  1. Smite them with an STD more like.
  2. Not in it, apart from what's in the restaurants. I think the nearest are the Plough and the Alleyn's Head, both Village borders.
  3. Perhaps best not to name them here, innocent until proven guilty etc. I probably just have a suspicious mind!
  4. Apparently they're adding a boutique hotel and restoring the pub. It's supposed to be open again in 15 months. From the Court Lane side there has been building work going on for some time already, so I'm wondering if it's going to have an entrance there as well. More details in the latest issue of The Dulwich Society's magazine: http://www.dulwichsociety.com/2014-autumn/1057-villagers-notebook
  5. How is it irrelevant? It's an obvious identifying feature in any description those involved would give to the police. You might as well say that describing him as a man is sexist. Good luck with your data analysis.
  6. Oh stop it, no one's generalising about colour or race.
  7. I thought that too! Did you look at all the posts from that user name? There does seem to be theme there. 8. ????: plenty of us middle class blow-ins go to East Street market (on our bikes down the nice Surrey Canal bike path) as we can get 10 avocadoes for a pound and lots of great stuff for juicing. One of my favourite winter weekend activities is buying whatever's a pound a bowl and seeing if I can make soup from it.
  9. This is probably too late to be helpful but there are cycle racks on some of the platforms inside Waterloo. They should be safer as they'll be on CCTV and there'll be security.
  10. Thanks, that's much clearer now. *stamps off to passive aggressive aka 'wrong thread' thread*

On the shouting/fist-waving, how is that different from any other thread?
  12. LD, I was talking about words that reflect an aspect of our culture that I'm not keen on, but by all means take it to extremes and be dismissive if it makes you feel good.

Your interpretation not mine, but you're right to the extent that men do narcissism differently.
  14. You're so lucky to have that clarity.
  15. ...though that's conjecture too, of course.
  16. Normal, in other words.
  17. I wonder what a 15-year-old not being toilet trained means?
  18. No doubt, but I heard it on BBC radio. (ETA, sorry, crossed with yours. Not sure why mine is displaying in italics too; must be catching.)

It's always a news item at the start of each school year. I'm not sure detoxify is the right word anyway as it's not really about toxins and there's more involved than your liver...
  20. Would that be a job or a relationship? Sounds like a big moment of truth, whatever it was about.
  21. Now at 898 signatures, mine included. Will it reach 1,000 before the end of the week?
  22. By the way, did you know you can now have your vitamin D levels checked by post? I'm putting this straight in the irk thread so it's handier for you.
  23. vgrant Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > the woman on the train yesterday talking about > going on a detox. Not the woman herself, but those > who make and market this shite by reinforcing > insecurities and body image ting. innit Wasn't me, but don't knock it till you've tried it (a proper one though or you're wasting your money). Most people use the word detox to mean having a slightly less self-indulgent lifestyle for a bit. The real thing is nothing to do with body image. I can't bear the words 'pampering, 'spa' or 'me time', either - if you ask me that's what's leading to five-year-olds arriving at school still in nappies and unable to have a conversation.
  24. Dark. Feel slightly sad now. Bake-off tomorrow though, hooray. I watch on iPlayer so I can FFW whenever Sue Perkins says anything (circuitous route but back on topic now).

To be fair, the irk thread has only been around for less than a fortnight, give it a chance. BTW (personal Q, sorry), do you ever think about updating your user name? You must be practically part of the establishment by now, surely?
