  1. Hi, I'm fairly new to the area (actually in Nunhead) but was interested in joining your book club. Do you mind if I come to your next meeting?

You didn't actually mention in your first post that they weren't letting him in due to an 'outstanding debt'. Your first post sounded like his card just didn't work and I believe most people assumed he was still able to use the gym. Maybe if you had explained the situation correctly in the first place you would have got better responses. If it was me I would be taking down my bank statements showing the money coming out and demanding a refund for all the months they wouldn't let me in (although I also wouldn't have let it go on for so long). The alternative is to stop the Direct Debit you can usually do it via online banking and write at letter to them saying if they don't refund the money you will take legal action. However as he's an adult it really should be him doing this himself and not his Mum. At some point he needs to find a way to deal with issues he's having on his own.

What you need to decide is if you can either live with it until you have the money to do it, do some of the work yourself to reduce costs, or walk away. I'm not surprised the vendor is not willing to drop the price as he could probably get more now than you offered and not everyone will bother to get an electrical survey so is unlikely to cause another sale to fall through. For a rewire depending on the size of the property it can range from ?3-5k and it's mainly the labour costs you are paying for the best way to reduce this is to actually do the most time consuming task yourself which is putting in the new wires and then just get an electrician to hook everything up. Have a look online it's not particularly hard to do and will save you a lot of money on the rewire.
  4. Can he not just pretend he's lost the card and get another one issued and hope that one works.

    Solicitor

I'm currently using Glazer Delmar (they're on North Cross Road) for a house purchase in the area that has been a long and drawn out process and they have been brilliant with responding to emails and calls promptly.

    todays vote

It depends on your nationality. If you look on your Poll Card on the back it says: If you are a European Union citizen you will receive a yellow Local Government ballot paper, however you will only receive a white European Parliamentary ballot paper if you have completed a separate application to vote at this election.
  7. My mum used to cook lots of different cakes and she would freeze all of them from light sponges to a dense flourless chocolate cake. However they were always frozen undecorated so I would imagine anything with cream or similar additions might be better to eat rather than freeze.
  8. Just thought I would add my opinion as someone that is tongue tied and I'm now in my mid 30's. My mum decided not to get it cut when I was a baby as I was feeding fine. I don't have any problem with my speaking either. The main thing I can't really do is poke my tongue out although I can sort of get the middle section of my tongue to come out a bit that's about it. I also have issues occasionally with trying to 'clean' my mouth after eating as I can't always get my tongue to get to the places I want it to. The main issue I had was when I became a teenager and was interested in boys but was really worried about not being able to 'tongue kiss' him. However I've managed to kiss lots of boys with no complaints ;-) Although one of my friends did say I might have had more issues with it if I was a lesbian! However I find there's always a way to still do everything just maybe not the same way as someone that's not tongue tied. I have occasionally had moments where I wished my Mum had it cut when I was a baby but generally I tend to forget I'm even tongue tied.
  9. Sorry I didn't end up coming last night as wasn't feeling well and was in bed by 9. Hopefully I'll make it to your next meet up.
  10. I moved to the area about 6 months ago and hoping to meet some people in the local area. Look forward to meeting you on Saturday.
  11. I definitely think Old Kent Road is the more likely option as developers could help contribute to the costs like the new northern line extension. However I agree with Jeremy an interchange at Queens Road or even New Cross Gate would be a good idea as it wouldn't make sense to not connect it to the overground line.
  12. If you are worried about a particular street have you tried talking to some of the people that live on the street and asked them if they think there's any particular crime problem.
  13. Not a kids name but a girl I went to school with married someone with the last name Cocks and when she went to submit her change of name form the lady at the counter said to her it must be true love if she's willing to change her name to Cocks.
