  1. Good afternoon, I am a qualified Barrister with 10 years in the insurance industry. I specialise in adjusting/assessing domestic major loss claims for several industry leaders in home insurance. I am considering extending my service into the private industry, and am presently seeking feedback, and assessing interest. If you, or anyone you know has an active claim with their Insurance company for damage to their home, and could benefit from the services of an industry professional, please feel free to contact me to register interest. I have the benefit of knowing how the process works from within the Insurance companies, and am in a position to make the process much clearer, as well as maximise the benefit received under the terms of the policy.
  2. Hi all, I can highly recommend a chap by the name of Andy for any of your plumbing needs. He contacted me back promptly. He ordered what I needed, brought it to site, installed it, and took away all the rubbish as well as leaving the bathroom clean and tidy. He does the job well, doesn't cut corners and is friendly and efficient. He can be reached on 07983688451 Cheers, Jenn
  3. Hello, I am looking for someone who can do a kitchen refurbishment for me. I want to replace the doors on all my cabinets, out a new worktop in, a new sink, a new hob, an new backsplash, install a tall pantry and change the flooring. I need someone who can discuss what I want with me. I will pick it out/ order it but I need them to collect, undertake the work and then dispose of all left over rubbish. I live on the border of Crystal Palace and Penge West. Please get in touch if this is something you can come quote for. Cheers! Jenn
  4. @kibris Why don't you use your energy to be pleasant instead of being a rude smart ass?!

  6. This chap is well known to the police and to various shelters. He is quite a friendly man, but unfortunately he doesn't want to follow the rules of the shelters, i.e., no drinking and curfew etc. He has several children as well - but this is a sad case of you cannot help someone who doesn't want the help.
  7. Hello all, There is a Wine Tasting taking place at Platform 1 tomorrow night in aid of Link Age, who work with people in the community affected by dementia and Alzheimer's. Many of us have been touched by this, or know people who have. Please come out and show your support for the charity and for local business in East Dulwich. There will great nibbles and a fabulous raffle as well!

So sick of burgers!!!! It's like Britain caught some US burger bug and it's soooo boring now!!!! Lol

Hence why I said do BBQ and do it WELL!! You can get good bar food in loads of places off the Lane.

Perhaps they're not competing, but there was a distinct drop in patronage when meet liquor opened. Do you go in there often?

Sorry to say, if they're ditching the BBQ and launching new burgers they are setting themselves up for a fall. That market is saturated with meat liquor and gbk. They have never really kicked ass with the BBQ, so perhaps they neee to take it seriously and kill it!! Burgers again....snooze!!!
  12. What do you mean by this and this again Titchy? As in you agree?
  13. Well...some decent wines by the glass would be good and perhaps a nice cava ( a cheaper option for bubbly than champagne). A cocktail or two wouldn't go amiss - maybe have a weekly featured cocktail and bring back live music. You used to have it far more regularly and it was great. Then it all stopped!? Re food, perhaps a slightly better variety, some interesting and creative salads, and with regard to the chicken wings there should be an option for the sauces/dips on the side. When they are cooked with the sauce on they aren't crispy and so the description of crispy wings on the menu is misleading. Bring the coleslaw back!! How on earth can you have wings and ribs without cole-slaw. In my view you should bin the burgers, too many people are doing them now and focus more on the southern food theme. Perhaps some meatloaf, chicken gumbo, collard greens etc. If you really want to be different invest in a proper smoker and smoke your ribs a day in advance. Do bbq and do it WEL!!!
  14. Hi, If there are any driver instructors out there can you please PM me as I have a question and I will need to book some lessons. Been driving for 20 years in Bermuda but need to get license here now and have a question first! Thanks! Jenn
  15. Thanks! That sounds interesting. I may pop along. :) I am going to start a forum like this one for the Penge area. This forum has been a godsend over the years when I lived in ED.
  16. Hi all, So I know this is the East Dulwich Forum, but unfortunately Penge don't have such a sophisticated forum for me to join! Have moved to Penge West, and am wondering if there is anyone on there who lives around there, enjoys a drink and a good craic now and then, and might enjoy a social get together? I am in the process of starting a forum like this for Penge but figured in the meantime I could suss out any potential new friends. :) I am a 38 professional woman by the way... just in case anyone was wondering!
  17. I would like to whole-heartedly recommend Andy and Rich if you have any work needed done in/around your property. Andy (Andyman) have come through on short notice to paint my entire flat that I just purchased. Without me even asking Andy said he would get it done before moved in and he, and Richard have been there days and nights for the past week. I had no issue giving Andy my keys and letting him come and go as he needs. He is friendly and personable and when I have changed my mind about something last minute, or added a little extra task in, he has been happy to help. Andy is also not quick to let his customers throw their money away. I was looking at a farrow and ball paint and he was very honest in saying he felt I could the same colour for much less with a different brand. Richard is going to install some wooden bifolds next month and when I found what I wanted online, he was quick to say that he could get the doors at a much lower cost. They have worked around boxes and chaos in my flat, and they have done a professional and speedy job and I will most definitely be using their services in the future and recommending them whenever I can. 07564 194363
  18. Hi all, Has anyone used a packing and moving company who they found trustworthy and reasonable? I am looking at a few companies that will come in, pack everything and then move it all - but I thought it would be good to see if anyone has any experience with one. Thanks, :) Jenn
  19. Hello, Trying to find an air conditioning/heating split cycle unit installer. I am seeking to install two split cycle units in my flat. Wall mounted with outside compressors. I have received a quote from a larger company and I think they are taking the mick. I am very familiar with these units, their costs, and the install time. The larger company said they have overheads - I am not paying for their overheads. Does anyone know a smaller reliable company who can give me a quote at a convenient time and actually get the work done for a reasonable fee. Please let me know if anyone knows anyone in this line of work. Thanks, Jenn
  20. If you could tell me who installed your system though, that would be useful. Always happy to look at other options.
  21. Thanks bobbsy. They don't have to put the pipework under the floor. They can actually run closely around skirting boards. I am expecting it to cost in the region of ?3K. I just don't want electric. But thanks for the heads up! :)
  22. Hello, I have purchased a flat on the border of Crystal Palace and Penge West. The flat currently has electric heating which I want to rip out and replace with central heating and a combi boiler. I have spoken to British Gas and the block it is in has other flats with gas heating, so there is a gas supply nearby. Is anyone qualified to rip out the electric units, replace them with radiators, install the gas pipes and the boiler? I would like to take someone to the flat to give me a quote. Cheers! Jennifer
  23. Some good points here. As for basing my comment/thought in three garages, no I am basing it on many years living here and many experiences, ranging from refusal of a toilet facility in a time of urgency, lack of consideration for disabled/wheelchair bound person and refusal to use a landline to call a cab when stranded and mobile dead. I am from a country that is 21 square miles so I know about living in small countries. I agree having good neighbours is great. I guess I just find that I don't see a lot of neighbourly interaction in London. Inaurace point makes sense as well. I did get a call out guy to come and he took battery away to charge so hopefully it works!
  24. No haven't asked neighbours. I've never seen anyone on my street talk to each other, so I would feel awkward. It's an Audi A3, not modern but I take your point. Yes I offered to pay the garage. The hysterical part is I am on Derwent grove and Kwik Fit are at the end.
