ATM as you get preferential treatment in case there is a shortage of funds. I had my card cloned a few weeks back and still don't know where it happened. Have there been any problems with the Co-op machine on Forest Hill Road, or any of the other ones on LL?

I tried the Rye one Sunday for a roast dinner and thought it was exceedingly expensive for what it was. ?11.50 for indifferent chicken and veggies. They had red wine gravey with the chicken which was very peculiar. Would be interested in trying something else off the menue - any recommendations?

    Greece

Well I wouldn't recommend Malia generally unless you like Club 18-30 types and people mooning, urinating and throwing up in the street. It does have a nice old town though. The 'bar street' the above poster mentioned is full of non Greek restaurants. I stayed there for 2 weeks while working one summer and it was interesting to say the least. Crete is a huge island; which side will you be on? Will you have a car? What do you like to do etc...I have made 10 different trips there so know it quite well. PM me if you like.
  23. They have a new menu now including a Finnish breakfast, French breakfast and a German breakfast. They have started to do chilled soups; so far a pea and mint one and a gorgeous tomato with a tabasco kick. Lovely paninni rolls with sesame seeds on topping which aren't dry like some of them often are. Great Monmouth coffee. Think it is quite quiet now cos of holiday period so a good time to go in. Quite often sold out of things by mid afternoon. Can take everything away too.

I was called today by my bank, First Direct to ask if I was in Germany. No I said. Evidently someone used my cloned card to try and withdraw euros. They had the pin number luckily the bank stopped the transaction. I have used all the places you mention above Libra Carr, recently. So my card has been cancelled and I am awaiting the issue of a new one. If they use remote cameras then could we put our hand over the keypad to stop anyone seeing the pin? Cate
  25. Sorry to hear the info about Hamburger Union. I tried the one in Tottenham Ct. Rd last year and really enjoyed it.
