We borrowed a JetKids Bedbox from a friend for a long haul flight recently and I was so glad for it. Our son (large 3 year old) loved riding on it so didn?t need a buggy and it was great for giving him somewhere to put his legs up on and stretch out a bit. It was easy to convert it into the bed box (flip the lid over). You can fit it a few toys inside (it comes with a little mattress thing inside it). I think it?s expensive to buy (?140) but I am planning to get one.

Thanks! Much appreciated!

Watching with interest but also interested to hear how difficult or easy it was to agree with King?s an ELCS after a previous EMCS.

And interested to hear the same for pre-reception boys!

Penha Longa in Portugal is great for kids as is the Abama in Tenerife.

I had my son at King?s. I couldn?t fault the pre-natal care at all in terms of scans etc. I had an emergency c-section in the end and thought the staff were excellent and very kind. The post-natal ward wasn?t great but no particular complaints. When I felt very ill a few weeks after my son was born, the midwives were fantastic there and instantly said I should come back in. Overall, I felt well cared for, particularly at all the critical moments. I think at St Thomas?s you might be able to get private post-natal rooms if they are available for a fee whereas not sure you can at King?s.

Just wanted to flag Bonne Bouffe?s staff as being very child friendly and helpful. Our little boy spilt his apple juice all over his trousers and we didn?t have any spares. My husband was about to try to nip down to Jojo to buy some new trousers but they very kindly offered to dry them off for him in their tumble dryer. Turned a potentially stressful lunch into a stress free one. Not sure many other places would have been so helpful.

Thank you everyone!

We?re thinking of moving to E Dulwich from Camberwell. How is the commute from E Dulwich station? Can you generally always get on the train? How long does it take people usually?

I would very much recommend Steve. He just been round to fix our Bosch washing machine and even made time to squeeze us in during an already fully booked day. Steve was extremely courteous, efficient and helpful. A rare find!

Meningitis B and Chicken Pox vaccines
klh replied to tarafitness's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks Saffron. Having spoken to them again it seems that they took my booking without realising they wouldn't be able to get further private patient supplies to fulfil it. Still upsetting and very annoying but I suppose nothing much they or I can now do about now except wait for new supplies. -
Meningitis B and Chicken Pox vaccines
klh replied to tarafitness's topic in The Family Room Discussion
In case anyone else has booked a meningitis B vaccination at Your Travel Clinic in the Akerman Medical Practice, I had booked our son in for today over a week ago having been assured that they had supplies and I paid a deposit. I even called back last week to double check they definitely had supplies and to offer to pay the full amount in advance and was told his wasn't necessary. I have just been called, an hour before his appointment, to be told they have now run out. Obviously, I'm very upset to have been told there was a dose earmarked for our son but now it appears it has been sold to someone else. -
Please could you send me the link to the article as I am interested to read it. I am very cautious so would never put the baby near anything which could potentially harm him but can't see how his sleep suit could be caught on it, particularly since it is a deep cot bed and the claws are made of small round bobbles which hug the top bar of the cot.

We used the BT 7000 - it's great! :) Buy a gorilla claw from Amazon and you can attach it to cot bars.

Not in the area but Rood Lane chain (one at London Bridge) are brilliant. Hope your father in law feels better/gets what needs soon!

Can anyone recommend a beautician who will come to your house to do your nails and does a really good job? As in proper cuticle work and neat painting.

We're in France (coming back on Sat) and I've miscalculated our 9wk old's food so my Aptamil stocks are a couple of feeds short. Aptamil doesn't seem to be sold in France and I'm not sure what French brand would be considered a "good" one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I had my baby there a short while ago involving an EMCS and had a great experience overall. The post-natal ward team were obviously quite stretched but the staff were all lovely.

I've just had a baby and wondered if there were any other new mothers in Camberwell who might be interested in meeting up for a coffee?

Just thought I would post an update to say I had my baby yesterday and did have an epidural although not until about 9cm dilated because it took a while for me to get into established labour and the anaesthetist was on another job. It was wonderful when I had it - really reduced the pain to almost nothing. Unfortunately it turned out after 2 hours of pushing and an attempted ventouse delivery that my baby's head was in a really odd position and so couldn't be delivered naturally and I had a c-section. By the time of the attempted ventouse delivery the epidural wasn't working very well anymore so I had a spinal block which was fantastic. The Kings team were amazing and I can't fault them at all. Good luck Piazzola!

Hi Piazzola. If you google studies on Epidurals and assisted births, the latest research seems to indicate that you are not more at risk of an assisted birth if you have an Epidural. My understanding is that the link was made because women who were having difficult labours were more likely to request an epidural but because of the difficult labour might always have needed instrumental assistance. I'm due shortly and I'm going for one.

I am due to have my baby at King's at the end of the month. Having researched it in some detail and weighed up the pros and cons, I am considering requesting an epidural as part of my birth plan (while keeping an open mind). Does anyone have experience of requesting an epidural at King's and if so, were the midwives supportive of your request? Many thanks!

I am planning to buy the Bugaboo Bee 3 but do not know whether to also buy the carrycot as well as the cocoon. Would anyone recommend getting the carrycot as well as the cocoon? The carrycot comes to an extra ?200 and I don't know whether it is worth buying particularly if it is really only useable for 6 months. Thanks!

Thanks Bonfire2010 and ACBP!
