  1. There?s a cash point on Rosendale Road outside the shops.
  2. Hi Simon I have a residential mortgage on an ex-local authority flat (Southwark Council). We had no trouble getting the mortgage (Nationwide, applied May/June 2015). Happy to send you details of our mortgage broker if you would like. Also happy to discuss/give any other advice. Vicky
  3. I'm also a leaseholder of an ex-council flat (Southwark Council is freeholder) and in my opinion, if I were you I would inform them of your intention to knock down the wall. We had our bathroom refurbished last year and didn't realise we were meant to inform the Council before we had the work carried out. We applied for retrospective permission and it cost us ?400 rather than the ?30 or ?40 it would have cost had we asked for permission before having had the work carried out. We did wonder whether the Council would ever know/find out that we'd had the work done, but thought it better to get the correct paperwork in case we get asked for it in the future when we sell. Depends on your risk appetite I guess! But Southwark Council are just money grabbers and I hate having them as the freeholder!!
  4. I'd recommend Cassandra Baker of Baker Girl Beauty. I always go to her for my gel manicures and I would never go to anyone else. I know she is well qualified in massages and has done a number of pamper parties. See her Facebook page: https://m.facebook.com/bakergirlbeauty/?locale2=en_GB
  5. If you are prepared to venture to Bromley I can thoroughly recommend Cassandra of Baker Girl Beauty - www.bakergirlbeauty.co.uk or her Facebook page (just search Baker Girl Beauty). Cassandra does gel manicures for me and they are always perfect. She does loads of other treatments too which I am sure are just as fantastic as her manicures!
  6. Hi there I'm currently in the middle of getting my bathroom done. Hopefully nearly there, a few days left to go! We went to Bell's Kitchens and Bathrooms on Lordship Lane (on the corner of the road opposite what was the police station). Have been really impressed so far. Tony at Bell's came round to our flat, measured up, came up with a design and suggested what to put in the bathroom (he was happy to hear our opinions/suggestions and was also happy to suggest an alternative when we said it was too expensive!!) Also very impressed with the quality of the work so far. The fitter works in conjunction with Bells and is really polite and easy to communicate with. Let me know if you'd like to see any pictures - as I said we are a few days away from completion but can send you pics as of today and pics when it is finished.
  7. Do you have details of the leaseholders association please? Either a website or contact details? I tried to get in contact with the Leaseholders Council but never got a reply to my email.
  8. Has anyone ever attended a Homeowner's Council meeting? I believe the next meeting is next Wednesday evening. I am thinking of attending but wandering if others have views/previous experiences of the meetings?
  9. My boyfriend and I pay ?15.92 per month (this is one payment that covers both of us). This is for decreasing term cover if either of us dies or has a critical illness. It's with Legal & General but got it through our financial advisor. Happy to give you his details if you're interested.

  11. If you learn how to use punctuation, you may be in with a shot.
  12. I saw a pair of Jimmy Choos in there the other week! I've donated to Save the Children recently, I donated items from the 'more expensive' end of my wardrobe, e.g. stuff from Coast and very nice dresses from Warehouse. Appreciate both these shops are high street and not designer, I still felt the quality of the items was more suitable for Save the Children than the other charity shops we have. I always enjoy a browse and am often surprised at some of the stuff people are prepared to donate when they could get a decent amount of money themselves on eBay.
  13. Thanks to both of you. Will probably need to take a trip to the dump to get rid of a nasty old carpet so could definitely take the knives to the reuse centre.
  14. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can get rid of some unwanted kitchen knives? I presume you shouldn't just throw them away in the normal household rubbish. Can they be recycled? Many thanks
  15. Yes I believe you can return a book at any Southwark library. I borrowed a book from the library in Camberwell and returned it at Dulwich and there was no problem.
  16. Another vote for Beauty Plus on Forest Hill Road. I have only had a spray tan once (just not really my thing) but Beauty Plus were great, the tan lasted ages and looked pretty natural too. Would recommend.
  17. Says on their Twitter page they will be open on 14th Nov, so this Friday! Look forward to trying them out!
  18. It was complete chaos when I got to London Bridge just after 5.30. People were queuing to get in the station! I did join the queue but as I got closer I managed to have a look at the departure boards, all trains were either delayed or cancelled . So I left the queue and went and got the bus instead :-)
  19. Peckham Plex is a bit basic and sometimes smells of mothballs, but tickets only cost ?4.99 and you can't argue with that! I think 3D films are only ?5.99 a ticket, and that's a lot cheaper than the big cinemas. Peckham Plex has a Twitter account and they tweet regularly so it might be worth following them.
  20. Hi Seema, Do you have any time available on Monday (9th September)? I am looking to have a bikini wax. Could you please PM your price list? Many thanks!
  21. Beauty Plus on Forest Hill Road are good for a spray tan. Had one done there at the beginning of the month for a wedding and it looked great. Quite reasonable prices too (the spray tan was ?22). They have a website: www.beauty-plus.co.uk Would be interested to hear which other beauty salons in ED are any good!
  22. Had a great time last night and not feeling too stiff today! Looking forward to next week already :-)
