  1. Hi Janice, sorry I dont remember you but I do remember teachers, had Miss Young for french lessons which I enjoyed, also Miss Coates,my form teacher was Miss Flack,I loved sport and was in school netball team Brenda Baker was captain.Remember the red and white check dress and navy or red cardigan,my dress was only small check had to wear what we could afford.I remember my school beret think I washed it to make it small then pinned it on back of my head.Would love to find someone from schooldays heres hoping.I have lived in Australia for last 46 years, did notice the old school has been knocked down shame.Did say in a message before will post school photo have to sort it out.By the way hope your book sells well.
  2. luv this thread,I remember having science lessons with Mr Funnell,Mr Heester was headmaster when I was at the school,Mr Reagan was one of my teachers think he had a son called Warren, other teachers were Mr Gore,Mr Musgrave,Mrs Perkins,Mr Hutton, wasnt there a Miss Rabatts?digging deep into the old gray matter now.I think we had cookery classes in same block as science lab.Getting the cane and having things thrown across the classroom was pretty normal.Have yet to find someone who attended school same time as myself.Have lived in Australia for past 46 years but always interesting to read about past experiences of people who lived in same area and went to same schools.
  3. yes i remember Streamline, across the road from Grove Tavern, there was a hairdressers and laundromat and grocers in the group of shops, left Northcroft Estate 1969 for Australia still living here but do remember living in East Dulwich for many years.
  4. I actually lived in a house in Overhill Road which backed onto Dawsons Hill,I had my wedding reception at home, then I believe the houses were all knocked down,we had moved to Northcroft Estate opposite golf course, then I migrated to Australia 1969 am still here, but did visit the area on a trip back,i think there should be as many green areas kept for wildlife, better than concrete jungles.
  5. hi,my aunt lived in the prefab backing onto Jeans,I can remember listening to Rossis playing his guitar in the back garden, our prefab was in Upland road, can only remember the Randalls (Tony) who lived on the corner of Friern road and Underhill in a prefab and Sidney Draper who lived next door to Randalls.I remember a shop on the corner of Upland road and Underhill Road, did a paper round for a week ,getting up early wasnt my thing.Maybe you are at a later time, thats why I cant remember names of people u mention. Now live in Australia have been here since 69 and they play Status Quo all the time in our Coles supermarket which is quite funny.
  6. Must have been in the 50's when I lived there, went to Heber Road school headmaster was Mr Heaster, left there and went to Friern Road girls school near Piermont green and opposite Peckham Rye Park this was after eleven plus had Miss Flack as a teacher.Lived in Upland Road and then Overhill road.Still in touch with friends I had in Dulwich.Got married in St Peters church opposite Grove Tavern,Had a great young life there was a great area to live,my sister lived in Dulwich until she passed away 2006.I left there and migrated to Australia in 1969,have returned to uk a couple of times and the last timed walked around all the areas that I played in as a youngster. These are all good memories of past friends and family.Love my life now in Australia, past and present is all part of your life.
