We used Simon Whitehead to see us through planning approval for our kitchen extension back in 2012. We are now selling our house and the buyer has some general questions re. planning approval and the design. When I contacted Simon for comment he has completely ignored our requests for help or feedback and it is for this reason that we wouldn?t recommend using him for the job. Even given the lapse of time since the end of job, I think there are other firms out there that would be more willing to respond or offer guidance to a former client in a similar situation.
  2. I'd like to recommend Mark. He came round, identified the issue, was very informative and fixed our boiler for a fair price. He also was happy to talk about ways in which we could protect our system moving forwards. I would use him again.
  3. Another recommendation for Dave at McHow. Our heating had packed up and we were struggling to refill the boiler. Dave popped round and fixed the issue for us within the hour free of charge. A top guy.
  4. I saw a couple of threads on the recent festival on Peckham Rye. Just wondering what everyones thoughts are now its been and gone? I went to Gala on the Sat, a nice day in the sun with a load of kds who were nutted. It was a good day, but the Rye has taken a real pummeling and will take a year to recover. I don?t begrudge anyone having fun (I was there!) but was it worth it to be left with the Rye in this condition? It was a beautiful spot to spend an afternoon, but its now a churned up mess and I wonder how many people wld be keen for it to return next year? Quick poll - yes or no?
  5. I am happy to say that Dave was true to his word and came round and re-did parts of the job that were peeling, free of charge. It all now looks brand new, so thank-you Dave (and Sue). Not many contractors would do that so I tip my hat to you.
  6. If you re-read my message Dave you will see that I said the paint was peeling after 1.5yrs but that we are now 3 yrs on and are finally getting round to re-doing it. I am happy to talk it through if you want, but to be fair, you shouldn't have to redo the house even after three years if it was prepped and undercoated properly. Its not just the timber either, the stone bay window sill has completely peeled. Fair enough, I give you credit for offering to talk this through. Let me know if you want to come and have a look.
  7. Another recommendation for Alan. I called him this morning about a seemingly broken lock and he helped me rectify the problem and fix it over the phone for no charge. So many others would not have been so helpful. Definitely use him again!
  8. sorry to hear that and I'll keep an eye out for any of your possessions. Its one if my nightmares and dread the day this happens to us. We're on Upland Road too. Could I ask, did they force the door? Break a window? Was the door double locked. Would be interested to know if there's any measures you think you could have taken that might have prevented it. Hope you day gets better and sorry you had to go through this.
  9. Hi Hazel, could I also get the details of your window cleaner? thanks!
  10. What's the best takeaway for Jamaican food near ED?
  11. What's the general opinion of the Herne Tavern since new management took over? I went in there the other day and thought the food had taken a turn for the worst. I'd be interested to hear any if anyone else feels the same?
  12. Just saw a guy attempt to break into the van belonging to a plumber who was working in my house. I walked outside and saw him and shouted. His accomplices were in another van with engine running on Upland Road. When he saw me he ran and jumped in the van and it sped off. The van was a rental with Enterprise written on the side. Didnt get a good look at him unfortunately but he was a white guy, probably in his 30's. I live in Piermont Road and this happened outside my front door. keep your eyes peeled
