I have used the same solicitor for 5 property transactions and would highly recommend, but he's not local: Northampton. But he does a lot of the work via email so I have never found the distance to be an issue (I've only ever bought and sold in London). He's very bright, spots issues and deals with complex transactions well. So if you're happy with using someone in Northampton, speak to Hassan Shah at SP Law LLP. He's one of the founder partners, the practice is growing well and he does a lot of landlord and tenant and other matters too.

One of my friends is blind and wants someone to come to her home with fabric samples etc for her and her boyfriend to choose from and then have curtains made to measure using that fabric. The in-shop services (e.g. John Lewis) are difficult for her. Does anyone have a recommendation please? Thanks!

Hello, I can't do Sunday but the weather is meant to be nice tomorrow and I might head out somewhere if anyone else is keen? I'm usually a bit of a wimp and just go and do loops of Richmond park, but I'd be keen to head elsewhere if someone is up for a bit of an explore for a couple of hours. I'm not especially fit, have only been cycling a few months (very sporadically) but am quite comfortable doing 50-60km in 2.5-3 hours.

I've had a bit of a nightmare with a 10 year old boiler that had never been serviced before I bought the house late last year. Ashley came out to service it and then to repair one part, then another part gave way, and he came out twice in 2 days, over the weekend, at really short notice. He also cleaned up and repaired a part to save me over ?100 on a new part. All at a very reasonable price, and he's really pleasant, keeps clean and tidy, and turns up when he says he will. Matthew Hansen 07939530699 He and his colleague George just did a great job on my hall stairs and landing - 2 flights of stairs with goodness knows how many spindles, all perfectly prepped and painted for a remarkable price.

Another resounding recommendation for Matthew and team. Worked hard, promptly, the finish is perfect throughout and every night I got home the place was so tidy I wouldn't have known they were there had it not been for the paintwork. Excellent price, excellent service and I would very happily use them again.

Steve's prices are very reasonable and he arrived very promptly to clear my garden. Steve didn't complete all the work first time so I had to ask him to come back to complete the job. I ended up waiving a couple of things because he didn't bring the right tools with him when he returned. An important part of the job I wanted done was for Steve to remove a large tree. The tree and the root ball were removed, however it was not clear to me until afterwards that Steve would not take it away. As the council wouldn't take it away and Steve would not help I had to sort this out separately; I would therefore recommend you be very clear as to the scope of what Steve will be doing for you.

Another recommendation for Alan (All Locked Out). I rang him with a problem with my front door lock and he talked me through fixing it without needing a locksmith.
