  1. Paintballing is a good call...noted!
  2. I'm organising a stag do for about 30 blokes in the London area (or not too far outside) and need inspiration - I'm thinking something that doesn't initially involve heavy drinking (as I'll be out cold by about 7 at night) but could go that way in the early evening time. Also let me know if you've been on a decent one recently and what you did...help most gratefully received! JB :)-D
  3. I think constructive criticism is fine (as nothing would progress without it) but this should be levelled in a way that it doesn't become personal or liable to be misconstrued as character assassination. Providing the complaints are on-topic, where's the issue?
  4. Unfortunately, if they have no benefits they have no money for food/living. So in actual fact they will probably become more of a burden on the system through constant petty theft and public order offences.
  5. 'L'estaci dell'oro' or 'The theme to The Good, The Bad and The Ugly' by Ennio Morricone. Just what I need to face a day at work.
  6. My girlfriend had her wing mirror kicked off a few weeks back. We had it repaired and then the little swines came back and kicked the other one off. At just over ?100 a pop we can't afford to keep replacing them!!
  7. Has anyone else seen this? Its about three blokes who work a night shift in a petrol station near Reykjavik in Iceland - absolutely hilarious! The boss is like a cross between David Brent and Alan Partridge!! Its all in Icelandic with British subtitles but that makes it even more funny. I'd definitely encourage watching it as its only online for a few more days!! http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01177g8
  8. We have been a few times and have found it a bit hit and miss. The first time was very nice, I had something similar to Ravioli, but the second time had Pescatore pasta with quite gritty Clams. The starter was Calamari, which was very nice apart from a few small stray bits of a plastic-like substance lurking on the plate. On the other hand, one of the waiters looks just like Napoleon Dynamite...which is fun.
  9. On second look, this probably just about covers it. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,649376
  10. Firstly, I make no apology for having absolutely no interest in the Royal Wedding. Congratulations to William and Kate for doing what millions do unnoticed by the masses every year. Let's move on. So with that in mind (and the hope of some pretty amazing summer weather) I'm after a list of decent venues/ideas/locations/suggestions of an enjoyable way to avoid the day's proceedings. I considered seeking refuge in the sanctuary of a local pub, though I've heard they may all be showing it too! Surely not!!
  11. We fly to Sardinia at 6am in July and I've booked a Premier Inn not far from the airport for ?29. Obv car parking is on top, but book it early enough and its around ?50 for the week.
  12. Around 5mbps is roughly the norm for most houses in ED on standard 'BT' type DSL Broadband. Companies may offer more on paper but ultimately it is down to two prevailing factors: 1. Distance from the Telephone Exchange 2. Contention for service on your trunk of the line (if 100 houses on your street have service with Sky, then its likely to affect your line speed)
  13. I heard Foxtons was going to be turned into a gay bar...
  14. My girlfriend is a doctor and I had to watch it with "that wouldn't happen" and "that's rubbish" twittering in my ear the whole time. Apparently its more true to life than most, though the hospital is quite empty and a consultant would never give out his personal contact number (so I'm told...)
  15. This really is quite trivial. The facts are: 1. There's too many cars on the roads 2. If supplying one saves 15 households requiring their own then thats a good thing 3. We can presume most rational people won't object to a scheme promoting fewer cars on the roads. No notices needed. Bingo.
  16. Hi Supergolden88 I found our amazing nanny through Simply Childcare. She has been with us for over a year but our son is starting nursery in April and so we are regretfully having to let her go. She is absolutely fantastic and I couldn't recommend her her highly enough, if you want more information PM me.
  17. Milligan/Sellers Ad for B&H http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-jKrLq0BWU
  18. Nice choice. I also liked the 'You've been Tango'ed' ad of the 90's, but it probably gave rise to the 'happy slap' so not all great.
  19. The old Levi's 501, Wrigley's gum, Milk Tray man...so many to choose from! Mine has to be this from 2004...
  20. I had an old Peugeot 405 once - total rot box but served me well. Got in one day, noticed things were a bit drafty driving along and saw that someone had bent the drivers door out. Fortunately the whole car was held together with a lick and a promise and they must have reached inside to pull up the door lock and it fell off! Forget your expensive alarms and immobilisers, the ultimate in anti-theft is a 1992 Peugeot 405 Automatic in HMS Belfast Grey!! My dad said it happened to him years ago when he had an old Austin Allegro in Forest Hill. They broke in, started the car and threw the greatest hits of Spandau Ballet out the window. Dad found the cassette in the space where the car should have been! He then got a call from the police saying that his car had been found broken down half a mile from where he lived...
  21. Just because it costs more money to live in Dulwich than some other areas of London doesn't make it any less susceptible to crime and I'm pretty sure the residents of an uber-expensive area like Knightsbridge or South Kensington would tell you that there's a fair chunk of crime round there too. Would you describe either of those areas as 'rough'? The sad fact is it doesn't matter on your postal code or how much your bricks and mortar cost...someone somewhere will still rob you for whats inside. Nowhere is impervious to crime - I do think its wrong to point the finger though, as this only makes matters worse.
  22. You forgot... 7. Print the council minutes in braille and personally deliver them to all known blind people 8. Install an induction loop near the proposed space for deaf people to hear the minutes 8. Produce a podcast of the minutes available for download on iTunes 9. Advertise on all existing Streetcars that 'A space was being considered in xxx road. If you mind this then text xxxxx' (or something along those lines) 10. A radio broadcast on Magic, Kiss FM, Radio 1/2/3/4/5, Talk Sport, Absolute Radio, Smooth FM, Classic FM and LBC detailing all locations of the minutes and promoting the podcast. Ah, better do it for all the digital stations just to be safe. 11. Offering a 'Dial-a-ride' service for those that dont have a car and want to use the scheme but don't have the necessary personal mobility to be able to hear/view the minutes so they can be driven to an appropriate reading/listening point There. I think that covers it :)) *Edited to include point 12 - Engage the employee on the Customer Service desk by telling them that you plan to make an extremely large purchase and need at least ?100 in one pound coins for all the trolleys and accost the Sainsbury's tannoy system on a Saturday morning to announce all locations of the minutes
  23. No, but having an alternative may make those who would have otherwise bought a car join the club instead.
