  1. I live in Altims Court too and have just got back from work and there's no water again!!! I reported a problem at 5.30am this morning and they gave me an ETA for the contractor to come out for 7.30am, the management agent gave the contractor my number and they called at 7.50am to say that they were 5mins away, didn't hear from them again. I can't believe its not working again, it apparently hasn't been working since 6.30pm and the contractor is not due to arrive until 9.30pm. This is the 4th time I've experienced this here in the last 2 years.
  2. Also to let you know I was a Senior Household Underwriter for a top insurance company for over 14 yrs, so if you need any advice on household insurance I can give you some advice. However anything to do with Subsidence will be tricky|!
  3. I've claimed for the loss of my mobile before, you just need to call the police and run through some routine questions to get a crime reference. The insurance company will need the crime reference to process your claim. You can claim on your home insurance as long as you have personal possessions cover. As for cover with your bank account, I have this as well, I've got a feeling that you need to register the phone with them, but I can't be too sure about that. I hope that helps...
  4. The only things I miss from where I used to live before are: The river A tube station A good independent family run Spanish Tapas restaurant/bar M&S and Waitrose What ED has over that is character and a good community spirit, not too many rowdy aussies & kiwis. From a convert from SW to SE
  5. We're going down to the Vale by East Dulwich station, they show most football matches there.
  6. Just completed your survey, good luck in your studies! I would be very interested in reading the results once you're finished.
  7. Hi Leo, I'm so glad to hear that you're ok and making a good recovery, thank you for letting us all know. I really hope your friend will be ok too.
  8. My boyfriend was on a Stag Do in London last night and they went Urban Golfing: http://www.urbangolf.co.uk/venue.html?VenueID=1 as an alternative from pub crawls and drinking games, but I think that's what's on the agenda today though...
  9. Yes the station is open now because our friend has just turned up and came into ED station
  10. I used to be an Insurance Underwriter, and from memory most insurance companies quote on 'blanket' sums insured to prevent underinsurance. They will insure any standard building up to say ?500,00, the pricing of the insurance will depend on your type of property. However if you want an idea of your rebuild value you can try this website: http://abi.bcis.co.uk/
  11. I went to the Rosendale for the first time on Saturday night for a few drinks and dinner and absolutely loved it. I had the steak and chips which I would score 9/10, best chips I've had in a long time. The service was great, really friendly staff and the atmosphere very relaxed for a Saturday night. I'll definitely be going back there again.
  12. I agree, just seen a bright red helicopter fly by my window, it looks as though it was landing in Peckham Rye. A helicopter (or what sounded like one) also woke me up in the early hours this morning.
  13. I've just had a call from my bank last Friday saying that they have refused a transaction and when I looked at my account there was another transaction I hadn't made either. Both totalled to around ?350. I don't tend to use Sainsburys cash machines, however I have used one in the last 2 weeks. They are refunding the transaction that went through and said they will investigate this.
  14. I've been to the Palmerston 3 times over the last 12 months, twice on a Saturday evening and once for Sunday lunch and I've got no complaints about the food. As a big meat eater I've always gone for lamb or beef and both were delicious. I do agree it is expensive compared to other restaurants in ED hence the reason we don't go too often. Foodstories - I did read a bit of your blog, review on Palmerston, Your Chilli Day (congratulations!) and the Taste of London, I found it really interesting, however I do spend a scary amount of time on TopTable looking at restaurants and reviews, I think I should go out in the sunshine and get a life ;-)
  15. Sorry, just joined this thread and a definite no no for me! I admit I used to go into Maccy Ds as a child for the free toys, in my teens for the Triv scratch cards to win food, in my twentys for a breakfast hangover cure, and even lasted a 6 hour shift as a summer job in Gatwick Airport. Have you actually seen the stuff they put in between the buns, yuk, it makes my stomach churn with the thought. But then again I haven't been in there for years!!! Has it improved?
  16. All done, I've put my votes in, truely agree we should support our local establishments. Especially when the EDT is actually my local.
  17. I normally catch the train from PR in the mornings (more trains than ED), this morning the 8.43 train didn't arrive until after 9am, at least I think it was the 8.43 train, could even have been the 8.56 or 9.01. In the evenings I go to ED, but wish I hadn't tonight I was skidding all over the place and nearly fell over a dozen times. The slope out of the station was like an ice rink and very dangerous, I can't believe they haven't put grit down. My walk up East Dulwich Road was no better.
  18. After the bad service in the Plough the other Sunday we tried the Palmerston last Sunday, again we placed our roast beef orders just after 2pm and our food arrived at 2.20pm. (2 hours quicker than the Plough). The food was far better and the Yorkshire puddings were huge. I would definitely recommend the Palmerston for a Sunday roast. However I will still drink in the Plough, its a lovely pub with friendly bar staff and a good beer garden.
  19. The Plough was my favourite pub in ED however after last Sunday I would probably think twice about eating Sunday lunch there. We placed our orders at 2pm and didn't get our food until after 4pm!! We asked a few times where our food was and they reassured us it was on its way, only to be told at 3.45pm that they had accidentally thrown away the order and had run out of roasts. However they managed to find 2 slices of beef each to cobble together our 4 roasts and didn't charge us for it.
