  1. Krull! The horses!
  2. The Hobbit was pretty dire, but mainly due to lack of pace and editing. I had to leave after thirty minutes. Even the lovable Martin Freeman's two-step reaction thing wasn't enough to keep me there. All of the Harry Potters are pretty bad, redeemed only by the older (aka proper) actors. I appreciate that kind of filming is hard on a child actor though as it's all CGI, green screen and reaction shots. Not a fan of CGI generally.
  3. Both films you can enjoy more with the sound off.
  4. Gerrard Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Under the Skin - a second stinker in recent years > from Scarlett Johansson It's like a piece of coursework by a third-year student. Now it's on DVD, male viewers may be swayed by the opportunity to view a naked Scarlett Johansson frame by frame at their leisure, however.

  6. I've never managed to stay awake the whole way through 2001: A Space Odyssey.
  7. Waited in for someone who didn't bother to show up or let me know they were cancelling. Entire fcuking day wasted. So rude.
  8. Any romcom with Adam Sandler in.
  9. Just about to do the same to the pair feasting on the one I trod on in the dark last night. They're everywhere.
  10. This is one of my favourite London events and a fantastic chance to see inside buildings that aren't usually open to the public. http://www.openhouselondon.org.uk/ What's anyone planning to see? I can't see another thread on this already so apologies if I'm duplicating.
  11. I'm blushing. Are you any good at disposing of dead mice, though? I've set a trap knowing I won't be able to go near it when the time comes, so right now that's even higher on my list of desirable attributes.
  12. And that's just my collection of bedsocks. Important to keep the extremities warm.
  13. Sounds like showing off to me.
  14. Not like that! Oh dear. 15. Have you reached the age where being sent straight to bed when you get home would be a reward rather than a punishment?

  17. You could try one of the little phone shops in Rye Lane. Or hang around ED station and ask anyone in a hoodie.
  18. All over London there are outwardly respectable people tiptoeing around their gardens brutalising slugs in the dark so their neighbours don't see.
  19. It's nauseating. But in 20 or so years they'll see a film about hipsters in the teenies mounting an upcycling campaign and realise they looked a bit of a tit, as I did watching Pride yesterday.
  20. Not sure that's quite fair as the crime stats for the last four months are down year on year, so they must be doing something right. There's one in the library a couple of afternoons a week if you want to talk about anything. However, the station is a known hotspot and I agree with rahrahrah that they should be able to find footage of someone leaving with the bike (assuming they didn't get on a train with it).
  21. Thanks for the warning. Do you mean the one inside, on the platform, or outside? I was also wondering what kind of lock they managed to get through?
  22. There are walk-in private places in central London if you don't mind paying but I haven't used one so can't give a recommendation. If your son is under 14, perhaps it would be quicker to go to the children's A&E at Kings and insist? I hope you manage to find one.
  23. Intrigued by the trowel. Do you chop or just splat? Both seem quite blood(slime?)thirsty but may be nicer for the slug than dissolving.
  24. Men who combine the lycra-shrinkwrapped cyclist look with the full Old Testament prophet beard. It's just wrong.
