  1. On Saturday night I had half a dozen at a reputable restaurant down LL. Known for its continental cuisine and lovely covered patio garden. Within an hour of eating I was heaving....until the wee hours. Not a Happy Camper....
  2. Reminds me of this article....a follow on from Captain Birdseye.....tbat is just so funny. What a crap article. Oh yeah serious money saving solutions. NO job, no money....go spend on something else you don't need. EAT A PIECE OF FRUIT WOMAN!.... and go and find a job.
  3. Matham.... ahh The Magdala....don't get me going... lol
  4. and i thought it was just me....how does it stay afloat.
  5. Seemingly....a few of the stores still have them I was just down getting a pressie for my lovely neighbour and saw them...
  6. I suspect a lot of people "with no junk mail" signs also missed out. Shame they couldn't run a coupon add in SE22 Mag. I reckon the cost of that would have been a fraction of the hand delivered distribution cost. Maybe we could have downloaded one also from a dedicated url. or even this.....what do we all get every week anyway? Rubbish collections, recycling collections, post, these guys could have hand delivered the leaflets. i.e stick a sticker voucher on our recycle bags (peel and take in). That way the council is not paying for a 100% new distribution (that obviously failed). The dustman do this sort of thing with xmas notices... Just a few thoughts..
  7. sure, better is good, particularly if it's a restaurant. I'd love to be close to The Palmerston. It's my favourite place to eat!
  8. I must say, the link is superb. 4 stops to London Bridge....just don't expect a seat. I do usually get one after 8.30 though....
  9. I'm aka Percy Dowling :)-D *kidding* No seriously I love our house and the location. When you live in London I believe you have the following choices for locations....main roads, near a railway line, nosey neighbours (usually of the well worn/ long in the tooth/ too much time on their hands), weird/ ferral neighbours, noisey neighbours, subsidence, crime hotspot, too expensive, too hoity toity, too dull, too conservative, too 2 dimensional....need I go on. I am cool with being close to a pub, it makes for a convenient life. But I'm still keen on seeing it upgraded..... And we have the nicest neighbours...so lucky! a few lager louts don't really bother us that much when you weigh up everything else. :))
  10. And Keef, there are "drinkers" and then there are "drinkers".... I do feel sorry for the big fat bloke that camps there of a night to enjoy his pint or 2 or 3. Who's going to love him now. He'll look a bit odd in a fancified establishment.
  11. I lived here before it was built....
  12. We didn't get the vouchers either....Landcroft Rd. I hope you didn't pay the dist co. In a commercial world they would be FIREDDDDD! aka Ms Sugar. Funny how we all love a freeby. (tu)
  13. you've got to be kidding right? I may have been at a different plough to you.... :(
  14. I always walk as I haven't had much luck with parking....I was advocating FREE resident parking not Parking permits. thanks
  15. In the heart of ED i.e nr the shops, it's a nightmare. A bit further afield is better. Pellatt and beyond to the south. Not sure about the north side. And from beyond Crystal Palace Rd to East. The very issue I think is the free parking. It should only be free to residents of ED.
  16. My vote too. I'd welcome a fairly priced/ high quality/ restaurant/ bar, much like the Palmerston. God I love the food there. And the service is awesome. The Manager really knows just the right amount attention to give and is great on his wine list. It's a credit to East Dulwich. Sure I can't afford to eat there every week, but it's what I look forward to eating at and I have never been disappointed yet. Lunch specials rock too. It reminds me of an amazing and rustic bar/ restaurant in Paris. k
  17. My point was more that the patrons of an older-style pub who drink pint after pint (and often don't eat) are less desirable than ones who do eat. OK, yes they too may drink and drive, which is unnacceptable. But from a personal view a restaurant will have a far less rowdy and obnoxious customer. KalamityKel, I don't mean to offend you, but you obviously don't live in an ear-shot of the Magadala. I've heard bear-talking mumblings about all-sorts of relationship dilemmas. Swearing, general stupid late night carry on like..... "aww babe, babe listen to me, i aint gonna do it again, I werent doin anyfing rong, I promise"....
  18. Sorry fellas, I prefer the restaurant option...I'm happy to be rid of the pack of regulars that drink there and drive home! very naughty.
  19. Surely someone knows what's happening....nothing is ever secret too long in ED.
  20. ...that's the problem, that's all I know. i.e that it has allegedly been sold. Rumours a few months back was that several chains were interested in getting in on the ED strip. The staff member distinctly said it was a private businessman, but that's all he knew. Maybe another Gastro-pub awaits us....Perhaps the patrons might be a slightly less rowdy? who knows. It was one of the last remaining "old Codger" hangouts. Oh and Trivia night is gone...Peace on Sundays for a while....
