Hi I have a problem with mould in wardrobe. I don't really know what sort of tradesman I need but hoping someone can help! It's a built-in wardrobe on a north facing wall - the back of the wardrobe is the wall itself, no MDF back. Mould builds up inside the shelves inside it during winter months and it's very cold when you open the wardrobe so guessing this is because of condensation. There is one air brick in there. I think what needs to happen is insulate the wall at the back of the wardrobe, cut the shelves at the back so that there is airflow at the back of the wardrobe, check the air brick is working and maybe put in another one and perhaps drill holes in the sides of the shelves to create more airflow? Is there anyone out there who can help? I'm in SE21

Hi trusty EDF I have a couple of shelves that are too long for the space I want to put them up in. Does anyone have a circular saw to quickly lop the ends off or know of a carpentry or somewhere I could get this done? Could take my hack saw to it but don't want to make a hash of the shelves! Thank you!

Just wanted to recommend Bill (not Bill Hunter mentioned elsewhere on this forum, a different Bill!). Bill replaced a radiator for me & moved another. Hi ED Bit of a random one... I just moved into a house that has been VERY cheaply converted. The philistine of a previous owner ripped out all the victorian fireplaces but what is confusing me is that the air vents are 10cms from the ceiling at the top of the wall, rather than 3 bricks up from the floor where the fire used to be, as I've seen previously. I'm not really sure what kind of a tradesman I need to ask about this. Anyone have experience with ripping out fireplaces who could recommend someone? My questions in case anyone else has experienced this: 1- given it's very odd placement, is this vent still doing it's job of preventing humidity? 2 - if no, do I really need it? It's slap bang in the middle of a wall and looks really odd 3 - if I do need a vent, can I put one a the bottom of the wall and seal this one at the top? Thank you as always! Jess

Morning all Just moved into the area and found, by way of a leak, that I have some lead pipes in the house & connecting to the mains from Thames Water - unsurprising in a Victorian house, I'm sure. I'm getting Thames water to test the water, to be on the safe side. But I wondered how others have handled this. Are there under-sink or other types of filters that you use and would recommend? If the level is considered "safe" by the EU standard are people taking this as a go-ahead to use the water direct from the tap as usual or are you filtering as well? We have a baby arriving in Feb so particularly concerned about using tap water to make baby food etc, if anyone has thoughts on or experience with that? Many thanks! Jess

Adding to Happy Mummy's request if I may: I recently moved into the area and am looking for a great handyman to help with a mix of jobs big and small - 6 months pregnant & husband works overseas most of the time so can't manage these on my own anymore unfortunately! Some of the jobs: - Putting up curtain poles - Painting several rooms - Building flatpack furniture - Changing locks on UPVC windows - Clearing garden, digging flower beds - There will be many others that come up I'm sure!
