Advice on a few days city break in Europe in the summer
Seabag replied to malumbu's topic in The Lounge
Lisbon, not too warm. It's a special place, the food is great. I'm taking mine there soon San Sebastian is good too, did that this year (but spent a fair whack) But, I had a good trip to Iceland too. Will be taking mine in the summertime Also we went up into the hills of Malaga provence, then toured around to Rhonda and the lakes. The kids loved swimming in the warm blue water, cicada in the trees, then through El Chorro and the National park. Not expensive and about an hr + drive out from Malaga airport Ah, dreamy fun to be had -
On the Trades/restaurant thread Amazing cleaner Liaro (made up name, but she sounds good) Awesome that Fantastic so and so Looking for sucessful tuition....(really, no!) What's wrong with "satisfactory" as in "They cleaned my windows to a satisfactory standard" However, had I read that i'd have thought "Wooohoo, lighten up 'satisfied' man why don't you" In retrospect, i'm not as 'irrationally raged' as I initially thought *ahem*

Seems the 'Electric cars' thread has run out of charge Hmmmm.... No staying power I tell you Malumble *taps screen*

I had a blue pipe to the tap, then a lead pipe there onwards. And I have all my own teeth still However, for pressure we had the whole thing done, we dug the trench (12" I think). It wasn't that pricey tho

That's a sweet memory to have of you and your Ma Foxy Bognor is an odd town tho, no. Like a place where something could happen but generally doesn't It's very down at heel now, but it has a strangely welcoming station. I was there for the first time in about 20 years about 6 months ago Bugger Bognor https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bognor_Regis#.22Bugger_Bognor.22

I'd have been slightly suprised had you gone all LDC at yours, you being the invisible man of ED and all that

I'm sure off the peg may be cheaper (*Bob* what were you quoted? i'm passing later so will slow down to see if you've gone all "London Door Company" at yours")

At least with the Honda you could bang on about 'great engineering' and all that Thin offerings, but also without being too horrid, IF my partner called herself "jollymummy" and she called me "hubby" i'd worry that my identity was being flatlined (for better or worse) So the car talk is really the last kick to "get in line darling" maybe An observation that's all

For stuff like this the Forum is great Thank You Now, what about short stay ski passes, any tips there ? I see it snowed at 2,300m over the weekend

I was quoted in the region of ?5 k Considering the locks/security bars and all the furniture comes to around ?1500+ it is costly You could take the care to get someone decent to rehang and add routered in quality draught excluders etc If not go plastic

How old is 'hubby' out of interest. I'm old enough to remember really crap Skoda's and that sticks somewhat Losing the SQ5 probably hurts more than you'll really know, so the 'Ok I give in' Skoda acquisition might sting too much I waited years to get a VW back, it's cool now but those longing years in the wilderness hurt Kids eh!

I'd never been to Hasting or Margate until my late 30's Hove, Ferring, Worthing (where I lived once) Arundel even, and pretty middle class yes As I said, different experiences but not in a Darling Buds of May way, that's a bit sniffy in itself no?
-
Honestly, as a family we never went to seaside towns like Southend or Bognor (though we lived within striking distance of the latter) Too low end touristy i'm afraid Different life experiences I suppose

Oh I see, nothing to do with food at all, but an alcho-pop at the middle classes And since when was Brockley Market or its surrounding parts the bastion of 'the working class' FFS. I also come from a seaside town, where (defrosted) cockles and vinegar and fish cakes were served to the kiss-me-quick brigade turned up by train from the cities miles away All sold in the shops where the people who lived there didn't ever eat, and that closed out of season. I knew the families that ran them too. But being stupid and middle class we bought fresh fish and cooked it at home, and fishermen sold cooked crabs. I know it's amazing isn't it, patronising even. And chips, now there's a thing. Who'd of thought of that with something fishy

No beards, just made by a respected chef who's got a good fish restaurant on the coast Fish = fish Dog might indicate a bun or something similar. If you want to call a long roll an sandwich, then crack on, knock your self out Lou Mushy peas but finer, so they don't fall out of the bun Then crab meat with chips, like in any seaside town. Is that something odd or new ? Yeah, is that all like TOTALLY San Fran OUT THERE. Or are you on the vino again

I'm driving solo to work in the French Alps for a short stint I'm taking my VW Transporter via the Euro Tunnel train thingy, has anyone driven this route Any tips for a relatively stress free trip, stop off points etc I've got winter rated tyres + snow chains sorted Destignation is Courchevel 1650, then a few 'ski/work' days in Val Thorens

Erm....what part of Fish/Dog didn't you figure out Jah Fish in a bun with minted mushy pea puree and a kick arse tartare sauce It's bloody lovely, as are the crab chips

I think in the 'history' of X Factor that Wagner was the begining of the end, gawd he was something else But like it or not, it has spawned a number of very successful acts Out of this lot, maybe Che Chesterman has the voice Or Reggie and Bolli are the next big thing

I'm sure Franklins would rather forget the whole Sue 'bubble & squeakgate' thing, and concerntrate on the joys of winning this prestigious award

Good kebabs i'm good with, but burgers haven't been on my food map for ages And i'm not sure they're likely to return anytime soon I do like a Fish Dog from Hix's wagon on a Saturday, very nice
