  1. You're so lucky he's not in North Korea. BAML's big on compliance. They probably suspect smurfing.
  2. Nothing against the tube but just to add it's not always cheapest: just booked a return on the train for ?13.40, both parts on faster trains from P'ton.
  3. bsand Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > And since the child is not > suffering any sort of actionable abuse In the context of safeguarding neglect is a form of abuse.
  4. I wonder if Prosecco is mainly a female thing? It's lighter and fresher than champagne and has more instant festivity about it than a glass of Chardonnay, which is probably what it has replaced in female affections. I'm not a big fan but to my sisters, female friends and colleagues it's like catnip.
  5. It's not clear from the post how you knew it was a nanny rather than the child's mother or another relative - perhaps that was in what you deleted since - but if so then you could argue there's a safeguarding issue, in which case it's definitely appropriate to say something. It sounds very distressing for the child.
  6. The forum loses its effect after you've been using it a couple of years, as with most things in life (I would say by late 2009 / early 2010) but as with other things that you really enjoyed for a while you don't leave it alone until you have a really bad reaction. Personally I'm happy with the low-level threads at the moment after all the terror and political nonsense recently. It means all's basically back to normal. Forums are so ten years ago anyway.
  7. Sharing this for anyone who's interested in getting involved after I spotted a form in the library. Couldn't see an existing thread so apologies if this is a duplication. Southwark is proposing to stop NHS prescriptions for: 1. 'Self-care medication' (medication you can buy over the counter for eg headaches, hayfever). I find this one worrying as, while it sounds reasonable, given how the proposal is worded I think there's a risk of people feeling it means they can't consult the GP about these kinds of problems when some people may still need to do that. 2. Malaria prevention 3. Some travel vaccinations Closing date for feedback is 20 August. Apparently it opened on 26 June. More information here: http://www.southwarkccg.nhs.uk/get-involved/Shaping-services/Pages/NHS-prescriptions-in-Southwark.aspx
  8. Malumbu, malumbu, malumbu - recent author of 'fruit picking', 'should men wear shorts to work' and 'bikes I have owned'...
  9. There are local possibilities in addition to all the pubs: Sainsbury's, that undercover market thing (if it's still going), the cinema, Nero, the library, three lots in Dulwich Park (yet you still see men and boys peeing against trees), churches, St Barnabas village hall, DPG, Belair park, as well as some of the friendlier cafes.
  10. Sure is, and those that still exist no longer free to use, which is another factor. My mental map of London is made up of viable emergency pit stops if caught short.
  11. I think this was also the cause of the very poor air quality around that area today as there were quite a few generators and other machines powering various entertainments. Cycling past wasn't fun, anyway. Still, only once a year and in a couple of weeks they'll all be in Tuscany or Provence. Love the way the rush hour around DV disappears once the parents and coaches are off the roads.
  12. That happens to women too, rendel, either through childbirth or later in life, but, as Saffron said, it doesn't often translate into women dropping their pants and squatting in the street.
  13. Wow, that's appalling. Definitely a good idea to check then.
  14. Let's not confuse the one I mentioned with the OP's experience as she made it clear she wasn't saying that. In my case the guy was positioned close to the back garden where the children were playing. There were also small children walking close by down the pavement as it was end of the school day. As his own front door is literally 30 feet away there was really no excuse.
  15. Perhaps it might help to get some proper support? You could start by calling one of these helplines: Cruse (specialise in bereavement, not sure of hours but believe it's free to call) - 0808 808 1677 Sane (emotional support for mental health, local rate or included in mobile minutes, daily 4.30-10.30pm) - 0300 304 7000 Samaritans (listening service, free, 24 hours) - 116 123 Best of luck and take care of yourself.

In the case of my neighbour, yes, I did wonder if that was what was going on as he was only a few yards away from his own bathroom and if that was too much trouble he could have gone more discreetly in his own back garden or the alley that run behind all our flats rather than publicly where small children were playing.
  17. That's disturbing on several levels, and it sounds like an upsetting and intimidating experience for you. If you've got a description perhaps you should report it? I recently caught a man doing that in the alley next to my place mid-afternoon with small children nearby and only later found out he was a neighbour, which made me realise it might have been more than just biological need. If I catch him again I'm definitely going to let the police know.
  18. Haven't seen the bedrooms but from the original pitch I assume they've got nice bathrooms and lots of entertainment laid on. To be honest it was the only new place I could think of locally so chosen purely for novelty value. Mick Mac, were you being intentionally sexist? When I read it I wondered if you were suggesting he might welcome three hours of solitude playing on an Xbox wearing only underpants and occasionally lobbing a bottle of mysterious orange liquid out of the bedroom window. But that's the men in my family for you.
  19. Test-drive one of the boutique bedrooms at the new Crown & Greyhound?
  20. Got 45% lower with Tesco - so a replay of what happened when I switched to Saga 2 years ago but with positions reversed. Heigh ho. Suppose it almost recoups the cost of the gift aid so ending the day roughly cost-neutral.
  21. Must be my day for financial annoyances. My tax demand included nearly ?80 for longstanding donations to charity where they claim gift aid and I wasn't earning enough to pay tax, so HMRC charges me for the gift aid. I never realises I should have done something about it. Suddenly not feeling very charitable... And the washing machine's on the blink. Grumble, grumble.
  22. I have, as far as you can with rented. I guess it just means shopping around yet again. Boring. When I was finally old enough to get it from SAGA a couple of years ago I thought they'd treat existing customers as well as new ones. Seems I was wrong and it's the same old nonsense.
