  1. The ELT in Clapham is excellent. Not the cheapest but very good teachers.
  2. Hello, would you mind telling me where that dining table came from ?! Thanks!
  3. They did our lunch loft about 9/10 years ago. Good company. High standard of work. Had major issues with their architect at the time but I imagine he?s gone by now.
  4. Just used Aston after finding him in the forum. We had a very small job, fixing a kitchen cupboard where the hinges had come off. Desperate to get it done before Xmas. Aston came to the rescue. Quick, efficient and reasonable.
  5. Hello, did you happen to find anyone? We want an excellent tiler, too. Thanks !
  6. Sorry to say we haven't had as good an experience as other posters on this thread.
  7. I would recommend: http://www.conleyandco.com Really good, practical and creative ideas. Local, too.
  8. I've just used Thames Garage Doors to replace a rotten wood side access door with a metal one. They did a very good job for us. Reasonable price and v nice to deal with.
  9. I would not suggest using an au pair to look after babies or toddlers. We have had nannies and have moved onto au pairs now kids are at school. Live in nanny is a better way to go, more expensive but you get what you pay for. Or perhaps you could find someone with a bit of experience who might be a helping hand for a few hours here and there. Just speaking from personal experience.
  10. Just wondering where you get the best prices for wood logs, kindling wood and smokeless coal? Keen to stock up for the winter and think there must be a better way than buying ad hoc bags at petrol stations!
  11. I'd like to post a recommendation for Michael Coley Garden Design. Our garden was trashed after building work and we needed some professional help to start all over again. Mike caught my eye as having been shortlisted for the "RHS Young Garden Designer of the Year 2016" award. We thought as a young, local, business, we'd give him a crack at it. Given our tight budget, Mike produced a contemporary layout that we can expand and build on over the next few years as well as suggest suitable plants. It was just the job and we are very pleased. He was flexible, accommodating and full of good ideas.
  12. We've just had a letter from the ELT in Clapham informing us that the school is having to close at the end of this term. The landlord wants to develop the spaces into flats and the owner can't find suitable new premises for his school. Bit of a blow as I know it is very popular for East Dulwich au pairs. If anyone has any alternative suggestions do let me know. We have sent an au pair to the language school in Greenwich in the past but it's not very easy to get to, esp for their early lessons.
  13. Our child went right through from nursery to end of Year 2 and loved it. We found the staff incredibly caring and the teaching first class. For what it's worth, he never felt any pressure.
  14. Hi, We are thinking of getting a metal security gate installed to block access to side return area of our property to reduce risk of burglary. Anyone done this and got a company they'd recommend? Many thanks.
  15. Thank you, Gardenman! I may well give you a call as I fear we may screw it up!
  16. And how much should decent turf cost per square metre? Any ideas if there is a certain type to go, as well as where? Thanks!
  17. My son really loved Herne Hill. Felt like a very happy school with lots of great teachers. Must say from our experience we didn't feel he was under any pressure at all. Very kind and caring.
  18. We used Outlook Lofts who did a very good for us with quality finish. Planning process was stressful but they may be using a different architect now.
  19. Why was this other thread removed? Given the outlay, forum users need to be warned about this company.
  20. Thank you, did you use a special adhesive? And do you find the porcelain tile is retaining its colour?
  21. Just wondered if anyone has used a porcelain tile for patio area? We are looking at standard thickness tiles which are non slip and supposedly able to be used as an exterior. Bad idea? We are quite keen to use the same style of tile outside and in, with slightly different finish. Grateful for any thoughts or advice.
