  1. The bit from court lane to the library is heaving with pedestrians. Do people really need to be out walking? You cant keep two meters away on the pavement, cyclists everywhere. In the space of ten minutes we counted 45 people passing within 2 meters of people they werent with. Is it really worth it? I know you are 'allowed' but the advice is a fit all and doesnt work for busy london streets. people should be at home so the streets arent busy for when people need to go out.

  3. old college in the village do good camps.
  4. The survey posted above is open for a year. Action required sooner than that
  5. I am still not sure what you are supposed to do when turning right from the village towards carlton av. Lights are green so you queue. you cant move as cars still coming from n dulwich. Then lights go red. If you wait at this point you are stopped in the road with traffic coming directly at you from carlton av. if you go you are going through a red light- and then have potentially another red light at start of carlton.
  6. Need to get the menu and prices right else dont think it will be the only time we hear 'closing soon'.
  7. The menu today consisted mainly of pizza (min ?8.50)-surely customers already served by Pizza Express and Rocca just by the park and very overpriced cake-better quality in nearby Gails or better setting in the Picture Gallery. No sign of a bacon, egg or sausage sandwich. No cheap beans on toast for the kids, no chips and ?5 for a small coke and packet of crisps! Unsurprisingly the one improvement seems to be less queues...Decor small improvement but surely thats to be expected when just opened and not got any customers...
  8. Sorry toffee but agree with rendal there. you accuse rendal of wanting it all despite numerous posts where they suggest sharing and co-operation but then indicate you want the track all to yourself. the cycle paths are very good routes for going places but not the same as the park for beginners. I am surprised that particularly in summer more people dont walk on the grass (esp with their dogs) and leave the tarmac for those who are in more need of it-i.e cyclists, disabled drivers, scooters, trikes, rollerblades, buggys, pushchairs, and those less able to walk on less flat surfaces. not that others shouldnt use it but surprised they wouldnt actually prefer the grass.
  9. You have thousands of miles of walking possibilities in London, that is hardly the point. edcam Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > edcam Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Indeed. 10. No-one wants to use the pavement so maybe this could be put to better use e.g a cycle lane
  11. Siduhe why do you stand by the decision if you believe it will make the country worse? Democracy as we have it is actually that we vote for Mps to make such decisions on our behalf. That is the type of democracy we have to avoid such mess. Germany for example bans referendums as they see them as the work of manipulators and dictators. And if you believe what the masses want should prevail, then surely you think the masses should be asked regularly-and certainly at least having two goes at such a massive decision is more democratic than getting 1 go?
  12. Anyone going to Needham know somewhere to watch the man utd everton game afterwards suitable with kids?
  13. entirely reasonable that a family should be eating at that time, but equally reasonable for you to have a word if they were too loud, the same as you presumably would if adults were too loud, which is fairly common in a curry house. The time is the key for me as if i was in a restaurant at 5pm with my family I would hope for other diners to tone down their language for example, however if i was in a pub with my family at 8.30pm or later then i would consider it our choice to be in an environment where people may freely use expletives so that would be fair enough.

New Bond and Star Wars in the same year. Awesome!
  15. Has anyone been to Bognor away before? Is it a suitable match to take the kids?
  16. Good post Cat. sums things up nicely. Will be ignored by the Zealots but is the correct answer
  17. As for you main argument it seems to be the roads are going to be overcrowded in 10 years so rather than spend time and effort improving trains buses etc it is acceptable to purposely make the roads worse now. What sort of logic is that. Is that not like saying pollution is going to get us so lets pollute evryone more now so they dont want to do it in future. Ridiculous thinking,
  18. Townley. As I said you claim to speak for the wider picture but then make it personal. 'just try to face the facts, your current car based lifestyle is leading nowhere', The actual fact, though you dont seem interested in facts, is that I do not have a car, and will happily bet you ?1 per mile that i cycle further than you every week. If there were no cars the loss of revenue and resulting poverty and decline in living standards i believe would be a greater casualty than 9000 and 9000 people wouldnt be saved if no cars. the transport system isnt viable to have no cars and whilst we (the overall population) need them we should do the best to keep the traffic moving sensibly.
  19. For your information, 70% of London households did not own a car in 2011* and that % is continuing to rise. What was that about the majority? I think you are in a smallish minority. Townleygreen. TfL have 54% of london households owning at least one car. 'Own' also doesnt include those who rent, hire, lease or have a company car. Others also may travel in cars with friends family neighbours and colleagues. Ownership is obviously higher in some groups. A family with young children living in the outer boroughs with limited transport are obviously more in need of a car than a single 20 something living next to a tube bang in the middle of town and ownership rates reflect that (75% ownreship in richmond). So just because your children manage without a car is irrelevamt and typical argument of people who on one hand say you need to look at the bigger picture and then back it up with their own particular circumstances. http://content.tfl.gov.uk/technical-note-12-how-many-cars-are-there-in-london.pdf
  20. Forget all the hypothesis of what speeds are safer and look at the reality. the vast majority of those who drive on the '20 was 30' roads feel it is less safe and in Portsmouth which was the basis of the whole idea they have come to the same conclusion and look set to scrap it. it is probably true that if you are hit at 20 your chances are better-but thats no good if the reality is there are more accidents.
  21. Someone must know how old the number 14 is?
