  1. I thought that only commercial premises had their rubbish collected at weekends, as well as every other day of the week due to the business rates they pay and because they would produce rubbish every day if they are a shop or restaurant. I used to live in the West End and that is what happened there. Woken up about 6 every morning.
  2. Is Saturday the only time you get a bin collection? Not Wednesday or Thursdays? When is your recycling day? I thought SE22 rubbish collection was Wednesday or Thursday?
  3. Admin, aren't you going to move this to the Business section of the forum?
  4. Miss Hope perhaps?
  5. From memory it says that one person is in a serious/critical condition.
  6. There is a small report on the 2nd page of The South London Press today.
  7. Bonniebird, If there were more classes, then more money would have been raised. A puppy is up to the age of 12 months, not 24 months. There should have been different judges. I also think it was wrong to have one dog win twice. How is that 'fun'? It seems very skewed to me. If you don't need 'crudentials' as you put it, to judge a dog show then why did a retired dog trainer do it? Perhaps it would have been better if the crowd had been the judges.

Didn't that dog (I thought it was a sheltie) win the prettiest bitch as well? How could it be in the puppy class and the bitch class? Puppies should be up to 1 year, not 2 years as was the case on Saturday. Also, why no walking around for the dogs? They just had to stand and wait while the 'judge' and her cohort came around. What were the judge's credentials?

    Travelcard advice

I think it works out more expensive to get a yearly travel card, assuming that you get 4 weeks holiday a year and don't use it during that period. Get a monthly one. I believe that Oyster cards will be useable soon out in boondocks of South East London rail stations. Moos and I think alike.
  10. Were you parked somewhere that was marked as no parking at certain times? I have noticed that if you park in a bay that allows parking for 30 minutes then they come round and make a note of your details and then come back later on to see if you are still there. Then they give you a ticket. Of course there might be some that don't stick to that. Happened to me once outside the library in Grove Vale. I was in there for 10 minutes and came out to find a warden taking note of my car. I thought he was giving me a ticket and he then explained what they do. In the States they chalk your tyre the first time they see the car and then come back again later.
  11. I have just spoken to Steve Phillips at BBC London Traffic who has apologised for broadcasting erroneous information. He received the information from Travel Link who supplies them with the information for bulletins. It took Travel Link almost 2 hours to realise that they had given BBC London the same information relating to last week's accident. Thank goodness there wasn't another accident and my condolences to the family of the man who was killed last week.
  12. It would appear so. Unless of course the travel presenter was reading from an old bulletin.
  13. Heard on the news that this happened near junction with Derwent Grove. Roads closed....anyone know any more?
  14. Try 18185. Just google it and it will come up. You have to register your mobile with it, and can also use it for your home phone. You are only billed for each cal you make. I use it from home on my landline to call mobiles. They have different rates for calling some mobiles compared to some landlines. To the States it is .5 per minute. for either landline or mobile.
  15. Jack's closes for a long period in the summer due to school holidays. They haven't had a regular member of staff for quite a few months now as she has been off recovering from a serious illness. Re the smelly bin - did you say something?
  16. fiskaroo, you still didn't explain why you wanted to know who owned the 'imposter' cat as you put it. In one of your posts you said you didn't expect anything from the cat's owner. I sympathised with you over the intruder. If he bashes away on your current flap then what is to stop him bashing on the new one. Not agreeing with something you said does not equal aggressive. Peace and love to your free spirits.
  17. Thanks for sharing your experience annaj. It doesn't mean I agree with you about letting cats out. Regarding fiskaroo, what difference does it make if he finds the owner of that visiting cat? If he does he really needs to lead by example and keep his cats in as it would look hypocritical to ask someone else to keep their cat in. I sympathise that another cat is coming into his house. It has happened to me, in the daytime, with a feral cat. But I think other options should be tried before trying to find the owner of a free spirit, as he puts it. I still don't understand his point in posting.
  18. So why did you post then Fiskaroo? You wanted to know the owner of the visiting cat? For what reason then? Sorry you didn't like what I said, but a lot of cat owners are irresponsible. The one that lets his cat out at night is one. He is upsetting you and your cats. You have no idea what your cats are doing when they aren't with you. So why does it bother you that someone else's cat is coming into your house? Remember you said cats are free spirits.
  19. fiskaroo, how can you expect anyone to have sympathy for you if you aren't willing to keep your cats in at night but expect someone else to keep their cat in? Cats are very territorial so the cat visiting your house has established it as his territory. The answer is quite simple, get a flap for your cat flap and keep your cats in at night. You find the owner of the other cat but their answer could be the same as yours was to me - cats are free spirits!!! Are you one of those people who doesn't believe in litter trays either?
  20. Why don't you just keep them in at night? Everyone I know who has/had cats in the country lost them or they were injured badly because they let them roam all the time and people in the country drive fast through villages, especially at night. One friend's cat got hit by a car at night and lost a leg and I implored her to keep him him in after that. She said the same thing you did, no he will go nuts, he won't like it etc. etc. My answer to that was - would you let your kids got out and play whenever they wanted to? Anyway she kept him in at night and after a few nights of him kicking up a fuss he got used to it. Anyway, how do you know what your cats are doing when they are not in your house? And when you are sleeping?
  21. Could you take the cat to the vet and get it scanned to see if it is micro-chipped? If you can find out the owner then I would go round there and ask them to please keep their cat in at night. I have posted about this before on here. Cats need to be kept in at night, for all sorts of reasons. You have just highlighted another one. I have seen a cat bashing on the outside of the cat flap to let himself in. I had a lockable one which I used to lock frequently to keep my cat in. The other cat just kept hitting it until it shot backward and he hooked his paw underneath and scooted in. You can get flaps with a sliding removable door (for dogs especially) to go over it from the inside so no other intruders can get in. So why don't you get one of those and keep your cats in more frequently and maybe the visiting cat will get the message.

    sofas

Kingcome Sofas on the Fulham Road. They often sell showroom models. Not cheap though, but really comfortable.
  23. I am very sorry for the loss of your cat, Woody. Cats are far more likely to get hit or killed by cars at night. If you don't want to keep your other cat in all the time, at least keep him in at night. In the winter this would mean from when it gets dark. Is he neutered? Being neutered stops them getting into so many fights and also stops them from looking for females. It doesn't however stop them from roaming. Please everyone, get your cats neutered. Cats don't need a sex life.
  24. Honie, do you want to make a bet?
