-
Hi there, I was just wondering if anybody has experience of SENCO within Dulwich Village infants? I need to apply for schools shortly for my son, who has autism. Thanks

Generally the kids TV shows are in French. We loaded the iPad with different shows, which kept the kids happy.

Just received mine in the post today.

Southwark electoral services, I haven't had mine either which is why I chased. They seem to be cutting it fine!
-
I spoke to them about this last week. They have completed two sends, one on 25th May and the last send was completed yesterday. Therefore you should receive it this week, as they are sent first class.

My son is 3 years and 2 months and has been undergoing an ABA programme since September last year. He is still non verbal, but his concentration has improved dramatically as have his social skills. His ABA tutor attends his nursery 4 days a week and he has 2 hours at home on the day he isn't at nursery. The new ABA approach certainly isn't "Pavlov dog" training. My son's programme is learning through play.It is expensive, but for us, has definitely been worth it. We also found out through ABA that our son knew a lot more than we anticipated (the alphabet, colours etc) It is tough, as it is hard to know what to do for the best. Have you attended any of the early years courses offered by Southwark?

It really depends which SALT you get, as my son had way more than 12 hours last year but this year has only had 2 hours!

How to download tv series for free
kristyl replied to Angelina's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
As someone who works in the film industry, I find this infuriating. Downloading content without paying is the type of practice that puts people out of work. It is also commonly known as stealing. The series is available on iTunes, Netflix and the DVD is available to purchase. -
Victorian Half House - Extension Dilemma

Hi there, There were two houses just completed before Christmas (near the sorting office) on Silvester Rd. They were completed by Michael at the New Zealand loft conpany. He could probably help you with ideas. -

My husband and I have been through this too. My son is now 3, still non verbal but such improvements in other areas. If you do want to talk, feel free to PM me. -
No, Southwark.

I originally posted in September. My daughter was offered the BCG on the NHS in early December, so it may be worth holding out. She had just turned 11 months and they were playing catch up. It was mentioned that they would extend the age range in order to vaccinate the kids who missed out due to the shortage.

Concerned toddlor is autistic..
kristyl replied to blacklashez's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My son has speech therapy and he also has ABA. We pay for ABA with child autism UK. My son has a program tailored to him and his needs. He has a tutor and is learning through play and also working on compliancy. He now has great eye contact, responds to his name and has started babbling a lot more. He seems to have gone to the next phase of communication. We also found out through ABA that he can recognise the alphabet, count to 10 and other things we had no idea about due to his lack of speech. -

I completely understand your apprehension. My son was diagnosed with autism at 2 years 4 months. It is very early and again he only had a couple of autistic traits. He did have a speech regression though, which was the key thing. However, I understand the waiting is tortuous, but just try and enjoy your son in the meantime. I found I analysed my sons every move, which isn't fun. If your son does get a diagnosis at least you can get the help needed. My son has improved greatly in a very short space of Time due to therapies. Plus Southwark has a great support system. Good luck. -
Advice on speech therapy sessions
kristyl replied to blacklashez's topic in The Family Room Discussion
There are Chatter Time sessions at children's centres. They are run by speech and language therapists, who can usually provide one on one guidance and weekly tips. They helped my son and were able to refer him for speech therapy. He then had the same therapist that ran the sessions we attended at Bessemer Grange. -
Thanks for the message. I think my daughter is going to be one before it is available, so we will miss this one out.

Thanks for the info xx

Hi all, My daughter was born in January and scheduled to have her BCG in April. This was postponed due to the national shortage and still has yet be rescheduled. I called her health visitor today and was told they have no idea when it will be available. I am thinking of trying to get this done privately, but upon investigation today it seems most places no longer have it. Anyone else going through this and have you found anywhere reasonably priced that still has it? Thanks,
-
I don't want to worry you unduly, but I would request a referral to sunshine house for an autism test. My son was diagnosed in April at 2.4 months and basically had very similar behaviours. He too became a big brother and I too was told by many how their friends etc didn't talk until they were three. It helps soothe you, but Unfortunately it isn't normal for a child to not have a number of words by 2. Early intervention with autism is key and my son has started to thrive from the number of therapies. Good luck.

King's college hospital - birth registration
kristyl replied to Love_London's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Brixton often has long wait times, so you can see the Lambeth registrar at Southwark. They are there twice a week I believe. My daughter was born in January at kings and I was told there was an 8 week wait for an appointment in Brixton. They did suggest Southwark and I had her birth certificate within two days.
