  1. Indeed Ted. I think the original poster has rather scaremongered in his/her telling of events. This event could have happened anywhere.
  2. Hello Keef.>:D< I would not leave this area because of the 'crime', and I do not fear for my children growing up in London. In fact, I would rather they grow up in London than a provincial town. I embrace the multi-culturalism, and diverse activities and cultural events. Personally, I would not be wandering around the Bellenden Rd area at 11PM on my own (was she on her own?). I would probably be OK with Lordship lane at that time as it is still relatively busy, but even so I would be very cautious.
  3. Crikey, there's me thinking that that area was like a village. :(
  4. Yes. I have been emailing the chap in charge of the 1 0 Clock club. His name is Garry Martin ([email protected]). DON'T FORGET THE TWO 'R's in his name or the emails come bouncing back!
  5. I have it on good authority (see email below) that the aforementioned is re-opening on its original site, next to the Cafe on Monday 14th July.Yay! After months, being temporarily sited in a dark and rather dingy hall, with little to no outside space, it is good to hear that the original site will be up and running in less than a fortnight. Fingers crossed that the council stick to the 14th. "Peckham Rye Playroom Unfortunately, due to subsidence affecting the safety of the building, the playroom could not be used by its usual client group ( parents/carers and toddlers ), so we looked for an alternative that was still within walking distance. I am aware that the community hall is not ideal, but it was the only venue that we could locate, in the catchment area. I will get the playroom manager to check the hall as soon as possible, and let you know if it remains adequate to use. There have been a number of factors that have caused a delay in returning to the buiding. At first, we were looking at replacing the existing building with a large Portakabin type building, using funds from the local Cleaner, Greener, Safer programme. This was put on hold, as we had discovered that the council was investigating the possibility of placing a multi-use building in that area of the park, which would include a purpose built playroom. This study is still currently being assessed. Though the larger project presented a great opportunity for the playroom, it was becoming clear that this would be a longer-term solution, so we decided to look at bringing the old building back into use, at least for the medium-term, while the larger project was developing. This ment demolishing some internal walls and making repairs and upgrading/replacing the electric supply, which had also been condemed. It was expected that the works would cost approx 18k to complete, money which we had to find. Resources were found to undertake the external electrical works in April, but in testing the building, additional works were required. These additional electrical works have recently been completed. The internal walls will be removed within the next two weeks and the making good will be carried out on the week of the 7th July. The facility will reopen to the general public on 14th July and its Mon-Fri opening will be reinstated from then on.
  6. I find the parking fine. It is free, and I always find a spot. You may not get one outside your home, but I usually get one close by. I cannot comment on the trains as I drive to work. British Rail? I thought Maggie thatcher got rid of it.
  7. LOL, SteveT. No I am assured it was ?25 a cake by the very lady, Beth's friend, who makes them. I have to admit at being rather stunned at the cost, but apparently they are selling like hot cakes. I am sure they are very nice.
  8. Dear Beth, is it true that the cakes are delicious in the cake shop? How much do they cost? Someone told me the other day that they cost ?25 a cake, but I know the ingredients are organic so obviously the makers must cover their costs.
  9. Can you give some examples of She was proper offensive on a number of threads'? MadWorld has had a good loock and can't find anything. Perhaps you can help 'bignumber5'. Thank you so much. And it is 'argument' - without an 'e'. Your posting is actually very offensive and rude.
  10. Poor Spangles is so upset at being banned she has gone for a stroll down Bellenden Rd, wearing the shoes she recently purchased from davina Boutique. On the way home she will undoubtedly purchase some ornaments from some of the shops in Lordship Lane, before meeting her best friend SeanMacGabhann for a coffee. Best he check it for arsenic before imbibing.
  11. Yes Keef. I have it on very good authority that she is! It would be interesting to know what she did to warrant being banned! Any idea?
  12. Can you mail Spangles and tell her why she was banned? Or perhaps you can state publically the reason(s). Was she 'racist' or 'aggressive'? She believes it is because she called Sean McGabbhan's postings 'insipid'. I quite liked Spangles's postings. She says she received no warnings about her 'behaviour'. What did she do wrong? Will I get banned for posing this question?
