We?re happy to take the time to recommend our builder, Kevin (07498 722350) for any project. He first did our kitchen extension and renovation 4 years ago which involved knocking through, re-building exterior wall, re-modelling old fireplace for oven and effectively building a new floor with reclaimed floorboards in order to keep the character of our Victorian terrace. His work and vision completely transformed the downstairs of our house. 2 years ago, he worked on the front of our house, completely re-rendering and restoring brickwork, installing planters and repairing the bay window top. This year, he and his team have completely re-modelled our bathroom with a modern suite, and again re-purposing the covered up fireplace to give us a brilliant solution of sink/vanity unit inside that space. The plastering and tiling are immaculate, and the floor has been sympathetically restored, again with lovely floorboards. Kevin has been working in the area for years and is 100% reliable and trustworthy when it comes to the quality of the work he produces. He will not leave a project incomplete or with anything which does not adhere to his high standards. Whilst this may take longer than expected at points, we have always been so happy with the results that a little extra time has been well worth it. Kevin also has a very positive attitude - no problem is too big to overcome and he has always been straightforward with us about any difficulties, whilst at the same time presenting solutions, which we have particularly valued in our 1850 house which has had very idiosyncratic features installed over the years! I'd like to recommend Kevin from Y and J Builders for building projects you have at home. My reasons are: 1) he showed fantastic attention to detail and did an absolutely brilliant job to extend and renovate our very old and ramshackle Victorian terrace kitchen. Through Kevin's determination and vision, we have a totally transformed space, and he has had to deal with knocking down supporting walls, putting in new foundations, joists, asbestos removal, replacing lead pipework etc. to make it a top quality job. He also made our garden a far more useable space, which hadn't been part of our original thinking, but it is fantastic and above and beyond what we'd expected. Nothing has fazed him or his team, and he very much demonstrated a 'can do' attitude to our work which we initially thought would be a small project, but turned into something far more complex owing to structural deficiencies in our existing house. He is meticulous, which has also meant the job taking longer, but has definitely been worth it. 2) great communication with us throughout the job from start to finish. 3) hardworking - Kevin was often here well into the evenings and weekends to get the work done. 4) considerate - to our neighbours and our personal space. We have a young child and baby on the way and Kevin did everything he could within the circumstances to accommodate our needs. 5) reliable and trustworthy - Kevin has been at pains to ensure we have been happy with the work, well after we paid our final instalment, which to me is a very good sign. His team have also been great, top notch decorator and various other contractors whom he works with. Overall, if you want a personal service, with a highly skilled and knowledgeable builder with a great attention to detail and appreciation for quality, we'd recommend Kevin. Just wanted to add our recommendation for Lilli and her team for house cleaning We've used their services for over 2 years, and they've always been 100% trustworthy, reliable, thorough and flexible (we've had to stop and start a few times and it's been no problem). Lilli and her team are really friendly too - we're rarely at home when they come, but when we are they are really considerate (very handy with a little toddler running around!). I'd like to recommend Colin Douglas at Wizard Interiors ([email protected] 07961 397430). He installed our new bathroom suite, including some bespoke adjustments and tiled the whole room to an outstanding standard. He was able to advise on layout and sourcing of materials - very useful for two novices to bathroom design! We were so pleased with the bathroom that we also commissioned him to do our kitchen the following year and again we were most satisfied - especially as he was able to adapt standard sized appliances within our fairly idiosyncratic kitchen space. Again, the tiling was superb. Both bathroom and kitchen projects were completed in excellent time and to budget - Colin's professionalism, willingness to keep communication channels open and good humour made him and his team a pleasure to work with. We're pleased to recommend him.

I'd like to add a recommendation for Dave Franklin and his team 07956 688622 at Berdec. We had some stripping and repainting to do on our front bay window, plus rebuilding and repainting front garden wall. Very professional job, worked over bank holiday weekend and it looks brilliant - a total transformation for a very reasonable price. They also repainted our drainpipe/gutter which we hadn 't realised was part of the deal! He also offered to touch up any bits which needed it. We 're most satisfied customers.

Another recommendation for Greg - and my reason for my first post on the EDF. Quick response to initial inquiry, lots of advice on ideas for shelving in our alcoves (we went for reclaimed wood shelves around fireplace) no attempts at 'up selling' and did the job in less time than he estimated, at a very reasonable price.
