  1. Van Morrison (no Van, no Stones). Roxy Music, Mott the Hoople, Cockney Rebel, T.Rex
  2. "hip but quintessential London village of East Dulwich". Another journalist who lives here then.
  3. Fleetwood Mac. Rumours is still a great album.
  4. Santana. Looking at the previous posts it seems to be mainly down to personal taste, so it'll probably be the same names. It may also depend on who rates them - does critical opinion count more than popularity? Worth remembering too that their reputation may not have grown organically and may be partly due to misguided PR or celebrity stuff. With Coldplay, for example, the Gwyneth Paltrow link certainly added something to how people see them.
  5. If emmableu turns out to be someone's alter ego created for wind-up purposes, I'm going to be quite annoyed, obviously.
  6. Some ED people do seem to be amusingly conflicted in that way, if this forum's anything to go by.
  7. Wrong thread. You wanted the 'Dulwich Estate modern day Robin Hood' one.
  8. Let me know how their punctuation looks. If it's better than here I may join you.
  9. Can I just say, the subject line of this thread needs a capital letter at the beginning and a question mark at the end. Possibly the most annoying thing about it so far.

I can see your point, and sorry if my post came across as aimed at you in particular as that wasn't my intention. I know one or two people who've been badly bruised in this forum so it was more in that spirit.
  11. Spoken like a true Londoner, Louisa. I've just been reading an autobiography from the 1870s in which the author says that even as a child she knew that London was the ultimate destination because there are no road signs in the middle to other places, which is still true in a way.
  12. Reminds me of a guy I went out with a few times who kept referring to me as a nice, middle-class girl his mother would approve of. I couldn't find the heart to tell him that he would do better to check whether being middle class was something I also aspired to, so I'm afraid he had to go.
  13. Also please let's not weigh into someone when they've been brave enough to mention they've been dealing with depression! Personal comments may have much more of an effect than you intended. Emmableu, good to hear ED is a happier place for you and I hope it stays that way.
  14. Drinking a skinny latte? You were asking for it.
  15. Kate Nash exists so that Frisky & Mannish could cross her with Kate Bush: Wuvverin' Haaaights...
  16. Other Nams I have known, growing up in Stanglia, were Freck, Fake and Lav.
  17. What's wrong with Nick Cave?

Tuneless droning. > > > Looking forward for you > > "Aretha Franklin. Just Shouts" post RPC :) Wrong - love Aretha Franklin. She can sing, unlike Bob moan drone Dylan. ETA: I always found Whitney Houston rather shouty though.

I sometimes have to relieve my feelings with a sotto voce commentary as to a small child: 'Use your words', 'Say please', 'And now you say thank you' etc. Slight fear it may be less sotto than I think at times.
  20. Yes, I think this should be the link: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1394914
  21. Surely for a manic phase you'd need something like Ace of Spades.
  22. Not sure you could call Penge inner city, even now! Still very much suburbia to me.
