  1. I can't think of anything the Flying Pig does better than other local options, meaning I have little reason to go, but the food is certainly worse ? and not good for US barbecue in its own right quite aside from local comparisons. If this type of food was really done well then it would certainly be a draw for me.
  2. Does anyone know a reputable place I can take an old PC and an old MacBook who will recover all my files for me? Would prefer a legit business rather than an enthusiastic computer person and am in no way technically astute enough to do it myself.
  3. I have a sideboard with a couple of wonky legs. My method of fixing has failed so I want to call in the pros. Does anyone know a decent furniture repair bod or cabinet maker that will do this kind of work?
  4. Daisy Lets didn't charge us much when we moved into our place and they've provided a reasonable service over the last couple of years as managing agents form a tenant's point of view. I agree with the sentiments about Ludlow Thompson. The agent seemed reasonable enough but they I felt like I could feel someone trying to rip my face off when we started talking about the details (and costs) of the letting agreement. If the owners of a two bed flat on the corner of Crystal Palace Road and Silvester Road that was on the market in the last couple of months are reading this, Ludlow Thompson cost you two decent tenants.
  5. My thameslink train: the 06.30, was diverted to Victoria. Problems with points and contact rail at Blackfriars.
  6. I thought it was just me that cared about toast! With regard to that picture of the Dualit conveyor toaster, far be it from me to disparage Peckham's premier industrial brand but I used one of those things at my old firm. It was a classic case of the toast coming out either looking the same as it went in, just slightly warmer, or burnt to a crisp. The standard Dualit's work much better and are probably the finest toasters I've ever used. I really wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for toast if i knew I was going to get high quality bread and real butter and not Mother's Pride and marge.
  7. I was on a winning quiz team with Simon from TV's Trev and Simon at Dulwich Cricket Club a few weeks ago. As if that wasn't thrilling enough, the quiz was hosted by the bloke from "Josse's Giants." Our edge came because of my grilfriend's expert knowledge of magazine covers and because Simon remembered the Josse from their time on the 80's alternative comedy scene. Josse had a bit of a left-wing act which allowed us to take some very educated guesses at some of the more politicised questions. Was anything funnier than "World of the Strange" and "Swing Your Pants"? I doubt it.
  8. Kid gets stabbed in broad daylight in the middle of a busy supermarket on our collective doorstep and the EDF starts debating the use of apostrophes in the name of the supermarket.
  9. Sue and Eater81 - brilliant! This is real supermarket car park stuff.

Some of the attackers scarpered off through the exit at the back of the store behind the meat counter according to the accounts on here. Good knowledge of the store layout. Would it be beyond the realms of possibilty that they had a mate there who started cleaning straight away to destroy evidence? Of course, it is much more likely it was some innocent poor cleaner just executing orders from some dimwit manager but still... Perhaps some of the perpetrators were familiar with the layout of the store. Perhaps they knew someone that worked there. Perhaps they worked there themselves. Perhaps you saw something. Perhaps you can help. Call East Dulwich CID. In the meantime, keep 'em peeled. Shaw Taylor.
  11. It would be handy if the council stopped collecting stats on grit stocks to give to councillors and actually spent some time deploying it. Westminster doesn't seem to have this problem - I have had no trouble getting around the West End all week yet, there doesn't appear to have been a single grain of salt deposited on a road in Southwark that wasn't previously resident in a kebab wrapper these past few days. The weather has been a bit icy and snowy (note, not a Siberian winter) for almost a week now. Is there any chance the council employees that spend so much of their day in Crossroads Cafe in Bellenden Road could actually get to work on the street outside? even if they just sprinkled the salt shakers on the pavement it would be a start.
  12. Hi Barry, No problem, thank you for finding out what you have so far and I look forward to reading your PM tomorrow.
  13. Definitely, brilliant route. pk Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > isn't the answer train to LB and then go over to > platform 5 (or 6) and hope on to one of the very > frequent trains to waterloo east?
  14. Hi Barry, Thanks for your update of Sep 24th - haven't been around to reply until now. Appreciate the efforts.
  15. There's a good one in Hooper's on Ivanhoe Road. This pub is criminally underused. There's a big quiz at The Gowlett on Monday's too, I think. Great pub but I'd give the pub a miss - it really drags on. It feels like an hour between rounds.
