  1. I can highly recommend the dermatologists at Kings- they saw me with a mystery rash in pregnancy. They were excellent so I would suggest being referred to see them. I saw Dr Creamer who was superb.
  2. I really feel for you prdarling. We had exactly the same experience with Fairlawn Nursery- they offered us a place at 4pm one day and wanted a reply by 9am the next morning. Our daughter was already at Goose Green nursery and thriving there. We made the decision to stay at Goose Green. For school places next year Fairlawn is our first choice as it is our closest community school. I think as people have said children do adapt and you loved the school so I would go for Fairlawn. I wish you luck with your decision. I hope we have a similar choice of two lovely schools come September!
  3. I second the pound shop on Rye Lane- loads of christmas decorations.
  4. Zoe- thanks for your feedback re Horniman- its on my list but I am not sure we will get in there. It sounds quite similar to Ivydale which I went to see last week- it was also quite laidback, lots of free and imaginative playtime etc I would be thrilled to get into either!
  5. What did you think of Horniman Zoe? I missed the tour today- its hard to fit them all in so you are not the only one who has missed some!
  6. We are just starting the application process too. We are also quite far from our closest school Fairlawn and it will not have a bulge class this year .. so we will have to keep everything crossed. I remember reading the thread about this last year- it is hard not to get stressed about it all!
  7. I dont know the exact numbers but it is quite small which I really like. The teachers are brilliant and our little one has thrived there.
  8. She is a permanent fixture I believe- my daughter goes to the nursery there- which is brilliant. I really hope people living locally look at GG this year as it is a rapidly changing school.I know people in the main school as well and they all speak highly of the school. GG has had a poor name in the past I know but if you actually go and look around and see it now I think most people would be really surprised and impressed!
  9. Same here for us- Goodrich and Heber ,no letter or contact. Ivydale, Goose Green and Fairlawns all were really effective in contacting us about a nursery place.
  10. Thanks so much to everyone who replied. Its great to hear such positive feedback.
  11. we have been unexpectedly offered a place here and have to make a decision virtually overnight- if anyone has any feedback I would really appreciative- pm me if you prefer! thanks so much
  12. We used to go to the church one opposite Peckham Rye Train Station on a Weds morning. It was really good and suitable for toddlers- lots of outdoor space and a nice friendly mix of people
  13. The chemist on Forest Hill Rd - next door to Si Mangia- has a small selection of wool also.
  14. Hi I have a 26 year old nanny in East Dulwich with a one year old who would be happy to meet if you want to pm me.
  15. It was such a lovely day. We were in the Carnival Parade for the first time with my daughter- such fun and she was rightly proud of all her lovely schoolmates and teachers.
  16. This is brilliant news. My daughter is at nursery there and we are so impressed with the whole team- they have a lovely manner and are really dedicated to improving the school as far as I can see.
  17. My poor little boy aged nine months has had a severe winter vomiting bug and ended up in Kings on a drip. He was weaning beautifully but now will not eat a thing- I suspect he is scared it will hurt his tum or make him feel sick etc I remember someone once telling me they used some kind of probiotic drops and it helped- have any of you lovely forumites had experience of this or any tips on tempting him to eat? Thanks so much
  18. We have found having a nanny brilliant- we have been lucky in having the same nanny for over two years now and our children adore her. With two children to look after I think ?8 per hour is quite cheap and you may find most nannies want more like ?10 per hour plus tax/NI though!
  19. I HAVE BEEN LOTS- ITS GREAT REALLY FUN AND FRIENDLY WITH A BIG OUTDOOR SPACE TOO. PLENTY TO ENTERTAIN ALL AGES AND YOU CAN GO AND SEE THE DINOSAURS IN THE PARK AFTERWARDS ETC!
  20. Or you could donate to a Mother and Baby Unit for mums with mental health issues who often have very litle money- the closest one is in Beckenham at the Bethlem Royal Hospital.
  21. I had severe itching in my last pregnancy due to Pemphigoid. I found Aqueous cream with Menthol in it quite helpful. The dermatologists at Kings were amazing and so if your GP is unclear re a diagnosis after bloods have been done I would push for a referral- I got seen within a few days. Hope you feel better soon!
  22. Thanks so much- the website is brilliant.
  23. I have a Bebe Confort Streety pram. Does anyone know which buggy boards fit? The ones they sell in Soupdragon do not fit and I just wondered if anyone with a streety could tell me which type they use! Many Thanks!
  24. My little one went to Asquith Peckham Rye on Waveney Rd- she loved it and we were really happy there. We waited about six months for a place as I recall.
  25. We didnt use an agency- We put an advert on Gumtree and got lots of replies- over 90. We described where we lived- our child's age and the hours we wanted per week. We gave an hourly rate and said we would pay tax/NI We asked for references and full CRB checks. We ended up with a shortlist of five who we met with pre them meeting the kids. Then the two we liked best came and spent a morning with the kids. We also printed off a standard contract from the internet and both signed it. Hope this is of some help!
