  1. The signs pertaining to dogs have no legal back-up in that there aren't any bye-laws to enforce them. There are merely there in the hope that you obey them. Same goes for Peckham Rye. However if your dog is out of control, and it is debatable what that is, then you can be summoned to court and fined etc. Biting and knocking someone over or off their bike would probably fall under that category. The signs relating to dog fouling are legally enforceable though.
  2. The Greek bakery in Camberwell Church Street has good sesame seed bread. It's the only sort I have tried in there. And it is open 7 days a week.

  4. The only time I ate in Piaf I was served a revolting croque monsieur that has been cooked in grease and was still swimming in it. Completely inedible. I fled and never went back.

  6. It's behind the duck pond. You can get to it from the car park entrance or from the entrance near the school on Colyton road.
  7. I think you would have to be really bored to do this.
  8. Right next to the skateboard park.
  9. Approximately how much are the meals expected to be? Re AWT, why is he odious? Do you say that due to his battered/scrunched up face which was due to an accident?
  10. Who would even need 8 bedrooms unless you are rampant breeders? Would make a great commune though.
  11. I've also heard it called "The Crouch End of South London". Very helpful to North Londoners, no doubt, perhaps not to those who never cross the river...........
  12. I saw them last week. Great idea. Tried a few of them out. Also saw loads of parents letting their small children 'exercise' on them even thought the signs said for over 12s.

  14. I like the Bellenden Lidls. There is another one on the Old Kent Road, as well as an Aldi. There is a wonderful shop called Persopolis on Peckham High Street, a hop and skip from Lidl. Open until 10 pm. Full of lots of middle Eastern goodies and a good place to get spices and pulses. On Sunday there is a Peckham Market outside the library. Good veg. stall with a farmer from Kent selling lovely eggs.
  15. Yes, why are you calling it a nasty Lidl shop? It has a lot to offer everyone. It's a standard shop in Germany and the rest of Europe.
  16. Do the ones in EDD go by the name Gloucester Old Spot? Last time I bought one in there they did. If so then I don't think they are home made but are available at lots of different delis, frozen and then baked. I have seen them in other delis around the country. But they are tasty.

She also has tables outside!
  19. Et Cafe 2050; Veronique est Francaise.
  20. There must be a level at which it could be dangerous. Otherwise why would the company have had to carry out tests on it last year to show the levels. I saw paperwork relating to this today.
  21. Found out today from the park office that it is chalk from Morgan Est, the company working on the mains water line between the school and Colyton Road. And someone told me today that some diesel was dumped or discharged in the stream about a month ago causing the fire brigade to be called. Don't know if that was from the same company. I know nothing about chalk, does anyone else?
  22. While walking around Peckham Rye yesterday I noticed that the stream was very polluted in the area up by the children's playground, very near to the Harris Academy. It looked like it was full of detergent, very cloudy and grey which was a contrast to how it usually looks. I reported it to the park office by the car park and was told that Harris Academy used to have a swimming pool and used to discharge that water into the stream. The water was also polluted in the stream by the car park. I didn't bother walking around to check every bit of the stream but wondered if anyone else noticed it and reported it?
  23. What about that brasserie place? What is that like? Didn't is used to be the Peckham Experiment? I used to like Petitou but the food is so repetitive and expensive.
