  1. My Y5 son brought home his maths textbook a couple of weeks ago
  2. marketing hyperbole, not journalism
  3. Cameron is a pr man. Gives good speech but all quips and no substance. Unless you go for the Tory thing and then of course you'd gobble it up.
  4. Me and my friend very much enjoyed our catch up there yesterday. Fantastic coffee, lovely staff and I could see across the road blackbird was incredibly busy so of course, what with being a popular London area, there is room for more than one cafe to thrive.
  5. Yes, my son had absolutely superb care and treatment at King's Dental Hospital, and also fantastic treatment/care at Half Moon Dental. But all experiences vary, I guess.
  6. I'm interested, too.
  7. You don't need to be on benefits to be struggling financially, believe me.
  8. I see your point, LondonMix, but I do know local older people, in their 70s and 80s, who are mobile but not at all computer literate and who are very sad about losing this shop. 9. I think it's a lovely idea. Gin is good but I have always appreciated the books my own mother gave me at that age.
  10. Maya Angelou's I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings? My mother bought me The Group by Mary McCarthy before I embarked on my degree and it stayed with me, and I bought my two best friends from uni the book while we were there (they're still my best friends.) Katherine Mansfield is great too, and V Woolf was v jealous of her!
  11. I had a very positive experience there with my 9 year old - the staff couldn't have been nicer and more welcoming to us, and were especially lovely with him. I was surprised as with my innate chip-on-shoulder I expected we wouldn't be quite Dulwich Village-y enough but they proved me wrong, happily.
  12. I can't wait for a Morrisons near the station.
  13. It went all through the night, not just till midnight. I haven't slept for 2 nights!
  14. Thank you, Deborah - very well said indeed.
  15. I didn't say it was an okay thing to do, just queried why we needed a hashtag and also why 'gyppos'? *Rolls eyes back*
  16. Why should we? This isn't Twitter. And are they Asian, Gypsies, Eastern European...? Any other nationality the good people of East Dulwich doesn't like?
  17. Half Moon Dental, especially Neil Mason - my son had terrible teeth as a young child, even had to have work done under a general at King's, but thanks to advice from Neil as well as some super-extra vigilant work at home, he's now got perfect teeth and no fear of the dentist.
  18. Seconding Bawdy-Nan - thank you all
  19. And being from the 'liberal elite', whatever that means. It's a phone, she got it back, bravo passers-by who helped her and I'm sorry she found it so distressing, but some attitudes of posters on here disturb me quite a bit.
  20. I was commenting on the posters on the thread as opposed to the original incident. Sounds like there was still a chase once the phone was returned. And kid or not, desire for physical revenge is not attractive (to me).
  21. Wow. This forum scares me. Personally I would have called the police, not bayed for his blood.
  22. I don't think she has - her e in dear is the same in Michael, and the dot is for the i in the first part of Michael. And if we're being picky, it's not miss spelled, its misspelled. Anyway. She was very supportive indeed during the initial primary shortage back in 2009, so I'm very happy to read this letter.
