Can anyone give me any ideas for what to buy an active (crawling) one year old boy for his first birthday? We live in a small flat with no garden and very little storage, which complicates things! I plan to get rid of some of his other toys which are baby focussed. But what will engage him now and last a few months at least? Is he too young for a train set?

ooh great ideas, both of them - thanks!

Hello I know this has been asked before, but I can't find any recent threads ... I am looking for a venue for a naming ceremony. Ideally a pub or a cafe with a private room for hire, that is wheelchair accessible, kid friendly and within walking distance (eg 30 mins) of Denmark Hill station. I have looked into community centres but they all seem quite big for the crowd we're expecting, and I'm also not sure we'd be able to cope with catering it ourselves. thanks Mary

Family friendly cafe or pub for a big group in east dulwich?

Thank you everyone! I will check all these out - is the Victoria the one I've heard of that has a video link to the play room?! -
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm looking for a recommendation for a pub or a cafe for 8 adults and 2 kids (1 baby and a four year old) to drink/ wile away a Saturday afternoon! We were going to go out for lunch hut some of us are on a tight budget, so we are trying to find somewhere to meet for a drink instead. Are there any family friendly pubs that might have space to accommodate us? I am the one with a baby, and while I'm an expert on east dulwich cafes, I don't know anywhere with enough space for 8 adults and a toddler as well. Thanks

Hi all Can anyone recommend a restaurant for two tired new parents to go to for lunch on Christmas Eve? We will have a buggy (and a baby), so it has to be family-friendly to an extent. Also, we are both veggies and my partner is gluten intolerant (so we can't eat Italian food, unfortunately). We have recently moved to the area and know the cafes fairly well, but it would be really nice to be able to book a table and have a festive lunch we can look forward to. thanks Mary

Can anyone recommend a good hairdresser who does home visits in the area? I have a young baby and it's difficult to visit a salon
